A THREAD FOR THEM SPIRIT-Y TYPES

After meddling in the affairs of her father here, she had a good sense that he wasn't the only one that might be here. Something told her that she should keep coming back and laying other foreign objects at the base in order to perhaps summon one. Of course, this also meant that she might accidentally summon her father but if he did, then so be it! Any chance to see her Pops was a good one.

This time she simply laid down a nice flat rock, a couple feathers (not the one's seen behind her ears, of course), and a small rodent that she'd happen across on the way here. It was fresh and it was a clean kill; a prayer had been said for its passing and a blessing given to Maua for the opportunity. Only after she placed the final gift did she take several steps back and wait, completely prepared to wait hours if she had to.

"Dun, dun dun dah dahhh," Toro hummed, his voice muffled around the mouse he carried in his mouth. Trotting along, the tiny babe paid no mind to where he was or where he was going, not even realizing he might be lost at this point. After all, he'd been out for hours at this point and no doubt his father was searching high and low for him. Toro cared naught for the ulcers he gave his family, and in fact it was a miracle the boy was still alive with how far he roamed. He had strange luck that somehow got him out of all kinds of trouble, which was just as well because he managed to get himself into trouble around nearly every corner.

The mouse he carried was his pride and joy. Oh, sure he'd found it dead but what did that matter? Who would know that he wasn't a mighty hunter? Toro had been carrying it so long that he'd even convinced himself that he'd been the one to take it down.

Almost suddenly, Toro realized he didn't know where he was. He stopped in his tracks, the humming fading away as he gazed up and around. He was in some sort of grotto or cave, all kinds of spooky with dripping water in the distance and scary echoes around him. So, per Toro logic, without another moment of hesitation, resumed humming and carried on.

He spotted a figure just ahead, standing before a strange arrangement of items on a rock. Slowing, he crept up along side her, gazing sidelong at her. Had she noticed him yet? He looked at the rodent on the rock in front of them, and carefully went up, placing his own next to it. He turned back to her. "Now what?" he whispered.

"Now play!" The chipper voice called out. The cub was mostly translucent but the brown coloring he had been in life was obvious. The ghost cub moved over to where the pair were at to see what they were looking at.

A bunch of neat things! There were so many treasures there. Two feathers, check. Two mice, check. Gasp! Only one rock! "Need nother rock!" Because it was important for things to come in pairs. Like how you had a Mama and a Papa. But his Mama was missing. Mama never visited like Papa did.

The proclamation was followed by movement. Pyp was quick to dash over to the closest pool of water to inspect it for a rock. But alas, no rock was to be found there.

The woman was quiet and reflective as she waited for what she hoped might come along. Not too many ghosts had been spotted here yet but she could feel the natural pull. Whether or not it was because of her spiritual inclination or simply because it was as it was, she couldn't be quite sure. So when she heard a noise her heart beat a little quicker with excitement before eyes noticed something next to her approaching the gifts that she'd laid out.

At first, she was concerned that it was a creature that was coming to take the mouse that she'd put out as a gift. Only, the creature was very lion-like and put its own down before looking at her with an expectant glance. Surely the kid didn't know what was going on but Talisa smiled all the same, happy to teach. We w-- immediately cut off by the sudden shrill of a voice cutting through the air as another cub came to life in front of them and this one was the most obvious. A ghost! Talisa felt a mental fist pump into the air as her assumptions had proven correct.

The child regarded the gifts with excitement as any cub would but this felt a lot different. After all, Talisa had never expected a child to come out of the Grotto's spectral hold. Well, then a rock we must find! Surely in the presence of two children the two would be more than happy to play the game of Find the Rock while Talisa wished to find the perfect rock. More than anything, this was really just the best gift she could be given. Her love for the spiritual and her love for children mixed together?! The Valour woman could not have asked for a better scenario!

As Toro glanced back at her, she smiled down at him and suddenly Toro knew he was in love. He couldn't recall having really met another lioness besides his mother before and wowee! Her eyes - beautiful. Her fur? Shiny. Starry-eyed, he eagerly watched as she began to speak.

Suddenly, a bright voice rang about the grotto, catching Toro's attention. He jumped, fur puffed up down his spine as he glowered about. "Who goes there?" He demanded fiercely, tiny claws sticking out and scritching on the stone floor as he kneaded impatiently.

Why, it was another cub! Instantly jealous of his newfound girlfriend, Toro glared at the boy, watching him examine the collection of items on the rock. He opened his tiny mouth, about to object, when the boy exclaimed that they needed another rock. Shutting his mouth, Toro squinted at the inventory and realized he was right. This simply wouldn't do. Even his girlfriend agreed. Smiling shyly up at her, Toro shifted his weight from one paw to the other. "I'll find you the best rock," he promised, and romped after the other cub - hardly noticing the boy's shimmering, ghostly nature in the dim light. "It needs to be a really good rock!" Toro said, hardly hesitating in bossing the other around. He didn't mean to be rude, but Toro was the sort of little boy who liked things to be just right.

Pypar had no idea how he came across to others. He just knew whom he was. He didn't consider that he didn't appear the same as he had in life, that he no longer had solid mass to him. Pyp didn't realize that he materialized out of thin air sometimes. For Pyp, he was always around.

"Pyp!" He answered the question of who he was excitedly. But then everything to the spectral pup was an exciting adventure. He still had the energy of youth. But then it wasn't like he had any memories except from when he was just a few months old. His only visitor was his father typically. He didn't have news of other things.

When the first pool turned up nothing the Spectre moved over to the next one to peer into it. He jumped straight into the water but there was no splash or disturbance of any kind. The boy pranced about int he water but didn't feel it. "What about this one?" He asked as he stood next to a flat, smooth, oval shaped rock.

In an entirely different way, Talisa, too, was in love. The great twist of fate that had brought her not one, but two!, cubs left her dizzy but even more than that it combined her two loves together. The joy of having two children to play with and teach, to learn from them as they did from her, was magical. An experience that she'd never thought to imagine because who would ever believe a child to be a spirit but... of course. Children often times didn't make it to their first year though this one didn't seem to mind one bit.

Talisa grinned at the young @Toro, happy to see him engage and seemingly protect her. Even offering to find the best rock and she believed it ten-fold. For who better to find a rock than a child? That is a very good rock. Her attention shifted from the ghostly boy to the white masked one. What do you think? Including him in the decision though completely open to collecting even more rocks if that was what they wanted to do. They could even attempt to skip them, provided that they figured out some way for the ghostly one to play, too.

So far, she'd been given no true sign that the blue didn't realize he wasn't a spectre so she had no way to teach him such. Even then, she was just happy to be here at this exact moment in time. That she'd successfully summoned a spirit in the Grotto as @Pypar and had found a potential friend or two in the process.

Pypar preened proudly when he was told that he had found a good rock. He hadn't been trying to best Toro but just soaking in the small amount of praise that he had been given. In life he had always been so sick and couldn't do much. He hadn't earned much praise in his short few months of life. Then there was the fact that he couldn't remember the last time he had seen Mama. So having an adult female give him adoration bolstered him.

This also had him glancing away, looking towards the entrance to the Grotto, in hopes that Papa might show up too. But sadly, that wasn't the case. The ghost boy didn't let them get him down but looked back to the pair currently with him. "What find now?" Everything had a partner currently so it needed to be a new something, at least in his mind it did.

The strange little boy introduced himself as Pyp. Toro wasn't all bad manners, and he followed up by introducing himself. "I'm Toro," he said in his husky little boy voice, romping after his new frenemy. Pyp found a rock immediately and Toro wrinkled his nose - he had wanted to find the rock. He opened his mouth to come up with some sort of excuse to protest, but suddenly the pretty lioness said she thought it was a very good rock, and Toro's feelings took a 180 on the matter.

Now that that was settled, Pyp asked what they should find now. Toro gazed thoughtfully at the ceiling, then sidelong at his new friend. "Now we have to find a snack." He decided, his tummy growling as he wished he hadn't donated his afternoon snack to...whatever it was his new girlfriend was doing. He trotted up to her, gazing up with adoration sparkling in his sunset eyes. "Can we have snacks?" he asked politely, and then as an afterthought, "Please."

The cleric was just overjoyed to be in the presence of both a spirit and a child; it seemed that while it was a sad notion that a child had been placed here, she supposed this was better than the alternative. At least here, they could be visited whereas the afterlife might prove to be a dark and bleak existence in the beyond. If not for Maua, Talisa would likely be one to live through an existential crisis.

The brown laden boy introduced himself simply as Toro to which the Valour woman instantly put into her book of knowledge. Pyp and Toro. This was a good day, indeed. With @Toro's declaration of wanting to have snacks, Talisa nodded her head. She doubted that @Pypar was hungry because as far as she could tell the spirits here didn't have an appetite. So it was hard for her to come up with something instead that could soothe both boys. Let's find a mouse then, shall we? Talisa wasn't all that hungry so she was more than happy to go on the lookout for a mouse so that they didn't have to leave Pyp in the dust.

So the three did what they could to find yet another mouse, Talisa simply happy to escort the two children around on a small adventure. It was unclear if Toro understood that Pypar was a cub that had passed on or not but what did it matter? If they wanted to play together then she wasn't going to upset the balance by explaining something that could be rather grim. exit talisa.
