There's voices around her. She can hear them, some familiar and some strange. All of them muffled by something she doesn't understand. And she can't see them, either. She must have closed her eyes at some point, but when? And the heat - the heat is unbearable, making her skin itch and drying out her throat as she tries to breathe. Why did she come here? It was a mistake. She isn't made for the desert heat.

She focuses on her closed eyes and wills them to open, succeeding only slightly as she blinks a few times, her vision blurry and her eyes burning. The first thing she sees is a familiar face, one she grew fond of in their short time together. "@Isak?" she questions, the words a mere breath. What is he doing here by the sea?

Something pokes her, and then a pointed question graces her ears, which she immediately pins back. "Not...dead," she coughs out, her throat dry and and her mouth feeling like cotton. "Just stupid." She'd come here woefully unprepared it seems. She otherwise ignores the lioness, @Marja, in favor of those being helpful.

She glances over at the next, a large boy with fluffy fur like her (@Kazimir). He must be feeling the heat, too, but perhaps he had kept himself better hydrated than she had before coming here. "No need to.....carry me," she forces her mouth to form the words, though her throat scratches and she almost starts coughing. "Help me walk?" If she has someone to lean against, maybe she can make it out of here on her own four paws. To some water, preferably.

A female, @Laveau, appears too, asking about cacti. Since Revna is no medic she has no idea what good that would do. What she really wants - needs - is water. And the ocean will not provide her with the nourishment she needs. Perhaps that is the message she was meant to receive here. Maua? she prays silently. Is this a sign from you, or does Vellen want something of me? She didn't know what to believe anymore.

And then @Reynir appears in her vision, his concern touching. "Reynir, you shouldn't be here either." But again, he's probably in less danger than she is. She can't remember the last drink of water she had. How foolish she had been, in front of so many prying eyes.

Eyes she is grateful for, regardless.

The lioness awakens, much to the relief of the smaller Merle female, Laveau breathes a sigh of relief and before she introduces herself, she darts to a green spike, using her teeth to tear it gently out of the ground and brings it to the lioness, a small tilted smile on her face. "It's not a cool drink, but it'll hydrate you until you can get some water." She opened the plant to reveal a clear gelatin like substance, which she gently mashes and mixes on the leaf of the Aloe plant, making it more liquid like.

Of course it wasn't the most appetizing thing to look at, but Laveau was confident in her ability to atleast help a lioness in need. And so she offered her hydration method, a quirky smile on her lips.

it can’t be anything good, @reynir warns and kazimir almost grins. what was good about this place? in recent memory, the two of them have found thesmelves at the whim of the weather more than once; if the bugs, too, were a dire sign then that was simply just par the course. the rurik watches idly as the bugs shift their swarm, fluttering their wings in ways that leave him guessing — he might not have the words, exactly, to tell what it meant, but it was enough that he could agree with the sigrun at his side.

of course, the bugs are all but forgotten in the wake of @revna’s collaspe. more surprising is the fact that she and reynir seem to know each other — he does not catch the sigrun’s cry of mother, but the tone is evidence enough. folded ears twitch, ready to be of assistance however he can — though the female medic, @Laveau, beats him to the aloe plant. he remains where he is then, ready to assist however he could.

he leans a shoulder against revna’s but doesn’t apply pressure just yet — giving her enough time to drink the vera that the medic provided. there was no rush, but his shoulder was next to hers whenever she wanted to go. and he hopes, and quietly prays, that the spirits in his ears will give him the push he needs to assist in the way he wants to.

Is she a little disappointed that the lioness stirs after she prods her? @Revna Absolutely. She shows her displeasure with a grimace as she steps back, and watches the group with an animated sort of interest. When a lioness brings forth something’s she’s never seen before, she studies the green spikes leaf before she steps forward curiously- addressing the female. @Laveau “That?” She asks, her head tilting in a curious manner as she waits and expects the female to answer her and explain herself. After all, why wouldn’t a total stranger appease her demands? She waits, with an almost baited breath- absolutely in the way as she waits to know what’s going on.

Revna watches as the spotted female mixes together a squishy substance from the leaf she has plucked from a nearby spiny plant. Her gaze is wary, not easily trusting, but none of the others seem particularly concerned about it, so she leans forward and pulls some of it into her mouth with her tongue, immediately making a displeased face. She has never liked drinking or eating the concoctions of healers. Now is no different; it tastes terrible.

She leans into the stranger's (@Kazimir) shoulder, grateful for the assistance. Her son seems to know the male, so she feels somewhat safe near him. Her gaze trails to @Isak again, who was the first to rush to her aid, and she smile gently. "Thank you for the assistance, friend," she murmurs softly. "Though I'd hoped we'd meet again under better circumstances." The second female (@Marja) seems more disappointed by her recovery, and Revna pointedly ignores her.

"I think it best I get out of here," she says to those gathered, smiling shyly at them. "Thank you for the help." She begins to trudge along (with Kazimir's help, hopefully, towards the edge of the desert, the plant she drank hopefully giving her the strength to make it to a source of water soon.

The locusts continue to swarm over the ocean, undulating in the breeze, their shapes changing and reforming in the haze of the warmth of the desert. She glances at them one last time before turning her back on the sign. She can puzzle it out later.

Laveau smiles softly, glad the liobess was alright, even more so, she was over the moon that she had made a concoction that would actually help, she honestly should have carried more herbs with her but she was no medic, she just knew plants because some of her rituals required he to have knowledge of them. As the lioness takes her leave, Laveau closes her eyes, her scent heavy as she spoke her native tongue.

"Veye sou yo pandan y ap vwayaje Baron, Papa, ak zansèt yo.." A quick blessing and prayer sent the way of the travelers, she only hoped it takes and no harm or negativity bother them, she gives a soft goodbye as she makes her own leave, crowds of strangers giving her too much thought, not enough capacity to really with through her own anxieties.

he shoulders her weight easily enough, shifting his weight and spreading his toes to better support her. he is quiet as the others speak, gently conversing while @Revna prepares herself for the journey. hopefully it will be a short, and quiet walk, but kazimir knwos better than to count his eggs before they hatch. the spirits in his ears, too, hum softly with the addition of the lioness — wanting to pull closer to her, investigate this new stranger.

he keeps his distance, and his silence, only thinking a quiet prayer in his head. for himself, for this group, and for this whole damned desert.

do not thank me yet, he huffs under his breath, though he shoots her a grin. let it be said that kazimir rurik never shies away from being the hero. still, he looks to @reynir and @Isak, head tilting lightly. follow us, da? he’s pretty sure he can get revna through the desert alright, but he’s just as fluffy as she is. already he can feel the heat worming its way beneath his collar — he’d feel better if he had spotters.

☉ thankfully, the strangers were all too willing to lend a paw. they seemed benign enough -- certainly more good samaritan than evil axe-murderer -- and isak sent a silent thanks to God. the arrival of a healer further calmed his nerves. the mire medic seemed proficient enough, so he stepped back to give her and revna some room. the last thing he wanted was to step on any toes. speaking of -- he gave marja a cursory look of amusement. who was this strange woman? a holy fool, perhaps? "ah, no problem," he responded to revna with a smile of relief, while the ursine stranger easily helped her to her feet by virtue of his sheer bulk. "what do they say? the third time is the charm?" he watched her departure, vague concern knitting his brows -- but he knew her to be capable, and even her fainting spell gave him no cause to reconsider it. no one was invincible, and anyone could be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. he nodded to kazimir, then to reynir (who he noted was revna's son), before taking his own leave. the swarm of locusts above them continued to pulse against the sky, forgotten in the commotion. exit Isak

When no one answers her, or acknowledges her- she huffs with anger before turning away- muttering a curse to Grom under her breath for those present. “ Prinesite buri, chtoby smytʹ ikh” She growls, as she stomps away- hoping that Grom will hear her plea and comply. Marja did not take kindly to being ignored, and thus she cursed them as a group- hoping that maladies would come upon them.

And if Grom brought back the storms that had plagued this land, she wouldn’t be mad about that either. Since the spotted lioness didn’t answer her questions- Marja decides to find her own answers and she angrily rips a piece of the aloe free and stomps off into the sands with it.

No more bugs. No more stupid lions.

Reynir was grateful to those who rushed to his mother's aid, the colossal, the medic, and the... Ecrosia lion who he wanted to call a priest, but he truly wasn't sure. He was grateful for the man's prompt action, as he was grateful for everyone present and their prompt action.

As @Laveau offered his mother some aloe to drink, and @Kazimir offered her a shoulder to lean on, Reynir would simply follow, to ensure that @Revna got out of the desert safely. Once she had something to drink, he could ensure his mother returned home safely. The humming locusts were the farthest from his mind as he worried for his mother.
