Prompt: Bright pink birds flutter down to the snow. Lost. Alone. Confused. They had been flying when a strange vision overtook them and they lost their way.

Darker times seemed to once more head towards the Amaryliss lions. Once more to potentially bring chaos and hopefully not death..Dark visions had infested her dreams, not only asleep..sometimes she could also sense them at day. No way she could come up with a good explanation for such phenomenon. She has seen earthquakes, disasters, colossal droughts. Engulfing mists. But this was new, unlike the other events. Troubled she found herself checking the borders, making sure everything was fine. But what had caught her eye was something odd. Flamingo in an snow mountain..that was new. But well, it was time to bring those out of their misery. Using her white coat she wanted to blend with the snow and be able to ambush the clumsy birds.

Dio, wide eyed and amazed, saw the pair of brilliant pink birds landing amongst the grey and snow covered caps of the Summit. She gasped aloud and dropped immediately to her belly and began to creep forwards slowly. Trying to be sneaky and get closer to these beautiful birds. The likes of which she's never really seen before. And definitely not up atop the mountain she called home. Her pupils were nearly the entire size of her iris, black circles so wide it hurt to take in that much light when it bounced off the snow. But they were too gorgeous to ignore, and Dio was allured by them. Drawn in like they were sirens. So pretty..._{CODE | BACKGROUND | ART BY MUULAND}

Penrose watched quizzically as a pair of striking pink birds fluttered down from the heavens. The unusual sight was entirely unexpected, and left the cub staring dazed and astounded from where he was perched atop a rock that overlooked the main clearing of the Summit. He'd never seen birds such a dazzling shade of pink; their bubblegum feathers contrasted starkly against the unbroken blanket of white that characterized his mountain home. Penrose laid back on his belly and settled his chin down on his front paws, leisurely watching the pretty birds from his hiding spot.

Wandering close to the others gathered she made her way first to @Diomedeidae and attempted to push her nose into the scruff of the abyss-colored girl. Will this be your first big hunt? Talisa was proud to see the girl finally take on the roles that were mostly meant for the adults and it was a lot easier to stomach a first hunt when it was flamingos and not something more dangerous like an elephant. I usually bless the hunt afterwards but I've also never had anyone else interested in Maua, or anything of the sort so maybe... maybe she could try something different. I find it helps to clear your mind before a hunt to reach out and pray for safety and good food. Whether Dio wanted to meditate for a minute, bless their food or pray to Maua -- Talisa was ready to listen.

six years, no trade bonus Stranger things had happened, Morrigan supposed, but it was hard to ignore the stark contrast of the vibrant pink colored creatures against the blinding white of the snow around them. A small snort of laughter escaped Morrigan as she approached, noting @Pandora, @Diomedeidae, @Penrose, and @Talisa already gathered. Talisa spoke to her student and seemed to be intended to bless the hunt and food so Morrigan would come to stand with Penrose, content to let the boy watch what would be a safe hunt. "Watch how Mama blesses us and the food. Stay away from the ledges when we hunt, though," she added before preparing herself for the attack on the unfortunate visitors.

She inhales sharply, but thankfully quietly, as her not-Mom's nose comes to press into the back of her neck. Dio is pulled out of her trance like fascination of the flamingos by the beloved aroma and quiet voice of @Talisa. It's my first yeah. She is proud, not quite taking her eyes away from the prey but tilting her head towards her Aunt to smile and beem.

When it's done Dio is a bit winded (the mountain being an incredibly unforgiving hunting ground) but they are successful. She races in to perform the rites, the cold grey and white ground is stained red and pink with bloody feathers. Maua, please take care of these creatures that we have sent to your embrace. She begins to speak before even sitting down and getting comfortable. But once at the side of the kill Dio does not pause what she is saying as she begins to sit down, tuck her paws close, and tip her closed eyes down. Thank you for this blessing of food and keeping us safe while we hunt. One eye peaks open a crack and searches quickly to see who was watching, what their faces looked like. The last few years she hadn't gotten a lot of moments to really show gratitude for the food that Maua provided but the thought had always been there. Now that they were in a new location with new prey, it seemed as good a time as any to bring the tradition back. As the gathered group take down their flamingos and huddle around their winnings, Talisa beams at the young @Diomedeidae as she addressed Maua and gives thanks. Only when there is a good moment for Talisa to weigh in does she say her traditional blessing: Bless us, Oh Creator, and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive, from thy bounty, through Maua, Our Creator. Never did she believe that the girl needed to follow this same blessing but she could make her own if she felt so inclined. Talisa, of course, was watching Dio at every opportunity that she could and gave an encouraging smile when she noticed the girls eyes open just a smidge. It mattered little as to who was watching (Talisa hadn't had a whole lot lions who had taken note of her blessings and so was more than pleased to know that her wife had listened all these years) but to Dio, she wanted to make sure that she was speaking loud enough and being heard by all. It made sense and Talisa made sure to encourage her with a nod or two and a smile. Let us get these back to the cache, hm? Luckily they weren't going to be ridiculously heavy to take through the summit and she could trust that between the two of them (and whoever else) that they could get the job done. exit talisa

She gives a glance over as her voice fades to Talisa's. Dio is attentive to the prayer, feeling it down in her gut as with each syllable there is warmth and excitement. The traditional blessing sounded much more beautiful thought Dio. Words of an old magic and meaning... Were hers ok then? Talisa does not seem to think they were bad ones, and if nothing else Dio trusted her Aunt to know how to talk to Maua appropriately. Dio nods back to the Sovereign, smiling wide and proud while those moments of doubt and wonder began to flicker, then fade.

With a loudly gurgling belly Dio was excited to get some quick bites before things got whisked off to the cache...
