- A new mutation has been added: double ears! This mutation has been added into our Tier 2 mutations and will cost 50 petals to add to your character's design. This can not be added to characters that have already been accepted.
- For all ranked characters able to post in the passage: please do not post in threads that was started PRIOR to your character gaining their rank unless the thread is unanswered.
- We have rolled back our newest skin set to get a few edits ironed out and make sure that it is functioning as it should be and includes what we need it to! They will be re-released at a later time when they are completely fleshed out, and we apologize for the back and forth.
- Suggestions in discord will be closed for Oct and Nov while Staff works on the guidebook.
- Usernames in the "Who's Online" and in profiles now have hover text to tell you what user group they are in.
- We are in need of members to help us with the revamp of the guidebook. This is open to all members, regardless of warnings or strikes. No active member is unable to join if they feel they have valuable input. Please see more here.
Following an open call for applications last month, we are very excited to welcome some fresh faces to the Assistant Staff team!
Please join us in welcoming @Zay, @Roamer ★, @CrowValkairi and @Ci to the Assistant Staff Team!
All of our new staff members have begun training, but it still may take them some time to get into the swing of things. We ask that you show patience towards our new Staff members during this time - we promise that it will be well worth it!
All fights judged after this announcement will have a new luck roll system used.
- Luck dice rolls between 15-20 will count as +1 hit.
- We currently are leaving this uncapped. We will be making slow changes over the next few updates to see how things work.
We would like to take a moment to clear up some confusion about trespassing on Pride Territory (posting in a pride's forum).
- If it is not clearly stated within a thread that a character is or is not trespassing, the character cannot be viewed as trespassing over a pride border unless the character posted is from a listed enemy or at war pride.
- This means PVP does not rise for simply posting in a pride's forum.
- If they are from a listed enemy/at war pride, their PVP will rise if posting in the pride's forum, expressed trespassing or not.
- If it is clearly stated the character is not trespassing in a post the character's PVP does not rise unless the character who is posting is from a listed enemy/at war pride.
- If your character is in a fight due to trespassing and wins, any ranked character(s) may still start another fight with your character. The trespassing character will follow the fatigue system for their dice.
- The trespassing character can roll escape dice to try to get away if they wish to avoid being attacked again.
- By trespassing, you accept that your character may be attacked and waive the normal steps that would normally be taken if an attacking member is on red pvp. If a red pvp member does attack a trespassing character, they accept and waive the normal steps that would be taken as well.
In an effort to balance the outlaw trade and the development of Bands the following will be allowed to post in Maua's Passage:
- Band leaders
- Master outlaws in a band regardless of rank in the band
- Up to two types of ranks to recruit (medium ranks and up)
Names may now be freed up from inactive IC accounts!
- If an account is an OOC account a name may not be reused, as we never know if that player may return to the site at some point.
- The existing account will not be deleted but instead, an "I" will be added to the end of the account so that all account information is saved in the event the player should return to the site.
- An inactive account must have been inactive for at least 6 OOC months before the name can be freed up and the member holding the name is no longer active on the site.
- If the member is onsite, a request can be made directly to them.
- Should an inactive account meet all the criteria a request may be made in General Maintenance for the name to be freed.
If you have a preplanned death match using the dice, we ask that you send in confirmation prior to it starting. If you have a preplanned maim(using the dice) that would normally require approval due to PVP or the type of maim it is, we ask that you send in confirmation prior to it starting. This is to allow Sr Staff to be aware of what is happening, check to make sure both parties agree, and if required, offer guidance.
We understand that at times things happen that concern members but not to the point where you feel that you want to open a ticket, it doesn't directly involve them but its making them uncomfortable, or there is something that you want to give a heads up on but opening a ticket may not be the way you want to go. We are offering a google forum that will allow you to report issues, rule-breaking, bullying, etc. This system will require an email but will not require your OOC name unless you want us to reach out. Please understand that if you do not put your OOC name, we will be limited in what we can do depending on what is sent in.
If you wish to use this, please go here. This will be on our strike system page.
Discord is a great extension of our site and a place for all members to come together and enjoy their downtime. We know that there are many different types of personalities on our site and within Discord which can make things hard at times. Due to some recent events and in an effort to help make sure that all members feel comfortable we will be using a few new moderation tools and putting a few new discord rules in place. We also ask that all members to take a look at the discord rules, as we will be stepping up enforcement of all rules.
New Discord Rules
- When asked by a staff member to move or stop topics, refusing to or arguing with the staff member will result in a 24-hour discord mute. A second offense will be a 48-hour mute and a third offense will be a week-long discord ban.
- We are expanding on the "never speak for another player or their characters." While we are understanding that things can get really exciting ICly we want to make sure that members never feel like their characters are being taken out of context. It is ok to ASK about something but the person who plays that character should be the one answering.
- Not everyone will share the same political views as you, some people are attempting to learn about different topics and may ask questions so unless someone is being overly rude, please be respectful of the differences and tolerant of others.
- Talk of anything listed on the trigger warning page without proper trigger warnings will result in a 12-hour discord mute, if it happens again a 24-hour mute, and a third time will result in a one-week discord ban.
- Public arguments that carry on will result in a 24-hour mute.
- Passive aggressive comments often cause hurt feelings and can lead to a negative environment. Please be mindful of what you are saying and how you are saying it. Ask yourself if this adds to the topic being talked about or not.
New Moderation Tools
- We have also set up a "warning" function that is Sr Staff controlled. If the Sr Staff team feels that a member has broken discord rules then a warning will be issued. You will receive a DM from the system. Please open a ticket if you wish to talk to Sr Staff about the warning. After 3 warnings, you will be placed on a one-week discord ban.
- We are also looking into a discord report system.
The Ticket Tool is a valuable tool for the discord server as well as the site. The Bot has released a few new features that we will be setting up so that the use of the tool is a little more user-friendly.
The following will be used:
- Submit a ticket for approvals/confirmation on maims or DMs - Even if a DM or maim is preapproved, please send your confirmation through this manner.
- Submit a "heads up" ticket - Give Sr Staff a heads up or notice of something but don't want or feel the need to have it be anything more you can use this and then close it right after.
- Submit a ticket for an OOC issue between members - If you are having an OOC issue with a member, please reach out to us and let us know. Sr Staff can talk with you and together we can come up with a plan.
- Submit a ticket for an IC issue between members - If you are having an IC issue with a member, please reach out and let us know. Together we can come up with a plan.
- Meditation - If you would like to have a talk with another member and have staff be there to mediate as needed, open this ticket. Please speak with the other person first.
- Warning Review - If you received a warning that you would like to have reviewed, please use this ticket.
- Staff Use - Ticket that is used for staff use
You will also notice a fill-able form will pop up when you open a ticket, please be sure to fill this in to the best of your ability with what you would like Staff to know to best assist with the ticket submitted.
Ice is working on a thread prompt bot to be used in discord! If you have some ideas for thread prompts, please send them to her in a DM. Currently, the bot is set up to output a location, a prompt of some sort, and if you want a word count to strive for. The bot is fairly basic but we hope that once it is rolled out that you all will enjoy it and that it will be a useful tool for everyone.
All of the above items will be placed in the guidebook or discord over the next few days.
— The Staff Team
