The red hunter lounges above the frozen cliffs, breathing in the crisp winter air, a mountainous perch set below his athletic frame as he leans forward with a curling intensity.  Hunger - the need to feed - became an incessant ache; a gnawing hurt at the core of his stomach, making him feel restless and wary and churlish.  He'd track the prey's scent from a long distance, studying their moving formations, assessing the direction of the savage winds as the wintry gusts blew past him, torrential and battering. He'd wonder if others would pick up the same trail, the faintest scent of prey lost to the ragged, raging winds, a melody and promise laced in blood. In silence he waits, lingering by the edge, fangs peering from his lips, seeing if any would come and indulge.

5 years old • Lvl 3 Ranger Maia had grown concerned for the welfare of both her children and their home when she had caught wind of the sudden and unexplained changes in weather that Amaryllis had been experiencing. She slipped away from Obsidian without a sound, alerting only Jafar where she had wanted to go. She had wanted to hunt somewhere local, but the distinct lack of prey that the biomes close to home had meant she had been forced to travel further. As she pushed through scorching fires, blistering winds and relentless storms, Maia questioned just exactly what she was doing this for. But then her stomach rumbled and she pushed on. The ashen lioness found herself at the cusp of civilization, within the confines of Ilere's Freeze. It had been some time since she had been this far north-east, but needs must when she had mouths to feed. The snow was thick and hard to move through and the gales deafening, but eventually her eyes fell on the figure of @Amaroq, whose vibrant colour stood out against the contrast of the ivory snow. She walked up to him, entering to his right. Hello, She calls out, half shouting to ensure she is heard through the harshness of the snow storm. Are you here to hunt? She asks, looking around as her ears pinned themselves against her crown. I'm Maia, and I'm also here to hunt. Another day, another natural disaster he had to navigate. As exciting as watching the chaos in the beginning was, it was becoming more of a concern to him now. When would things calm again and what would summer in Amaryllis look like when spring was all but bypassed in regions like this one? Mother, let things be settled soon and he promised he would worship the harsh mistress every day.

Arriving on the scene, eager to do some running to warm himself up against the fridged cold. As much as he could endure the weather, he did not have a coat of long fur to buffet the winds. The herd animals that were up here must be equally miserable, perhaps sluggish and more easily taken. Eyes would hold on the deep red male, speaking to @Amaroq rather casually, with a hint of awe perhaps. "You stand an impressive figure in the snow. I offer my hunting prowess to your cause." He informed, falling silent and offering a nod to the lioness as well.

It was unlikely the scarlet male was aware, but he was roaming around in Asylum's territory. Her family lived up this way, the snow-capped north as familiar, even more familiar to her than the mire was. She had been here the majority of the time during whatever this chaotic upheaval of the lands was caused by.

She had been observing the herd movements as well, finding them erratic and difficult to predict of late. It would seem the animals were just as confused and uncertain as the lions. Perhaps she could be of assistance in a hunt, if only because she knew the lands well and how best to traverse them. It seemed unlikely these lions knew the best routes or where the deepest snowdrifts were.

She could help direct them, or she could watch @Amaroq lead and see how skilled he was as a leader. She doubted he could top her prior hunt which had resulted in the capture of an elephant. Let's see what you can do then. She challenged him in a quiet drawl._{BG — ART — CODE}

In the wake of all the strange events happening recently, it was slowly becoming necessary for Myra to venture further and further outside of her usual haunts in the pursuit of prey. The herbivores weren't any better equipped to deal with the disasters than the lions were, and their herd movements had become a bit erratic in their efforts to find safety.

They must truly be desperate by now, Myra mused to herself as she tracked today's quarry all the way up into the snowy mountains. This place seemed even colder now than it had been the last time she'd passed through, as if it were the depth of winter and not the middle of spring. The gusting winds cut merciless through her short coat, and the huntress found herself having to clench her jaw hard to keep her teeth from chattering.

She feels somewhat relieved when she spots Amaroq's crimson coat, bright against the background of endless white. It's even better to see that he has already amassed a following here. Without aid, Myra's uncertain that she would be able to fell anything in this frigid and foreign environment. Even so, it doesn't keep her from smirking when she drew alongside @Asylum, catching the younger's casual words. "Don't get too lax now. I'll be watching you too." The lead huntress commented lightly, only half-teasing.

Harsh winds, cold airs embraced the yearling with strength. Chilling air in her lungs.

The young woman picked any chances to go beyond the Mire's borders. With her emotions all over the place, she required more and more chances to clean them without the risk of bothering the rest. The idea of being a bother again, she knew she didn't need to but she just did just in case..

Ears pulled backwards as she fought the intense breeze against her face. She was here not only for space to deal with her idiotic mind but also to hunt. Yes, to test hunting under these harsh weather.

A hunter needed to be prepared to hunt in any climate. She wanted to explore new tactics and do so with doing it more than being told.

Luckily she wasn't the only one with that in mind. She nodded finding @Myra, @Asylum whom she fought against on the past and @Amaroq. Lions from her pride. Smiling not only to them but the others around she prepares herself to help out.

it's cold.

the wintry bite of the tundra chills her to her core - the air feels as if it freezes in her lungs, seizing her chest as she carefully bounds over the icy cliffs. desdemona's breath leaves her in harsh clouds as she goes, afraid to slow her pace lest she, too, becomes another soul lost to the unforgiving wilds. her mind is set solely on any trace of her scattered family, though the scent of prey becomes her momentary driving force as she realizes just how hungry she is. not too far off, she spots a group gathered and sidles up alongside the outside of the group. the patchwork cat pays no real attention to any of the lions, fangs and claws ready to hunt, and for once, is fine with the idea of being support if only to grab a scrap or two to keep her fed for her journey.

Had it been intended playfully or not, Asylum appeared unimpressed by @Myra's comment, eyes conveying her disinterest in banter with the female. She did not know her despite being from the same pride. Asylum didn't really know anyone there outside of the king, the lion who claimed her there, and now @Amaroq as well.

The hunt would begin, and of all the things to find in the cold this far north was a giraffe. The ravaged lands of Amaryllis were truly affecting every living creature within them. She imagined he was already worn down, freezing cold and struggling to even walk in the snow as his weight caused him to sink all the way in.

She would do her part to help bring it down, trying to drive him towards the deeper snow drifts that she was familiar with. One plus to living here and knowing the lands was knowing the hidden traps the snow provided._{BG — ART — CODE}

@Asylum doesn't seem particularly impressed with Myra's presence, but she isn't all that bothered by the lack of response. Myra is the Mire's lead huntress, after all. Everyone else will simply have to get used to her critical eye, if they haven't already.

If ever there was a sign that times were desperate right now, the sight of a lone giraffe struggling its way through the snow drifts was certainly it. How lost and hungry it must have been to end up here, in this frost-covered place devoid of trees. Giraffes are gangly, graceless creatures at the best of times, but the snow only makes the poor beast clumsier, making it unable to escape them even with its long stride.

A snow giraffe, eh? Now I've seen it all." She comments once it's all said and done, blood stained on her muzzle. "But it should tide us over for quite some time, at least." A safety net like this is sorely needed, with all the craziness going on. Who knows how much longer the herd will stick around for?

With such a hefty prize, there's no reason besides the swirling snow not to eat her fill now, but she is eager to collect what she can in addition to that, to fill the pride's stores. She would urge her pridemates to carry what they could too, before she finally made her departure.
