She were no hunter, but she had participated in enough of the Cove's hunts to consider her experience worthwhile enough to contribute. She'd been reclusive for far too long; she'd spent her days wandering the Mire collecting herbs, and her nights lingering alone in her den, or sharing the space with the Mire King. The scents of many often crossed her path, passing patrols barely missed by ducking into the underbrush or diverting her path from their direction. The Cove had been much smaller, far more fledgling in its existence; by comparison, the Mire seemed an endless congregation of lions she was certain she'd never all get to meet. Thus, it were far easier to remain anonymous.

She knew it couldn't be this way forever.

As she slipped free from the underbrush and noticed the amassing crowd, among them no familiar faces except for @Livyatan, whom Tinúviel immediately made her way toward. Far less injured now than he was before, she could see the full stance of his height above her; it felt easier to think of how he was healing, if only to stave away the nervousness that radiated from her in waves. You're feeling well enough to hunt? she asks in a soft whisper, neither accusatory nor unkind; she had hoped the lion would only do as much as he felt he could, and nothing more. But even she knew bedridding a lion until they were completely healed was neither ideal nor realistic.

Surprising as it may be to some when his darker sibling's call rose above the murky overgrowth of Ecrosia, Luther had been on the far outskirts of the western border, his muddy pale feet taking him down the scent markers. He was here to check up, playing the ever-dutiful Heir & son. The last time he'd patrolled, one girl had attempted to cross the border unsupervised. No matter what she'd said, he was almost certain she would've attempted to escape if it wasn't for him happening to her. Luther cannot have that happening, oh no.

His talons scraped against a wet boulder, the spring rains never quite allowing the Mire a day of dryness. Luther didn't pay attention, though, for he was used to this. After all, he'd lived here for his entire life. It was comfortable and cozy. With a last scratch on his new-found scratching post, Luther gazed at his claws judgingly. Should he even go and see what Bruno was fussing over? He quite disliked being summoned, but his brown sibling hardly did that.

When he saw Dobromira's silhouette heading for the call, he decided that his curiousity was larger than his ego. Fashionably late, as was his style, he arrives to his pride mates ducking in their positions, preparing to take down... an elephant? My, he could smell a feast tonight.

6 years old, no bonus

The days have a habit of rolling along, blending into each other so seamlessly that it was often difficult for Sláine to remember exactly how much time had passed since certain events. Especially when she had immersed herself so completely into the swamp life, quietly and privately seeking out Nusura's old remedies for sickness. How she missed the healer, the painful memory of friends long gone burdens her heart more and more as she ages.
The Scot was slower than her pride mates to rise to the beckoning of trumpet call, unexplained exhaustion ached in her legs and she rose from the royal den with slow, stretching movements to liven up her stiff appendages.
Bruno's low call was a heartening sound, reminding the lioness just how capable and grown the yearlings were now. Masters of their own universe and with a whole future theirs for the taking. Sláine feels a pang of wistful jealousy at the thought as she moved on autopilot through the jungle. It is not that she begrudged the younglings their lot, but only that she had so thoroughly enjoyed her own, for a time.

There are several pride members already there when she arrived and even a shadow up in the tree, perhaps a monkey, to aid in the conquest of the great beast, stuck and thrashing in the mud.

Still wounded from her fight and scraped and torn in places, Sláine took up her position quietly. Thinking of the fortuitous nature of an elephant arriving in the swamp just as she has realized she is pregnant. A good omen and a strong, beating heart.

Ottilie patrolled the borders of her home, the Mire, her keen eyes scanning the terrain for any sign of danger. But there was nothing of interest to be found, and so she began to sprint, her muscles straining as she pushed herself to the limit. She had grown so much in the past few months, her small frame now slowly but certainly filling out with lean, toned muscle.

Just as she was starting to lose steam, she heard the call for aid in a hunt. It took her a while to reach the source of the commotion, her paws pounding the ground as she raced from the other side of the territory. And when she finally arrived, she was surprised to see a large elephant stuck in a hole in the middle of the prideland.

Without hesitation, Ottilie crouched low and joined her pride mates. She could feel the excitement and adrenaline coursing through her veins, her body tense and ready for action. She was going to show them all just how much her training was paying off. Not-Mother Slaine was here too - and Ottie was determined to wow her.

A lion's roar was low and frightening. An elephant's trumpet rang through the Mire. Unusual. (Unusual was bad.) Sarsaparilla stirred, her forehalf half standing and claws measured out. Her neon eyes showed fear when they opened, residue of nightmare, and the progress of waking did not soothe her. For they felt the ground tremble as the beast made earthquakes from the struggle for freedom. She could empathize, if she could ever heal enough to care. But all she knew was opportunity. Kill it while it was down!

The rest of the pride felt the same. No mercy. Sarsaparilla prowled low along the outskirts, taking long and fluid strides. Toes widened to move along bare ridges, avoiding fallen brush that might rattle under her stride. She didn't try to get directly behind the elephant, knowing that was where other hunters would find the prime position, but rather off to the side. There she had a better chance of being able to attack unhindered and unforeseen.

Were they doing this? Hell yeah they were doing this! Toblerone was still a little upsetti from the loss of her rank fight but, unfortunately, she didn't look the worse for wear. It was difficult to parade one's hind ankle around in the face of her pridemates as easily as a facial wound, and although her ankle was still surrounded in cuts her cheek had grown new bare skin. She looked unfortunately short of pathetic, and not the cute kind of waifish. She'd have to attract attention some other way, and whatever water cooler conversation surrounded this loud ass elephant sounded perfect.

The pink lioness arrived, and after noting that the elephant seemed firmly trapped and unlikely to charge at her, she joined what seemed like the largest clump of lions. She looked them over and mimicked their stance. Half crouched, claws out, yeah, that would do. She looked ready enough. But she perked her ears to try to catch conversation. She didn't care about hunting strategy, but she wanted to know who was easily upset or bossy or insecure. All much more delicious things to her than the literal meat of the hunt.

Bruno remained poised within the shelter of his hiding spot, content to wait as the Ecrosians began to gather – a few to start, until Bruno could no longer keep track of the numerous shadowed figures preparing to strike. He continued rubbing himself against the lush foliage there, trying to blend his scent into his surroundings rather than call attention to himself as apex predator. Bruno sprang when the moment was right, unfurling across the mire and helping to herd the elephant toward the heavyweights, its steps like thunder even amid the muck.

He made one step out of turn. White-hot agony scorched through the boy's torso, the massive ivory of its tusk jutting through his skin until it left a short, deep gash. It oozed steadily, the stark red liquid paired with the pain causing Bruno's stomach to lurch. He let out a pained groan, hanging back as the others closed in for the final blows, the edges of his vision blurred with adrenaline and disgust in equal measure.

Though the great beast fell with a crash, Bruno did not rush immediately to the kill. He loitered there, cradling his shoulder and running brisk licks over the gash as if to clean the memory of it away despite its nagging sting.

"Gah," Bruno started with a wince. "We need it dismembered and brought to the cache. Hunters eat first," he guided, gritting his teeth against the pain.

"I need a medic." Lingering there, he directed his eyes to the shadowed pelt of Dobromira lurking among the fray. "Dobromira, will you save me some?" He requested, banishing the ire from his tone for a moment – for her, for all they know. It was a moment's gesture, but it was public. Fighting off another groan of pain, the yearling turned in search of the nearest magic-man to cure his mortal agonies.

They all moved as one and as one they took down the beast before them. However, it would see that not all will go home uninjured. Bloodied jewels took note of the victim, Bruno and he would move towards him briefly. Doing much of the same in not rushing to the kill but making sure he was alright. Adeodatus watched the others just as he glanced at Bruno when he started leaving. Having heard how he spoke to the newest Gentry but pushing the thoughts to the side, it was not his business to ask so he would wait until Bruno was out of sight and everyone else got what they wanted or needed before he'd start helping to take it back to the cache. exit

With the amount of lions there were, Tinúviel felt no fear in lingering along the sidelines, content to observe their cooperative strategy in felling the massive creature. They had come across a difficult prize, but they had been victorious, and the small medic felt content in the help she was capable of providing. Hunting, she realized, had come far easier to her now than it had before. She had not noticed the extent of injury until the beast slipped to the ground with a sickening thud, and the dust had long begun to settle, and the sharp smell of copper and ivory broke through everything else. She finds @Livyatan amongst the fold, and though she'd every intention of continuing to follow-up with his injury, there was another now who needed her more.

While the others were content to secure the kill or slink off in different directions, she noticed the staggering form of @Bruno ♔ desperate to remain standing. Her breath hitched gently in her throat, and without thinking, she found herself gravitating toward him with a rushed pace. Despite the extent of his injury, which became far clearer and far more critical now as she reached closer, he seemed just as focused on giving orders where and when he could. Diligent, but he needed rest, now, more than anything.

He calls for a medic as she finally approaches, and dips her head toward the young Prince, lingering shyly as he prepares to leave. I can help, she offers quietly, sparing a glance toward @Dobromira as he addresses her. She is given little time to see if he agrees on her help or if he desires far more expertise, but hastily does she follow, prepared to assist in whichever ways she could.
