Another day and Leilani found boredom creeping up on her once more. The growing girl was finding herself venturing out more and more with each passing day, and until her mom found out (highly unlikely that she didn't already know she were sneaking away) and made her stay in place would the cub continue to go off and explore. Today she found herself following rather peculiar prints as she grew near a pond, wondering what type of creature created such an odd shape. They looked nothing like a lion's, and how did they walk with three narrow toes and a weird shape in the middle?

As she inspected them would her instincts kick in, her maw sticking itself into the air and allowing for the scents to be deeply inhaled. The smell around here was definitely odd, a little fishy but also... She couldn't quite pinpoint it but it was a smell that both intrigued her and made her wary. She would allow for her nose to guide her for now, taking cautious steps and watching where she were stepping, still keeping the prints in view. Now if only she could find where it was coming from...

ODE TO FURY
▽ A particular interest in killing big things had started to develop in Finnulf for some time now. Watching the adults in the cove fell creatures gave him a thrill, flooding his young brain with endorphins that urged him to imitate them. On top of that, life was just...it was just so stressful right now. He needed to get away, to toss his mind into something that would consume him in such a way that left no room for troubles. Hunting, he suspected, could also reinvigorate his sense of pride. Using the paths his shifty sister had taught him, he had snuck from the cove in the early morning. Hoping to be back before midday so that no one would miss him. They would think he was just exploring the borders of the shoreline, as he often did. Or that he’d went to the sea to practice drowning. You know, normal things.

He remembered when he was a bit younger, Revna had asked him during a pride hunt to tell her what he smelled. So as his merle form slunk along the edge of the fields where he felt the forest could guard his back – he would put his nose into the air. His lips slackened, puffing his cheeks out, bright pink tongue quivering as he panted. All the nerves in his mouth and nostrils tingled at the sensual delight around him. A musky scent alerted him to the presence of prey animals, probably hooved. Little did he know that horrible pink aliens were just beyond the grass. As his eyes scanned the shrubbery for signs that an animal had passed through, a dark shape rippling among the grass caught his attention. He instinctively lowered himself, his lanky form dipping to the grass. Meanwhile his ears twitched and swiveled, listening for the sound of the stranger’s body moving. Not a cloven animal, no. At least not likely. This was a lion, a cub. His shoulder blades shifted as he moved, keeping her in his sights, something shining in his eyes like a spell. He’d never seen another kid aside from his siblings, not up close. And certainly not a girl. The only girl he knew was Cirilla, and she wasn’t a real girl because she was his sister.

Leilani was hot on the trail of whatever it was she were tracking, pink gaze flicking between following the tracks and looking around her to see where the culprit was at. Her jaws would be slightly agape as she drank in the scents, the scent she were following becoming more and more potent with each step. And then they would appear with a sudden honk, causing for the girl to let out a startled yowl as her body jolted in surprise. Widened eyes would watch the long necked pink birds, halting in her tracks and feeling as though her limbs now weighed a hundred pounds each. What were these things?

They would flock around a pond, many pink bodies flapping their wings and smaller white ones intermingling with the pink ones. Some of them were even balancing on one leg? The cub's skull would tilt to the side as she noticed this, finally feeling enough courage build up in her to take a couple of cautious steps towards them. She continued to scent them out, realizing after getting even closer that they did not smell the best, causing for her nose to wrinkle. Leilani was so enamored by these weird creatures that she did not realize that someone was watching her.
