Hecuba disliked recruiting for the sole reason that it was incredibly difficult. Seraphiel himself had essentially shown up on her doorstep and invited himself in, and who was she to deny the towering beast his choice of home? He had been an invaluable asset to the pride both before and after the rogue attacks alongside Arcania, and she would downright murder anyone who looked at either of them incorrectly. Also, there was a correct way to look at someone, didn't you know? Alas, it was her duty to see if she could convince anyone to join their coastal pride. Today her target was a woman draped in blue, a soft contrast to the steely grey of the sovereign as she approached. "Hello, miss," she called, her lips twisted into a thin smile. It was only when she spotted the Egyptian marking on her shoulder that Hecuba paused. "Kira," she said the name with shock. "You've grown so much." And as Drakon's first litter had grown to resent her in so short a time, she wondered if she would be met with the fury of a dragon instead of a pleasant reunion. @Kira @Drakon |
There was dread anchoring in the pit of her stomach, an uncomfortable twisting of her organs that made the air feel suffocating. Hecuba had never wanted to make her husband's eldest litter feel unworthy or unwanted, had never wished to take their mother's place. It had been a difficult transition for all of them, and being the adult in the situation had meant taking their venom in stride. Worse yet, Hecuba knew her presence had been an important factor in the departure from the pride and family -- these days of turmoil were not what she had ever wanted. Hecuba had only wanted to love her husband and support him however she could, have her own cubs with him. She stood there uncertainly, waiting for some sort of barbed comment. Instead, what she received was nearly a joke. Hecuba released a breath and offered a crooked grin, nodding. "Very much so. I'm glad to see you are doing the same." And truthfully, she was, although it saddened her heart to know Cassandra and Hydra wouldn't be too terribly far beyond their older sister in size. She missed them dearly, those little witches. @Drakon surged onto the scene so quickly her fur blew in the breeze. Hecuba blinked at the barrage of sentiments but lingered in the background, content to let father and daughter have their reunion. The question of her siblings made her anxious, only because she hoped Drakon knew she only meant Rameses and Narsil. She hoped he would keep the other cubs as far away from the conversation as possible, particularly if he wanted a chance at rekindling a relationship. |
'I haven't seen Ram in a while, and Narsil.. Narsil I never got to see. You have other younger siblings here if you'd want to meet them. Teach them things.' Her ears flicked nonchalantly at the mention of both of her littermates, "I am sure they are both just fine.. we are a hardy bunch after all." She said swiftly and for a moment she was tempted to breeze over the fact that she had more younger half siblings but instead she forged onward, addressing the situation head on. After all .. her father had to move on somehow didn't he? "I suppose I could take a look at the hellions." It wasn't an outright yes or no but it was a simple 'I'll try'. "So you two rule together then? Obviously that would be the only reason you'd come to these recruiting grounds I assume.." She spoke then, curious to see what her father had acquired for himself during her absence.
@Hecuba @Drakon
Hecuba clenched her teeth as @Drakon revealed there were new additions to the family. She knew it must be difficult to accept, but the lioness couldn't exactly prevent herself from loving the man and occasionally, children were born from it. It happened. The fact there had only been three since they'd last spoken was surprising itself, but she didn't mention it -- nor did she mention their desire for more. In a way, Hecuba wondered if cornering the dragon into monogamy had saved him more grief in the long run. The children did not seem to approve of the polygamous lifestyle and hadn't from a very young age, though she supposed bitterness towards their mother for leaving had inspired jealousy. Ah, well. Hecuba certainly wouldn't pressure any of Galadriel's children into anything but a tense acceptance, because the steel queen wasn't going anywhere. "Yes," she affirmed @Kira of her suspicions. "Another territory on the coastline. It is beautiful, you must come see." The lioness offered a smile that said I'm trying and fell into line by Drakon, bothered by how unnerved she truly was. |
