ooc: would prefer another cub, family, or someone friendly!

She had stared over the borders, waiting until she finally felt capable enough to cross them. At 6 months old, she knew it was time to start exploring, but she wasn't ready to see just how far the lands stretched. So when she stepped over the border, into the neighboring grove, she lets out a shaky breath, her head high as she studies the world before her.

It was huge. Just stepping over the border... she takes in a deep breath, leaving the familiarity of the Brook behind her. The grove had tall trees that towered over her, and a slight frost seemed to be clinging to some of the lower branches. Fall was giving away to winter soon, and she wondered what this land would look like then.

Her breath, billows out in frost before her, and she carefully explores further and further. Before, she scents another and freezes.

"Hello?" She offers the woods around her, her fur sticking up slightly as she hopes that whomever it is... is someone nice.

The woods of Vermeda and the surrounding lands had almost become Imber's second home. He loved the vastness — the uncertainty and mystery — of the world beyond. He traveled through the dense evergreens with a growing ease, twigs and such splayed out in his fluff. It was the familiar voice and crimson pelt of @Eisa that caused the Prince to stop in his tracks.

Eisa, the cub chuffed with a clement smile, noticing his older sister's hesitation as she froze. He approached, attempting to nudge his temple against his sister's cheek in a display of affection. Are you okay? Imber offered, always the mindful little brother.

Out of everyone she could expect to see, her brother is a surprise. @Imber appearing, makes her immediately move to smooth her fur, to look more at ease- more comfortable than she inwardly felt. She had to be the brave older sister, after all.

"Have you been out here before?" She asked him, a bit in awe of the idea. Imber just seemed so at ease, as if this grove was just another part of the brook. Where-as, Eisa remembered Cassandra and Uncle 'Quila, telling her how unsafe the borders were- and therefore she assumed the world beyond it.

"I haven't left the brook yet," She admits to him, offering him a slight sheepish smile, but it is an honest one- as she waits to see what her brother has to say- she looks around them, letting the awe fill her.

Imber was never one to judge. Purely a compassionate boy, he was just happy to find his sister out here so that he could share the moment with her. Yeah! Don't tell mama though, I don't think she'll be too happy, Imber admitted with an abashed smile, recalling the time that he had trailed his mother to the borders, only to receive a scolding. He wondered if she knew how far he'd ventured some days. Perhaps the near constant mess of sticks and leaves stuck in his downy fur offered some indication of his adventures.

Wanna see something cool that I found earlier? Imber proposed, bumping @Eisa with a shoulder.

Her brother's tone, to her was excited enough that she can't help that her tail curls happily. "It's our secret." Well, perhaps it wasn't the most responsible older sister thing, but @Imber was fine- was safe, and hadn't been harmed, so this was a safe secret to keep. As Imber bumps her shoulder and asks if she wants to see something cool, she nods. "Yes!" She grins, and then adds-"It's not... dangerous out here?" She questions him, not wanting to seem like a scaredy cat- but wanting to be responsible and smart about this. Mama and Uncle 'Quila had both said... but maybe this part of going over the border wasn't too bad?

It's our secret, @Eisa proclaimed, and Imber beamed cheerily in response. Hmm, I don't think so. We can watch each other's backs, though! Imber replied honestly, a bit unsure himself. Truth be told, he hadn't really considered the possible hazards of venturing out into the wilds without adult supervision — him and Eisa were surely wired a bit differently in that regards. I think it's really pretty out here, The boy added, eyes dreamily wandering up the glistening canopy.

Perhaps it was her nature to consider all the dangers around them, but she really thought that this place was really pretty and she hadn't seen... anything dangerous- so maybe she could just enjoy it. "I'll always watch your back." She declares with a warm, fond look to her brother. "What's this cool thing?" She asks curiously, wondering what he has found that he wants to show her. She follows his gaze, staring up at the canopy of trees with bright silver eyes. "It's amazing." She agrees simply, as she looks around them. "I think the Brook should make this part of our home too. We've got enough lions." She comments, never-mind the fact that she hadn't seen every one of them- just the ones that came to the training session.

Me too, Imber fervently responded to @Eisa's declaration that she'd always watch his back. It was true; Imber was dedicated fully to his family, siblings most of all. It went without saying that the boy would do anything to protect his sisters and brother, even if he was technically the youngest of the Sigrun children. I like that nobody lives here, Imber mused wistfully, eyes following the zigzagging branches up above before settling back on Eisa's vermillion form, It's peaceful.

After a moment of contemplation and listening to the whistling leaves, Imber started for the heart of the woods, looking behind him to make sure that Eisa was close behind, I think it was this way!

To her, the declaration of trust, and the 'I've got your back' is something that keeps Eisa strong and going. She adores her family, loves them more than anything. She beams at @Imber and as he speaks about this place- she boldly declares. "This can be ours we'll claim it." She says. "We can share it just with our family." She decides.

She follows him, dutifully, wondering what he's got to show her and hoping that it is something marvelous and magnificent. She would stick close to Imber, following him through the wood, to match his pace- her excitement bubbling from her, as her tail curls over her spine.

Imber purred agreeably at Eisa's sentiment as they continued off through the woods, keeping his fur brushing against his sister's in an affectionate display of sibling camaraderie. He craned his ears forward as a trickling sound grew louder, hinting that the two young adventurers were getting close. Here! Imber beamed, pushing through the undergrowth to reveal the picturesque image of a bubbling brook, which meandered off further into the dense foliage of the grove. A downed tree, entirely hollowed and cocooned with a lush layer of moss, lay across the stream to form a natural bridge. It was almost as if the forest wanted them to cross. Imber's chest puffed out as he turned to regard @Eisa once again, It's like a tunnel!
