It is the quiet yet confident voice of @Caillen that draws Maia's attention away from the herd in the distance. Her orange-yellow eyes move away and fall on the younger figure and for a moment, a frown forms on her features. The girl is vaguely recognizable from her time in the Mire. Kinki? She questions, a slightly unsure tone to her voice. The girl seemed to have good ideas, and Maia valued the girl's opinions. You can help winding them, if you feel like you can do that? @Axelle is next to speak and Maia turns her head to the other lioness. A good question, well posed. You're best disguising your scent with water, or some sort of faeces. The direction of the wind helps too, especially if you try and stay downwind. The ashen lioness explains, and nods at the girl's offer to herd. @Renly remained quiet and Maia observed the girl as she proceeded to disguise her scent with the mud. She smiled at the quiet lioness and eventually assigned her a role. Would you mind helping me and @Sedona bring down the prey?A key role in the hunt that would be detrimental to their success. Maia nods at @Myra and knows that the Mire lioness knew what she was talking about. @Aidoneus enters next and there is a vague familiarity about the lioness that Maia wishes to follow up a little later; perhaps the Tolkien could grab the lioness after the hunt had finished. She nods, though, at her proposal. That would be useful. Thank you,Maia comments, before looking to those that hadn't yet put themselves forward. Anyone who hasn't been given a role, you can help with herding and pushing. If things look as though they are going south, please jump in and help. I want no injuries here today.Maia comments with quite a stern tone, before turning her head and looking back at the herd. Let's go.She whispers and draws her group into the thick bush, which would provide them with enough cover to advance without being seen. She is reliant on the success of those herding the animals, but Maia knows with the size of the team, failure would not be an option. But it is not zebra that appears from the bush: it is instead a giant forest hog, which caught the grey lioness by surprise. But nonetheless - Maia works with those around her to bring down the hog, and any additional prey they might aim for. With her sides heaving, she looks around for her daughter. As long as she was safe, Maia did not mind the outcome. And she was: walking over to her daughter, she kissed the girl on her head and then proceeded to depart back home to the Mire with the fresh kill - a sign of new beginnings. Spring
The rain is slowly peetering out across the lands, though it is still heaviest in the east and lightest in the west. Thankfully, however, the temperature is steadly rising and the sun no longer hides behind the clouds. In celebration of the new season, the vegetation is alive and lush and plants are growing wildly across the valley. Spring is in the air!

Fissure had met @Axelle previously, and while she seemed a bit short tempered he could not help but find her amusing. Today her antics would bring a humorous smirk to his face, opting to roll in the smelly grasses instead of dirty her fur in mud. "You are welcome darling." She had not thanked him, but he hadn't expected her to.
The hunt would go well, considerable planning had only afforded them one pig however, hardly enough to fill everyone up. He would decide to leave it for the others, knowing he could always go hunting again for himself later, as much for something fun to do as well as dinner.
"Well done everyone. I offer up my share to whoever needs it." He announced before deciding it was time to take his leave of them.

The girl did as best as she could to slather on as much mud as she could to cover her body. Trying desperately to reach a few places that were a bit harder to get to and ultimately ended up sinking down the ground to connect herself with the mud. Problem solving at its finest. At least this way she could be a bit more covered and wouldn't have to have anyone wait on her. Nor would she be the reason they potentially failed. When @Maia gave her a job to do the Valour nodded her head with assured confidence. That was easy, she could do that in her sleep. She thinks she could, anyways.
Eventually she settles herself and the hunt is over before they know it. A flash of time passes them and they managed their prey with much effort. Renly barely took a piece of the meat out of respect for the other prides that had gathered to help. Just enough to give her a taste and to leave something in the caches for anyone else who wanted a fresh piece. exit renly.

Ranger exp +15 BWP boosted thread +5 Take down easy/medium prey +5 Take part on a dice rolled hunt "Kinki?" Her old name came from the wam, a woman that now that she found herself close enough seemed very familiar. From a long time ago..before Alaric had taken the Mire. She was but a young cub, and she grew up thinking she was left behind while Alaric and those who followed him took her under their wing. Ears pinned as she felt uncertainty. But not now, they needed to hunt. And like that she did her part of running them, and at the end they won themselves a good meal. All done she turned back at Maia. "Good to see you again." Truthful even if she didn't know if it did. "Ser you later!" And like that, and taking chunks of meat with her she left. Exit |

The two groups split apart, the gray Hollow woman leading some into the dense vegetation to lie in wait while the group Myra had unconsciously labeled herself the leader of fanned into the tall grasses to accomplish their given task. Stealthily, she slipped closer to the striped herd, assuming her chosen position to begin herding the beasts back towards her partners' waiting claws and fangs.
But there are always surprises to be had. There is a hog roaming along the outskirts of the herd, seemingly confused by the endless stream of black and white and the constant stamping of many hooves. It startled easily once the presence of the hunters becomes apparent, being the first thing to break away from the larger group. An easy target, and so Myra naturally diverts her attention there.
Perhaps it wasn't the meal they were expecting, but it's a meal nonetheless, and a hearty one at that. While the hog might not exactly make a feast... it's a step in the right direction. The rain has stopped, and the herds are returning. It might be a temporary reprieve from the turmoil, but Myra thinks that she has a good feeling about it. And her hunter's instincts don't often lead her astray.
@Maia had proven to be a respectable huntress herself, and Myra would give her a nod of acknowledgement before moving in to collect her share of the meat (and @Fissure's too, since he was so kind as to offer it up.) "Good work. Let's hope we have many more hunts like this in the coming season." With that farewell of sorts, the huntress would soon make her departure.

Sedona slowed herself to a stop, taking a few moments to try and catch her breath through vigorous panting. She parted her jaws in a gape, glancing around at the other lions who had helped them. While they had taken down the hog in the nick of time, she could not help but be frustrated by all of the prey they had not taken down.
"So much for feeding the whole pride," she remarked sourly to her mother, who seemed to take it all in stride. A darker lion offered up his share and turned to leave, which a mire lioness quickly took, even when the hollow made up most of the hunters there. Typical. Not wanting to linger there any longer than needed when the weather could turn at any moment, Sedona scrambled on her mother's heels to return home, her face flushed with satisfaction.

It goes as she had suspected. Their success had been promised, by their many hands and aptitude. Congregated and ready, with only the youth’s firm bravado marking the start of their drive towards triumph. Their movements were quick, practiced. They were timely and all the very important things needed to see a hunt go successfully. To have them bring down their prey, to fill their bellies and caches. Aidoneus did what she could to assist, hampered by the added weight, hampered by anxiety that she could do harm to her unborn children. She did as she could, drive prey into the mouths of those who’d bring them down; mindful of those stray kicks and the wheeling strikes of frightened prey. And once they found success, she sank into the peripherals, allowing those who’ve risked more to take what they had please. And once she felt it proper to do so, she drifted in and did the same. exit
