He had to admit it was a strange sight. A flamingo in the forest to begin with was odd and he wondered how this thing got there in the first place. But the attitude he brought with him? Infectious. It was like he owned the place even though he was all alone out here. Aquila approached and didn't try too hard to hide, it was hard to resist watching the thing preen around all big and mighty. But maybe his children would enjoy the feathers as a toy? It was not a huge bit of meat anyways. Not something he immediately pegged as a meal.

This was most certainly the part of the month that she enjoyed most was when everyone could get together and go for a quick hunt. It certainly made things a lot easier to be able to integrate herself and show everyone what she was capable of. She just hoped that the hunt could further her skill and knowledge of her chosen trades. Wandering in and following the scent of an avian creature, she turned her head down to see the webbed foot pattern on the dry ground and began to proceed forward. Noticing its sharp points at the top but its rounded bottom, recognizing it instantly as more of an aquatic bird than one consistently in flight or in the trees. Once arriving, seeing @Aquila present was nurturing and definitely made her feel confident that she could show him how much she had grown.

Maybe a little nervous, too, since he was High Sovereign, but she had to reason with herself that he was family and that Mama was Sovereign and they weren't too different from each other and she wasn't nervous around Mama. So she gave the best smile she could and settled in, admiring the footprints of the flamingo even if they were truly hard to discern. Despite the fact that they stood on one leg, they very obviously had two and walked with two. Their webbed feet made for an easy discovery about what it was that they were looking at. Flamingos were the most common around here and were certainly quite unique, from their distinct coloration to the rounded yet pointed sections of their prints they left behind.

Valkravn was just getting done visiting her brother's burial when she became distracted by something in the corner of her eye. She noticed the flash of pink and moved in its direction, nose in the air as she took in deep inhales. The scent of flamingo would cause for a leonine brow to rise, wondering just how the bird had found its way to Vermeda. Nonetheless, the pink woman would head in that direction, soon enough catching sound and scent of two others that had also gathered at the unexpected visitor. What a big feast. The Viking would muse in a humorous tone, tail flicking behind her as she came up to one of @Aquila's free sides.

Gareth moved alongside the borders expectantly, at a jogging pace to keep his blood flowing and his mind working. It was so much easier to do this in the early hours of the morning when the sun was barely waking. Then it wasn't scorching and there was always a light breeze that would send whatever scents there were from outside to the inside. Made his job easier at least. Picking his pace up ever so slightly he could hear something nearby, something food related, but he could also scent his fellow pride mates even closer. So he moved quickly towards their location where he could feel his heart beating in his chest and only began to slow as he stopped near to the party, easing his breaths carefully to slow his heart back down to normal so that he wouldn't be too exhausted to participate in a hunt of a single bird.

The hunt was very quick as she made for a fell swoop on the limb-y beast. They weren't much of a fighter but they sure were slippery little birds! Flopping around and trying to take flight while the lot of cats went after it. It wasn't a big meal for anyone but it would help the pride in the future. So once everyone had taken their deep breaths, Renly made sure to show her own appreciation. Good job, guys! she chuckled, I know a flamingo ain't much but it's somethin' at least. They would have success today and didn't have to leave knowing they failed a flimsy pink bird. That was something to be proud of. Off to the side she could see where the flamingo had laid in some fresh prints just before it had tried to run. Webbed little feet with their archs at the back and their pointed toes at the forefront. It didn't seem to be pressed into the mud very hard which was enough to tell Renly that that was because they didn't weight much at all. As unsatisfying a find as a single flamingo was, the sunset youth wasn't going to let them kill her parade.

The ring around the rosie game with the flamingo wasn't much of a fuss but he did put his back into it. Moving swiftly through the Brook and stomping through shallow waters as it tried desperately to find its wings and fly. Unfortunately, chasing a bird didn't exactly give him the exercise he needed and the job didn't take very long. Easing himself to a solid stand and gazing at his peers but mostly taking a look to one of his nieces who tried to encourage their measly find. A glass half full kind of girl, he reckoned, seeing as how she was making one single flamingo sound like a whole meal in a way.

"If I may-" He reached forwards with more delicate teeth and aimed to wrap around some of the longer, brighter, feathers from the carcass. Plucking them before the rest of the meat turned into a meal and the scene gory. They had a bit of blood speckles on them, were ruffled and tossed a bit, but would do. "-Thank you all. This might distract the boys from chewing on us a bit." He mused, slightly muffled from the grasp he had on the feathers. The fate of the remaining carcass did not concern him. And he trusted his pride to make good use of it, whatever they decided. He nodded to the other three but took his leave then- having other, smaller, pride members on his mind.

Valkravn may have been a bit worried if they hadn't been able to bring down the brightly colored bird. But the few that had gathered were what made their hunt a success, and once the flamingo was felled would the Viking take a step back to look at the others. She would give @Renly a nod at her words; even if it wasn't a larger prey it still kept their instincts and skills sharp, and sometimes a bird wasn't always so simple to catch. Eyes would then watch as Aquila nabbed a few feathers, giving a soft chuckle at his comment about not being a chew toy for the time being, and after a moment's thought, she, too would take to it to grab a couple of the larger feathers for herself. Once satisfied would she head to her den to add the feathers in for a nice aesthetic touch.
