There was little else that felt better than the thrill of a fight, and Halimede was quite the enthusiast. She'd spend just as much time with broken teeth and bloody fists as she would lounging on the beaches of the Oasis, but lately, she had done far more of the latter than the former, and her skills learned from so long ago were beginning to wane. Her time in Amaryllis before hadn't been entirely peaceful, but she had gotten her whallopings handed right back to her time and again, and the urge to hone and sharpen the edge of her knife was long overdue. Thus, she entered the Pit.

Despite the cold, the sky was clear and the sun unyieldingly bright abovehead. It burned into her back, biting back against the briskness of the wintry wind. A call rang out for any potential challengers lurking nearby, hoping there would be other lions like she who sought a good tussle in the afternoon. After all, nothing was better than a good fight, and a good nap to follow.

The young Starke walked through the cold day, a coldness he wasnt too used to as he came from a the desert, hot winds, burning sands and a ruthless sun. And for that being in this colder airs represented a new yet interesting touch. He didnt mind but it was just a new sensation for his sun bleached hairs. Yellow and pumpkin colored eyes travelled through the pit's extension, seeking for something or perhaps someone. He too wished the chance to warm up his muscles and there was no better way to do so than a fight. He needed to keep his skills in top shape, skills that perhaps someday might be used to achieve better heights. But first things first.

Luckily a roar went through, seemingly he wasnt the only one seeking for a nice match. But surprise came in the form a female. Coming from a very traditional pride he hopped for another male. And he felt conflicted with the idea of fighting a lady. Would it even be any fair? But he was already here and well, he could go easy on her. Again being raised in a very old school pride."Greetings lady, I will take the chance for a good fight if you'll have me." He placed himself before her. Putting on his defenses.

Done he was ready. He would had given her the first move but he wanted to do this quick. And like that he rushed forward, bear like head down as he ran. He aimed to approach and then sharply turn to his left(Her right), attempting to put his left fore arm around Hali's upper back with claws extended, simultaneously he aimed to grab her scruff. He wanted to get the upper hand as quick as possible.

If @Jurgen had voiced his thoughts, Halimede might have laughed, and grabbed enough leaves and debris to fashion a sort of mane and parade around as a male to make him comfortable, in her own sort of twisted fashion. As it were, however, the apprehensive brute made peace with her gender, and was agreeable to a spar. Halimede's lips curved into a playful smile at his words, nodding in agreement; she need not speak when her teeth and knuckles could do the talking for her. Thus, when he rushed forward, she lowered herself slightly and spaced her paws out, hoping to maintain her balance in the wake of his far larger build barreling toward her at full speed.

Just before he connected, however, he feigned to her right, and his forepaw outstretched to claw down the right side of her back, along her midline. His teeth bit deep into her scruff, grabbing and holding her in place. Halimede's teeth grit at the pain, and rendered virtually stuck in place without further injury, instead attempted to reach her right paw outward in hopes of hooking around his own grounded right foreleg, hoping to apply enough force to trip him up enough to free herself from his grip.

His initial incursion brought his jaws to the lose skin of the woman's nape, ears pulled within his almost fully grown mane. Being still under two year old there was still some more growth to do in many ways. He took the fleeting chance to breath her scent. An scent he wanted to save for later, perhaps to simply remember the time he had fought a woman for the first time in his life or simply for funsies. Whatever it could be this was for his own amusement.

But this wasn't the time to get distracted over trivial thoughts, as soon he noticed an adventurous paw sneaking behind the grounded leg. This caused his balance start waving. Toes sprees wider into the soil, aiming to keep the traction as he aimed to adjust his attacking limb and bite to keep himself balanced. But for how long? How long could he hold on until he finally crumbled as result of the lady's intrusion?

They were at a stalemate, of sorts, but there was nothing more exciting than being lock-jawed with another lion, vying for the win off brute strength and persistence alone. And Halimede was doggedly stubborn. Thus, instead of trying another tactic, she instead continued in her attempt to dislodge him, baring her paw down more and attempting to dig deeper into the crook of his foreleg. She could see from the corner of her eye that he had already begun to feel the effects of her attack, so she hoped that by reinforcing it, she may be able to get him to topple before she herself grew too weary of his attacks.

@Jurgen's teeth continued to bear down on her nape, causing the pinprick wounds to deepen slightly, through the nature of the spar kept her from being too wounded.

Should this be more serious fight he would had already used more than just nitpicking her skin. He was just keeping it away from serious harm, well mostly because he wouldn't feel well afterwards if he injured a woman too badly, he had patriarchal ideals, but he never treated any female poorly, gentleman and always their protector. Seeing them as a reason for a man to be strong in the first place.

This became a resistance match more than a fight. Who will fall first? He wanted to think he would win, but not all fights were a win. Losses were even more common and he knew it very well. He was banished by his father and knowing he had no chance against him he was wise not to stay and get killed. He was lucky he retained his life.

As he felt his paw being pulled, he did his best to use his back paws help him retrain the losing balance. Jaws still around her neck, as he attempted to stay still. But not overly strong. Just to have a solid grip or that was what he aimed to do but he could kind of see the outcome.

It truly had become a glorified game of tug-o-war, and it was difficult to quite tell yet who was winning. Though @Jurgen's grip on the back of her neck remained relatively loose compared to that of a true opponent in a real battle, she could feel the skin between his teeth beginning to grow sore and her wounds continued to deepen, lending to an undoubtedly very sore aftermath. Regardless of this, Halimede finally abandoned her attempt to try and disrupt Jurgen's stance, and instead sought to raise the limb that was wrapped around his leg, hoping to drag her claws along the way and attempt to leave small scratches up the back of his foreleg. As the battle drew to its conclusion, however, she was suddenly thankful it was just a spar; just enough to get out her desire to tussle without completely wounding and winding her. It left her fresh and prepared for the next days to come.

He finally fell down, marking this fight as done. It was a shame, he couldnt tell how he felt but she bested him, bested him in a fair fight. She had to give her that. She had won his respect and admiration. "You win," He declared as he stood up, shaking his sun bleached mane. Serene eyes walking over her form. She was pretty, a good sized woman, curvy and with colors of heaven. He needed to know her name,as he wanted to remember this day and her pretty face. He was humble, but there was a sense of disappointment. The same Halimede would've felt if she lost herself, she was sure; and she contemplated if offering a paw to help him up would be an appreciated effort, or if it would belittle him further. She did not have to mull it over long, however, as he was quick back to his paws and seemingly content with the outcome of their fight; no doubt, she hadn't escaped from it unscathed, either, and would carry the bruises and cuts she'd earned and complain about them for days to Leander. Surely, he would take care of her in her time of need. That's what husbands were for, weren't they?

Starke. That name was becoming oddly familiar.

The last man she'd fought here was also an ally to the Starke. And given that Halimede was a sucker for flattery, she'd no problem divulging her name to him. Strangely, for being a Starke, @Jurgen was the only one who didn't smell of the Mire. “Halimede,” she responded with a small smile, before angling her head back toward the Oasis. “We can spar sometime again soon, yeah?” If he allowed, before she left, she'd reach forward and bump her shoulder to his as she passed. “Get some more muscle on ya.” Her lips curved into a playful smirk, before she swiftly bounded away, heading home to lick her wounds.
