She wasn't sure what had drawn her back. There were many reasons to stay away; reasons to forget this place as a whole, and yet...her paws had wandered back seemingly without aim even as the scenery flashed to familiar.

Well... as familiar as it could be.

Amaryllis always had its twists to keep the lions here on their toes and it seemed that was no different even in her time away. She had passed various extremities to even make it this far and even here the winds howled against mountain peaks. Overhead were darkened clouds that spat rain, plastering fur to skin as she trudged on. She was a medic, not a naturalist, but even she could tell something wasn't right. The world didn't just descend into madness overnight, but it certainly felt that way once she crossed that bridge.

mórekr drifts in search — the heels of prey are oft his reason of leaving the north, yet curiosity, too, drives the cat to roam towards the center of amaryllis. he witnesses change in each area he traverses; it strikes a nail in the coffin each time. bizarre, near unnatural, even for he, who believes in no deity and frowns upon those that worship outwardly creation — as if it is worth killing your own kin over.

the peaks he arrives near dusk, and he is careful to avoid the slopes that show signs of obvious disheval. rockslides were apparently the poison — he trusts that they, like the snow, are not quite done. it is a landmine that he visits this place, as it seems to be anywhere in amaryllis as of late.

fortunately, he is in the mood for company — to ingest information that he’s lacked since his (rather dramatic) return. so when he sees bright peach ahead, he narrows her down. ignoring the upturn of stomach at a woman fancying a mane.

“it seems another storm is on its way,” he says in lieu of greeting, and with a neutral smile that does not quite reach green eyes. mórekr looks up to the clouds. “you wouldn’t happen to be familiar with the area?”

Namara had barely been alone with her thoughts when the rumble of another came not from above but behind. Her ears moved before her gaze as she found a large man with a head of curls waltzing her way. Unlike her, he seemed rather unphased by the storm rolling in which only made it that much more strange. How long had the weather been like this? It may have been spring but summer was just around the corner!

"That depends. How much has changed over the past year?" She had seen the destruction of course, but there was no telling what had come of the prides or the lions she once knew. Wolfbron's peaks looked a stranger with the clouds that hung overhead and smoke seemed to raise from the rainforest she had once made her home. She recalled the burned portion of jungle that remained before, but now it seemed the flames wished to lick away what it could not finish before.

“mm, quite a lot, as you can see,” he beckons around them — fire, flooding, earthquakes; all of the elements have clashed together in a giant mess that he is surprised has not uprooted all who lived here. knowing she was around before, however, is important to pocket — perhaps he’d dip his toes in a brief history of the amaryllis that was.

mórekr strides closer, halting a reasonable distance away, as to display manners and not pop her personal bubble. “you’ve just returned then?” a shit time for them all to have. where the rike swore he would’ve thrived under seeing the suffering of the sigrún, it is frustrating to be set back to zero again.

"As expected." The words were barely audible under her breath as she allowed her gaze to flick out to their surroundings once more. He had stopped a fair distance away for her to trust a glance. It may have been a while, but Namara did not forget how bloodthirsty the lions here could be or how entitled they believed they were. Fortunately, he didn't smell like a pride, at least not through the scent of rain.

"Something like that." She still didn't know why she had come back, but she supposed if she was here she may as well see if she could find those she knew before. "I take it you're a first-timer with all the questions? Or were you just looking to be an overly helpful guide?" She wouldn't deny it honestly. This may have been an island, but it was still large. Something told her those she knew who had stayed in the rainforest weren't there anymore with the seemingly rampant fire. Perhaps @Seneca was still at the Oasis.

especially as thus far, he’s failed to connect to others of his kin save uzma — if they lurk around the corner, then they are scattered to the wind. mórekr and his wanderings are a mere delay to the inevitable, however, for eventually, he would face them as he faced aki.

the destruction would come and go.

a first-timer, he laughs, “a first timer, as you called it, but i wouldn’t mind the company looking for shelter, if you don’t.” mórekr gestures to continue the climb. a clash of lightning lights the sky, with the boom of thunder not long after.

He laughed, but she didn't really see anything particularly funny about what she had said. He had also been quick to invite her to shelter, er, well to find some. Gesturing the storm would carry on with the not-so-silent reminder that it would be some time until the cloud parted. Rather or not she wanted to accept, it seemed she would have little option unless she wanted to risk electrocution.

Not that...lions were usually struck by lightning, but there's a first for everything. Namara raised a brow in his direction, but would ultimately close some of the distance he had left as she moved to continue along the path. "You know most ask for a meal first." She was joking of course, "No funny ideas. It isn't safe out here for either of us."

should she reject his invitation, he’d move on — no real loss, save perhaps old information, which he could, in theory go without. fortunately, the weather’s implications drive them both to find somewhere dry and out of the firing range. mórekr gives a nod, and leads the climb.

“unfortunately, food is a bit scarce lately,” mórekr says more somber than perhaps the peach lioness was going for, “and the winds have wreaked the flowers — with this being so last minute, forgive me for not preparing.” a smirk ends it, hopeful that she understands him playing into her joke.

“but don’t worry, i’ll keep my paws to myself.” curly mane bounces with a step.

Namara flicked an ear towards his information. She supposed she shouldn't be surprised given the state of the land, or at least what she had seen so far, but for food to be scarce over migrated seemed...wrong. It was spring, surely the odds were better than winter, but he showed no signs of lying. There was, however, a hint of amusement as he continued. This time the corners of her lip twitched up into a light half grin as the peach medic rolled her eyes.

"And here I was believing you might be a romantic. How unfortunate, you're just like the rest." Of course, she was not actually bothered by his lack of "preparedness". He had made it sound like he was in search of a shelter as well, not that he had been actively living here. Honestly, she would have been more surprised if he had been.

And maybe concerned.

“sorry to disappoint,” he muses — for if her take on romance is creepy guys with such readiness to woo any woman that crosses their path, well, yet another reason why mórekr refuses to understand women.

the rain begins to worsen, though much to his relief, ahead he spots an entrance — overhanging foliage nearly cloud it, if not for the wind that’s picked up and blown it aside. “look,” he says, picking up pace towards it. the boulders that hold it together seem sturdy enough, with no signs of slipping.
