That one. She picked out one next to the star she'd just selected for her Daddy. And then just as quickly her bronze paws began to wander the surrounding stars, jutting and pointing at as many nearby ones as she had siblings. And this is for Alester. And this one is for Spiritus... Each one given to a member of her family.

Are they close enough to be a constellation? Can our family be a constellation together? She didn't quite know the rules of things (or that a constellation was usually a familiar shape even) nor did she care that this might just be a ceremonial thing between her and her father, without meaning to any other soul. She wanted her family gathered up together in the beautiful sky.

Caligula smiled as the girl chose a star close to the one that she had chosen for him. To the bronze male it spoke volumes. The girl wished to remain close to him, even when placed within the sky. He adored that, family was important to him. Or well, his children were all important to him. All of his children, older or younger, and even those that had been adopted along the way. The maneless lion loved each of the equally. He wanted them all to succeed and grow and be happy in their lives. He wanted them to be able to experience everything to the fullest.

"Sure, they can be a constellation." He said, indulging the child. It might never be a true constellation that anyone else would recognize but what was the harm in creating their own? "What are we going to call our constellation?" Let the girl have her hopes and dreams, there was no need to shatter them over something as inconsequential as renaming a few stars. Besides, who all really knew the stories of the stars other than himself? He didn't know of too many that could recite them or to name the stars.

The bronze lion then pointed out the stars that made up the constellation Aquila. "Those stars there are in Aquila. Constellations make pictures in the sky. Aquila is an eagle." Next he replicated the position of the stars on the ground to give the girl a better picture of them. He created pinpricks in the ground for the stars and then drew lines to connect them so that she could see the image of the bird they made.

I think we call it, the snuggle pile! She christened them with a bubbling laugh. She dug her face and nose up against Caligula's fur and nuzzled deeply into her father's warmth.

Her brightly lit and engaged teal eyes flirted around to the stars her father points out. With @Caligula's expert tracing and quick instruction Dio could see the shape of an eagle streaking across the night sky. It was exciting at first but then she realized something. Her family's new constellation was... well what was it? A name was hard... but a picture? What sort of picture should their family's constellation make? Feeling the pressure Dio began to softly whimper, panickily looking more quickly around the stars. "The snuggle pile. Great name." The bronze male was quick to encourage his daughter. He was basking in the warmth of her excitement. Dio was happy and that was all that really mattered to him. He practically purred when he was nuzzled into. All he could do was seek to press himself into the affection since he couldn't reach the girl on his back to be able to return it himself.

What he hadn't meant to do with his display was to cause a mild existential crisis. "Aquila means eagle so it has to look like an eagle. Ours is called snuggle pile and that is exactly what it looks like, all the stars are snuggled up to each other." The proximity of the stars worked in their favor. Especially when the stars were thought of as individuals just as Dio had named them out to be. "You did a great job making a new constellation."

Her dad saved the day. Her panic is quickly brought to calm as he points out the obvious, in his very smart @Caligula way. Their constellation already has the perfect picture and once he calls it out Dio can see it clear as day overhead. She gasps a little and nods. Yes- it's perfect!

She is beyond satisfied with the work done tonight a great wrong had been righted and her entire family had stars now up in the sky. With the criis averted another feeling seems to come over Dio. It is obvious now that sleep is starting to call to her again. It sings and whispers softly into Dio's ear and caused her eyelids to droop down over her teal eyes. She speaks again, but her voice is quieter than before and tinged at the edges with flights of slumber and dream. Can you come tuck me into bed? She sweetly asked, never dreaming that her father would ever refuse such a request from his children.

"Just like you." Caligula felt all of his children were perfect exactly the way that they were. He would never wish to change them in the slightest. Caligula knew what it felt like to feel as if it were impossible to live up to family expectations. He never wanted his own children to experience that. He wanted them to know that they were loved and accepted exactly as they were. They never had to change to please him.

Caligula smiled when he was asked to tuck the girl into bed. "Of course I can, sweetheart." The bronze male rose carefully so that his daughter wouldn't be dislodged from his back. He made his way back towards the den with the aim of carrying the girl with him so that he could settle her back amongst her brothers.
