The scent of prey drew her from the solace she had sought in the darkest most alone parts of the Mire. She hasn’t veered anywhere close to where blood both their own and that of their enemies had stained earth. No, Ghyslaine strayed far from that and far from those dark thoughts. She was far more interested in the scent of Kudu today- and the prospect of doing something- not food- drew her forward into the undergrowth. Food hadn’t been her friend lately- evident by the dulling of her normally shiny wheaten fur and the way her skin now clung to her frame.

She did not care whether or not she participated in the meal, rather she cared that her pride was well fed and cared for and she would not miss the chance to do her part.

The girl padded through the Mire with the intention of going out to hunt, now that she was a big sister she felt responsible of their feeding even if she wasnt the mother. But this was her own way to show them her love and how happy she was to be part of their family, of her family better said. And as she went through, her blue eyes fell on distant movement followed by noises. Her bobbed tail rose to the point of arching over her back like a deer, eyes narrowed as her ears perked up. Silently on her steps she followed the noise until her gaze fell on a solitary Kudu scratching itself. Well, luck was knocing their doors and quickly she put herself in position to attack.

two years, no trade bonus, pride tier 3. A quiet stroll through the morning Mire was pleasant enough that she did not feel the intense need to climb and hide within the canopy. In fact, the whether was so much cooler than normal that just a casual walk was all that was needed. At least in this instance it became clear quite quickly as to why she had chosen to keep herself grounded. A solo kudu had stumbled upon their neck of the woods and had begun to scratch it's body among the base of one of the many trees surrounding their home. A narrowing of golden eyes as she began to play out a scenario of chasing the prey off with a maniacal laughter. Perhaps frighten it into death if she was to be so lucky but her attention was drawn quickly to the lingering lionessess nearby and knew that that option was likely not the same as theirs. So, Zelda discarded the thought and hunkered down, waiting on them to make the first move.

She's drawn more by the scent of her pride mates than by the prey that they have in their sights. The blue form of the lioness crept up behind the others, tired from tending to her newborns. But as she slid her belly close to the ground, her sapphire gaze fell happily upon @Kinki up front. Her eldest daughter had proved to be a talented huntress and pride blossomed in Sláine's chest.
Tail lifted up behind her as she waited for a signal from @Ghyslaine or Kinki. The slate warrior would gratefully take their instruction today, knowing that exhaustion would prevent her from the clear kind of thinking required to take up the lead.

in the wake of heavy loss he focused on duty, pouring himself in to the demands of leadership as a way to distract himself. keeping busy so that he did not have time to think of her, nor to remember the deadly cold of her body.

hunting is an easy distraction, and he joins the gathered few with only a quick glance around. Alaric does not feel a desire to speak, for he does not trust the words that might come if he does. He is tucked away behind his old, battered mask, sullen and clearly little more than a shell.

He supposes he will yield to the demand of a feast, at least to be the presence his 'title' called for if nothing else. Or, perhaps even to claim the tenderest parts of whatever poor animal it was the pride was hunting - because he was entitled to them now, right?

He is pondering what that might be, the flanks? Whatever muscle was supple and got used the least he supposed. He would have to experiment. Violarum arrives languidly as always, his limp only minor following the outbreak of chaos at their borders. Though his face now wore a permanent reminder of Gunnhildr.

Once the beast was tracked and felled, she would step back, licking her lips to clear them of the blood and then she would step back, and then she turns to make way back to her den. She doesn't have any interest in any part of the prey- willing to leave it for the others. With a soft sigh, she steps back into the brush, heading the shortest way she can back for her den, though the smell lingers in the air- tempting her belly into a gentle rumble. At leas she had done something today- something useful for her pride.

It would seem that luck was ever on their side. Or, he imagined, they were just that good. Alaric was evidently not the only talented hunter in the pride.

It hardly seemed to take any time at all before the Kudu fell, and he was pleased to watch the beast tumble. With blood on his lips he flashed a satisfied grin to @Ghyslaine before he tore off a front leg from the deceased prey. This he would carry to the nearest cache, making a mental note to come back for one of the horns of the creature. Alaric was amassing quite a collection of tusks and horns around his den, pressing them in to the soft mud so that they stood upright. it was an intimidating sight, but he had found he rather liked the look of it.
