Finding herself terribly disappointed and hating the sand that clung to her longer furs, Devika found a place to seemed to be hidden so nicely within the Dune's territory. It caused the heat on her back from the sun to ease off and cool down drastically. It was a pleasant feelings as Devika would find herself laying on the cool rocks of the hideaway and sighing in relief when she rolled onto her back. Ears twisting as she listened to all of the strange noises within the caverns she had came upon and what creatures she didn't know about. Eventually she wanted to learn everything about the land she was born into and would make her family proud.

He had no idea how he got to where he were. One minute he had set out from his faction to start a life of his own without so many restrictions and the next he found himself padding along what seemed to be a never ending expanse of sand. Drastically different from the heavily wooded terrains he were used to, Ruger's lip would curl back in distaste as he continued forward. Surely, there had to be other territories around here, right?
As sand wedged its way in between his toes and causing for the brute to release a low snarl, crimson eyes would spot a cave of sorts not too far from him. Maybe that was his way out of this hellish desert. With a quickened gait would the wheaten lion clear the distance, pushing past the entry and allowing for his gaze to take a good once over. He couldn't see another passageway, only tunnels that seemed to lead further into itself, and... a child? Ruger would stand still as he stared at the peach girl, watching her with a rather confused expression. Why was she here? Was she here alone?

What're you doin', kid?He would finally ask, gaze never leaving her.

Squirming on the cold floor, Devika had been content with being alone and not harassed by family members but that wasn't the case. Having scratched majority of the sand out of her Pelt, the voice scared her and caused her to flop to her side quickly and stand to her paws in a defensive position as she faced the new Comer. Orange jewels landed on the older, much older than she, lion and at the question he presented. I was scratching my back. She would state defensively. Devika didn't know why she was trying to defend herself as she watching him curiously. The only adults she had been around were her parents and Gawains crew. What are you doing? She would pointedly ask him.

Crimson eyes watched as she rolled over, ears twisting backward only slightly as she responded. The way she responded had him a little taken aback, and he wondered if this was how these lands were. If the cubs were defensive then were the adults, too?
@Devika
I'm lookin' for a way to greener pastures,he would reply, giving the cave they were in another look. He wondered if one of these tunnels would lead him out to the other side, also leading him somewhere with some fresh water and a nice place to rest his head and allow for his tired legs to relax some. But something told him he wouldn't be that lucky.
Are you here alone?A leonine brow would raise with the query, gaze falling back onto the peach girl.
@Devika

Of course Devika was defensive. That was just how she was. At least in her mind that was how she was. Anyways. Her ears would twitch at his response to her question, though she was curious on what he meant and it caused for the speckled child to tilt her head at him and narrow those orange fire jewels. Whatcha mean by that? Mama nor Papa had ever spoken like that before and she was just being curious about it. However, at his own question her floppy ears would sort of flatten as best as they could on top of her head. No, my mama and papa are close. No they weren't, but she kept her head held up high. Don't let him know you just lied child.

Her query about what he had said would cause for inky lips to pull into a subtle grin.
The cub would then say that her parents weren't too far away, simply nodding his head. Whether or not he believed her was another story, but the girl had nothing to fear with him being around.
@Devika
Just lookin' for somewhere nice and green to relax at a bit.Cubs were always so curious about life, wanting to learn everything they could and ask just as many questions. Ruger didn't mind it much, though, and instead enjoyed being able to teach the younger generations a thing or two - just maybe not always what their parents wanted them to learn.

Good, good,he would respond with a nod of his maw.
It's smart to keep them close by.Tail would flick before he reclined back onto his haunches, red gaze watching the girl.
What's your name? I'm Ruger.There was no specific reason he introduced himself to her, but on the off chance that something were to happen to her and other lions began to search, he would at least be able to say whether or not he'd seen her if they just so happened to come across him.
@Devika

Oh. She would squeak at him before deciding to not ask anymore. She was completely fine with not asking anymore questions as she would settle a bit away from @Ruger. Though her orange jewels never left that other's form as he sat down and commented on her small little lie. Well at least she thought it was a lie because Devika had no clue where her parents were right now, so they could be anywhere. However, he did not need to know that as they continued on with their talk. Though he did ask for her name, giving his own before she answered. Devika. She would state boldly.

There he would continue to sit and look around, taking note of where he were really at. This territory didn't seem to have many useful things other than having this hideaway of sorts to take cover from the relentless sun, even if it were in the cooler months. He would stifle a yawn that was threatening to be released, feeling the sudden wave of exhaustion beginning to hit him like a ton of bricks. But he couldn't fall asleep in front of the girl, so instead he gave his head a slight shake and allowed for his gaze to focus back onto her, just in time for her to introduce herself.
Pretty name, @Devika,he would comment with a nod of his maw in agreement. And then his attention would finally be stolen by the rather unique marking on her side, a slight rise of a brow being given.
That's an interesting marking there,he would comment, tail flicking behind him as his body finally was defeated and causing for him to lower himself onto his belly to lay down, front limbs stretching before him and hind limbs kicking out to the side. To him, the marking looked more like a heredity thing than just being a coincidence she were born with it, but you know what they say about when you assume things...

She watched him closely as he seemed to be fighting away exhaustion which only made her think that perhaps she should leave. But being a cub, curious and determined to find out everything she could, Devika would stay put and watch him closely. I like your name too. @Ruger had complimented her on her own name so she felt like she should do the same. Granted, it wasn't entirely the truth. His name sounded boring but that was something she'd keep to herself for now. And then her marking. The very thing that she was proud of which caused her to puff out her chest. It's my family's marking. My mama has it and my grandpa too! Devika couldn't remember if Naga had it or not.

He could tell by the change in her demeanor that the marking she had was a bit of a proud thing to her. He would watch her in subtle amusement as she replied, telling him that it was something that was in her family and stating that both her mother and grandfather had one just like it. Ruger always thought that genetics was a rather funny thing - take his mask, for example. Nobody in his family for generations had it and yet he were born with one, causing for him to always be the odd one.
That is pretty cool,he would reply with a nod of his head. Stifling a yawn would the brute finally decide it was time for him to make his exit, needing to still find some food to fill his hungry belly as well as fresh water and a nice place to settle down for the night (or two). Slowly rising to all fours would he shake out his mane before glancing back over at @Devika.
I should get going, but it was very nice to meet you Devika. Get back to your parents safe, yeah?With a farewell smile would he push toward one of several tunnels, hoping that this one would lead to an exit.
exit Ruger.
