Her lithe form slipped into the arena like a shadow unmoored from its source, black gaze scanning her surroundings to see if anyone might be sneaking up on her to get the jump on her. It was certainly her preferred method of getting into a fight, so she wouldn't put it past someone else to do so. A little bit of karma never hurt anyone, she thought.

Fall
Though the air is still warm and the sun is bright, the summer is beginning to wane and, with it, the humidity has started to die down. It is a welcomed relief for the inhabitants of the jungle, as more moderate weather will mean that the rainforest will not feel quite as stifling, as well as those from the desert, who's early autumn will see calm winds and mild nights. For the rest of the peninsula, the change in seasons will be gradual, hinting towards the colder months that are soon to come.

It had been some time since she'd had a proper fight, and found herself itching for one. Call it her Casimir heritage rearing its head. Thankfully, there was a place where she knew she could find one easily, and made her way to the pit in search of someone who felt the same way she did.

When he returned to the pit, he returned in health. His body bore knew scars, yes, but sporting strength and muscle he had lost all that time ago. His mission to recover from the bite of the serpent had not gone anywhere, rather, it had become something he accomplished, something that showed him he was more than what he survived.
To that end, he returned to the pit intent on testing his newly returned strength and when his eyes landed on a lioness lurking about, his quickly decided she would be the one he would test his new skills on.
Without a word of warning, he unsheathed his claws, charging forward in attempts to slam his shoulder into her side as forcefully as he could, copying what had been done to him so many times before.

It seemed she would in fact experience karma, as another came at her without a word of warning, and she took the brunt of his attack with a grunt, getting shunted to the side when his form collided with hers. At least they were of a similar size, so she didn't go flying, and yet...
Dysnomia pivoted her hind end towards him so she was at an angle to him, lashing out with her hind leg that was closest to him in an attempt to kick him like she'd seen numerous zebras and antelope do to hunting lions. She knew it wouldn't have nearly as much of an effect considering her paws were soft whereas their prey had hooves, but it was something she'd never seen or tried before. She kept her tail tucked down and away from him, both to counter balance herself and to hopefully keep it out of his jaws.

Every new battle was a chance to learn from others, for as clever as he was, he did not know everything, for if he did he would have fashioned himself as a god of these lands. One to be bowed to and worshipped. He was, however, not a god, but rather a lion going after prey. Because that was all she was in his eyes.
Prey.
And like prey, she suddenly turned her hindquarters and kicked out at him, much like a zebra. It was an odd move he had never seen before but that did not mean he would allow her to simply get away with kicking him square in the chest. Coughing, and yet not intent on giving up, Lachesis lunged forward, jaws splayed in attempts to snap his teeth around the thigh of the leg that had struck him and pull.

She got him solidly, forcing a cough from him, and she had a moment to feel satisfied with herself until his jaws locked around her thigh and the limb was pulled out from under her. Well, shit. If it wasn't the consequences of her own actions.
She couldn't use her other hind leg without completely sacrificing her balance, so she turned in on herself as best she could, reaching over with her front paw on the same side as the leg he was holding, attempting to smack him on the nose. Usually, she would've kept her claws in, but since she really needed him to let go she let them extend a bit, deciding a few scratches to his face if she connected wouldn't be the end of the world.

There was a smug look on his face, the moment his jaws clamped down around her thigh and he could take droplets of blood on his tongue. If he had listened to the cruelty thrumming within him, how would have dared to try and break the limb entirely. But the lioness had committed no crime against him and for that, he offered her mercy.
How gracious he was.
As she turned and smacked him on the nose, he let released her, both because he wanted to protect his precious face and because he was being kind to her. Of course, he wasn't simply going to let her have a fair chance at resetting. Instead, as he let her go, he attempted to throw his body weight forward and knock her completely off balance.

Fucking hell, she was starting to understand why Ransom had fared so poorly whenever she'd sneak attacked him. Clearly that was the way to go. She felt like she was on the back foot this whole time... no pun intended. Still, she wasn't doing too poorly, especially as she managed to make him release her leg. Of course, no sooner had her paw touched the ground than he slammed into her again, this time knocking her fully over.
Dys landed with a quiet "oof", but she was immediately kicking at him with both her hind legs, attempting to pummel him in the chest and get him to back off, because she knew she was in a bad position here if he decided to press his advantage of being on all four paws while she was lying on her side.

LACHESIS HAS WON THE CHALLENGE FOR DOMINANCE!

Knocking her over was immensely satisfying, so much so that he was certain he had won, even when she began kicking at his chest. He pulled back quickly, no longer willing to risk more injury when he was certain he was the victorious one.
He gave her ample space to rise to her feet, lifting his head with an air of arrogance, so pleased that he had managed to defeat someone with his new found strength, regardless of the fact that he had snuck up on her.

You fought well,he said, fully lying. This had been nothing, but he did not see anything particularly abhorrent with being kind. Perhaps she would give him the chance to defeat her again in the future.
I am Lachesis,he said,
who are you?

She knew she'd been beaten from the start, and all that was left for her was to wait and see if he'd play nice or if he'd try to rip her throat out now that he had her on the ground. Luckily for her, he backed off and let her up, though she still watched him warily as she rose. Judging by the way he literally looked down on her as she did so, she found it hard to believe the words that came out of his mouth next, and so uttered a soft scoff. Sure bud. Well, she hadn't done as badly as she could have given the circumstances, she guessed.
"Dysnomia," she replied. She'd remember his name and face. Maybe the next time they faced each other she'd fare better. After all, the first time she'd fought Ransom she'd done just as poorly, but then she'd beaten him several times after.
