July Y13
Summer
Summer is in full swing now, with clear skies, warm nights, and ample sunshine! As such, the deserts begin to grow dry, the shores remain a blissful escape, the north is spared with cooling winds, and humidity continues to rise in the jungle. Rain and storms are long forgotten troubles by now, which is both a virtue and a vice during the heat of the season.

Kinki as always didn't know about the gravity of the event that took place not long ago, all came too fast for her childish brain that she forgot for once it happened. This was just part of her many particularities that many had marked as from someone dumb or not fit to love in someone's home. She sat there in a clearing, as the night tool over the Mire, stars shining bright and a moon up in the skies. She felt the wind cross hard through the trees and up to her long fue, pointy ears up and about. She wasn't too far from the den she had been living since she was brought here. Bobbed tail moving around but as it was short it wasn't as noticeable. Eyes of pale blue rested on the sky above, as she went into a knelt position. All was quite, that alone made her not scared but curious. And some fog made it through some parts. @Alaric

He was patrolling his new lands, getting to know the intricacies. Alaric was a new King and duty was heaped heavy on his shoulders, but he welcomed this change. The few members that had stayed intrigued him, but when he spotted the small girl (and gosh she was tiny) he was equal parts concerned. Approaching carefully he chuffed at the minuscule creature, stopping a few strides away so as not to be too frightening. For all his rough edges he was surprisingly gentle with children. “Are you alright, child?” Because why hadn’t she left with the rest? Was she an orphan, perhaps? |

She yawned bored at the silence and loneliness. But the concept of abandonment was unknown even if she had already lived such thing, but she never realized nor saw her parents departure as that. It was part of life but for her it meant nothing, or she just didn't though enough about it. A cricket made it's sound, owls doing their own, it sounded fun, interesting in a great manner. "Oh!" She smiled.
She stood up to stretchy her skinny limbs, lurking eyes contemplating the night. That until she heard steps, approaching steps. She turned her face to find the lion who fought yet to know. The good and evil weren't too known, so she held no bad feelings towards the male. And many other would be. "Hi hi!" She stood up and rushed to him. Stoping before his enormous frame. "Yes! I'm okay!" She was okay. @Alaric seemed okay too. She was happy he was okay too. "Chu okay?"

She was a peculiar creature, a bundle full of more energy than he could fathom. Children were often that way, and he wondered if his own cubs would be so… enthusiastic. Alaric snorted at the mere thought, unlikely as it was. “I’m ok,” he answered simply. Sure he was marked by the fight, but they were wounds that would heal, and they were nothing like he had endured before. He tilted his head, studying her closely. She was young, too young to be away from her parents, and he wondered at her life so far. “my name is Alaric,” he offered, and wondered if she would tell him her name in return. |

"yay!" She was happy he was okay! Well she felt that way whenever someone said all was okay, that was something that gave her joy but she just didn't know that, she had a hard time figuring out her emotions. She was smart as any other lion but her way of seeing the world was different and that often made her being mistaken by being a weakling. She was but not as much as she appeared to be. She smiled big at the man who she didn't know she was supposed to be mad at. But she haven't had much bonding with those who used to live here, and thus she felt no strong connection with anyone, no urge to be with them.
"Mah name is Kinki!" A name as weird as her, given to fit how she was seeing by her family. But she never cared nor though on that in a bad way, not in any way. Neutral and without much interest. But @Alaric did seemed interesting.

kinki. now that was a name. alaric wasn't entirely sure about letting the child stay -- really what use could a cub be? -- but a part of him was hesitant to simply kick her out. "are you... happy here, @kinki?" he wanted to feel out what the girl was thinking, what she was planning, and where the heck were her parents? or caretakers? had this pride taken her in without having anybody properly look after her? his brow creased in a frown at the thought, caring less and less for those that had lived here before him. "there is food in the cache's... do you have a den?" why he cared was beyond him, but something compelled him to ask all the same. |

She yawned, but from hunger. Days without food was serious but she didnt know that, all she wanted was to explore or catch bugs, but she found it joyfull to make other happy, for reasons she didnt know, she just felt the need to see other smile, laught or have fun. But she held no much reasoning after that. There were a lot of things she still didnt know. But she could still learn them, with time but secure.
Are you happy here? @Alaric asked. "Yes!" She said without thinking, just raw from her mind. She felt happy regardless of how lonely she felt here sometimes, the change of lions didnt bring a difference, loneliness remained.
"Here!" In the outside, as her old den collapsed and she was forced to sleep outdoors.

the more he learned the more unhappy he was, not with her but with the situation overall. a cub left to fend for herself, with no shelter from the weather? sure it was summer, but the daytime heat could get to be a bit much even here.
"let's find you a den, alright?" oddly enough he turned towards where his was -- the one he had taken over, the largest of the abandoned few he had found. "and some food?" he was not blind to the fact that she looked to be a little on the skinny side, as if she had not had a good meal in days. she was not his child but he was somehow now responsible for the girl, even if he had every intention of finding a better caretaker for her as soon as possible.

The smile in her face attached hard on her expression, she smiled most of the time, not noticing it of course. She perhaps didn't have reasons no to, ignoring all the bad tings happening in her short life. Abandonment in a side, seeing a sibling perish and never notice and the not rare disgust she provoked in others, she was small and weak, no one wanted such creature, and all of her life everything pointed at her not finding love and care in her existence. But she still smiled, tendrils of joy regardless of her situations. It was all she had and just didn't know.
"Yes!" To his offer, a den sounded okay, she wasn't string enough yet to make herself one so she took the outdoors as her place to sleep. She hoped with each step like of nothing bothered her. Eyes traveling around and then to @Alaric. "Food!" Food she has been away from for a while.

the girl radiated a happiness he was unused to, especially from one so small and inexperienced. it brought a slight frown to his face, even as she readily agreed to his offers.
"you will have to learn to take care of yourself, too. come to the pride hunts and watch and learn." there was a certain sternness to his voice, though not enough to come across as harsh. alaric didn't want to keep pride members that relied on handouts, and if she was going to stay she was going to have to be able to fend for herself to some extent.
"come, now," to the cache that was slowly emptying, to ensure she had the strength to hone her skills, "and tell me what skills you have. what do you want to do, @kinki?" was she a fighter? a healer? an ambassador? alaric wanted, needed to know what she aimed for so that he might guide her.
