Prompt: Uh oh. Two rhinoceros calves have wandered away from their mother in search of some relief from the thick snow that chills their smaller bodies to the bone. It appears as though, unsuspectingly, they've wandered into Andal territory by mistake...

Hazarin had been shuffling around his den when he heard two... large individuals scuffling about outside. Moving his attention away from the pelts he had scavenged from old dens, the Dieudonné moved his attention to the clearing, remembering what Ryker had said about the difficulty lions would have trying to sneak up on them.

Much to his surprise, the male found two rhinoceros calves huddled together drinking from the water. His eyes widened temporarily as his tail twitched, lowering himself to the ground instinctively and utching closer. He would pause, then, and call out for the rest of the pride to join him.

Another day, another call to action. It's honestly quite tempting to just let everybody else deal with the unending task that is bringing down food for the pride, but well - there is a certain appeal he can't deny, to tasting fresh blood upon his tongue, to feasting while his meal was still warm. Since he has nothing more pressing going on, Rainer supposes he could deem such rewards to be worth his participation once more.

And besides, it seems that quite the fascinating quarry has made the mistake of wandering into the desert lions' midst on this otherwise unremarkable day. Rhinos, even young ones, were such risky prey, after all. How perfect.

@Hazarin was the one who had released the summons today, the fiery-maned Sovereign unfamiliar to Rainer still, though it does not deter the piebald from creeping up alongside the noticeable smaller male a little ways away. "Careful there. I won't be pushing you out of the way if you end up on the front end of those horns." He rumbles quietly enough, head tilting innocently as if he truly held any care at all for the other's well-being.

He'd actually been fairly close, having watched the curious creatures wander deeper and deeper into the territory. If they had a parent around, it would be a challenge. But two little things so far from the moving boulder that was an adult rhino? Might be soft enough, and slow enough, and who didn't like a nice chunk of warm, fatty, meat on a cold winter day? And babies were always so tender.

Ryker would slide up along @Hazarin's free side, glancing to @Rainer over the Sovereign's shoulders, "What horns? The mother is nowhere to be seen," he kept his voice low to avoid spooking the calves. It would be months before their own horns began to show any real progress, and longer before they were really dangerous.

6 years, no perks

While the sun was still in the sky, Shiva was out and about exploring, checking out the resources she could find near the pride, and preparing for when the temperature dropped later on that night. It was @Hazarin's call that ultimately brought her further into the territory, but she did so with determination. The one thing she didn't get to do yet today was hunt, and it was much easier as a group.

There were a few of them gathered - @Ryker, another gray male she didn't get to meet yet, and a tan male with a red mane... Someone she also didn't think she met yet. Shiva approached, answering in her own quiet chuff as she joined the group and lowered herself in the sand, tail whipping behind her as she got into the zone.

The pride felt to have grown up nearly overnight. So many new faces and scents now had overtaken the Oasis. Had he gotten to know them? No. But then he hadn't really known any of his previous pride members. They never lasted. They all moved on eventually while he remained.

The rhino calves weren't as unusual sight as they should be. Few had wandered into the Oasis before. But then Iofiel had been here so long that he had seen a plethora of prey that didn't belong here. Instead he was looking to the gathered group of lions instead.

He remained silent and standing apart from them. Could they work together to take down the calves? He was uncertain. But then it was the fiery maned male that took his attention. There was a familiarity there, some long forgotten memory.

5 years old, no perks.

He is late, though it seems as if the hunt had not began, so the beasts arrives with a quiet chuff toward his pridemates. Massive paws cover the distance between them swiftly, taking up a position near Ryker. Pale blue eyes narrow as he notices the rhinoceros calves - his stomach gently rumbling, reminding him that he hadn't eaten in a few days. Tail lashes behind him, moving forward a bit - ready to help be the take down for these massive animals. Toes curl, talons kneading the earth as he readies himself. Muscles grow taut, his body lowering to the ground. They were going to eat well today, if they could manage this hunt.

5 Years Old, No Perks

She would enter the scene following Alexander at first but when she noticed the pride gathering and beginning to drift towards the prey her instincts would kick in. Camellia broke away from the group and began to circle wide, flanking one side of the pair of calves. Surround them she thought, lest they split and run in opposite directions. Though it may be inconsequential as rhino calves weren’t especially fast. Eyes were peeled, however, lips parting to taste the wind, senses keenly on the look out for any sign of the true danger; the mother rhino.

An unspoken energy entered the air, a strange sort of telepathy or perhaps simple instinct shared between lions in the hunt that allowed for communication and cooperation. Camellia sensed it was time to move and she broke into a purposeful jog, circling around behind the calve who were growing more agitated by the moment, backing against each other facing opposite directions as the Andal pride closed in. A flag of her tail would signal her intent to the others; or at least to Alexander with whom she had shared many hunts. Small but nimble footed, Camellia was not fit to overpower one of these young yet sturdy and heavily built animals. She was better suited for the chase, driving them towards her large and much more capable brother along with the other males and in the pride. There was another lioness participating as well, though the bulk of the hunt was out numbered by lions. It would give them an advantage in taking down the tank-like rhino calves.

Then the energy peaked and the pride burst into action. Camellia broke into a run, her movement large and exaggerated which spooked the calves. They took off in two directions, but both were aimed towards the various members of the Andal hunting party. Jaws agape, her chest drew in large breaths, delivering oxygen to her muscles as her limbs pounded the sand, turning nimbly to keep one of the calves from breaking wide and escaping.
