ooc: he is mostly here to observe, since i'm so #late w posting!

the call had caught his attention, but he is late. by the time he arrives, it is not to a stuffy boring meeting ( like he might've originally imagined ), but rather fights. and quite a few of them. the rurik steps into the clearing with attentive ears, a curling simper pulling at handsome features. well, this was more like it! the issue of the uprising had long since passed and these fights seem more... disciplined. no misplaced sense of vengeance here -- just a good ol' fashioned brawl. perhaps next time he would learn to be more attentive with these calls, hm? curious, and terribly eager, the rurik seats himself on the sidelines -- watching the matches as they go through the movements.

he is pleased with how quickly they jump to attention, and just as pleased to see ronin's ambitions. he was right, they all needed to know how to fight, and so far it seemed that the mire members were not the type to dismiss the opportunity to fight.

no teeth -- an interesting change -- and his gaze shifts from the few fights that had already begun. violarum is quick to target the host, and he cast a quick sly grin to the saphire woman. did she know why the young boy was so quick to temper? was she toying with them all?

an odd jealousy surged in his chest, he ignored it as he watched his wife jump in to the fray, targeting the very woman he had been looking at. ah and erna brought with her the usual viciousness, and he chuckled to himself as he watched them for a moment.

then to the newer members -- alyvia and a male he hardly knew. another new recruit? alaric made a mental note to call them all together soon, wanting to be certain they were all on the same page.

those that have not jumped in to fight, yet, earn a quick look from the king. he is ready if any of them chose to target him, but for the most part is content to watch the chaos unfurl...

Toes of her rear feet spread wide and firmly pushed against the soft mud beneath her as Sláine barely retained her position and attempted to push back. Her breastbone ached under the pressure of Erna's sharp shoulder but it seemed they were locked in a battle of strength, neither one willing to give up.

Frustratingly, her left paw came away with only a few hairs of the dark brown woman's mane so Sláine kept the limb aloft and tried to use her claws to take purchase of the bear woman's right shoulder.
At the same time Erna had managed to sneak hold of the slate woman's wrist, pulling her forelimb free from the mud and unbalancing the gentry so that she fell, her right shoulder colliding with the soft earth just as her two (now air bound) rear limbs struck out fiercely at Erna's legs.

Erna's scent filled her airways and she willingly drank it in, tasting the dark woman's determination and immediately aroused by it.

He's still laying on the mucky soil, rather content to be left out of the sparring when he hears someone approaching him at breakneck speed. At first, he tells himself it's some pride lion, doing pride lion things—but he quickly realizes the noises are growing louder alarmingly fast, until the thundering footsteps fill his entire audition. He whips around, too late, claws already raking his backside. A look of offense crosses his face, and for a moment his anger is so strong it even blocks out the pain. But only for a second. "Woah, hey! Dirty warfare!"

He sounds rather indignant to be smacked on the rear end while he's trying to finagle his way out of this sparring business, but it seems his lousy excuses have fallen on deaf ears. She stands before him, seemingly prepared for his retaliation. "Slapping my ass? Really? If I didn't know any better, I'd think you have the hots for me." A decidedly manical smile decks his face as he tries to retaliate just seconds after he finishes his sentence. Rearing up just a bit, he extends a single paw, claws unsheathed, trying to swipe it across her face or wherever else it can reach. He doesn't pull his punches, either. That'll teach her to slap him.

By now, Sláine and Erna were more wrestling than anything else. Their athletic bodies were grinding against each other and Erna attempted to shove onward, trying to topple the equal in size slate woman. The top of her shoulder bone ached painfully from the collision and continuous strain, but Erna let her adrenaline take the reigns and dull the pain.

Sláine's claws pierced through the flesh covering the bearish Rike's right shoulder, causing a snarl to tear free from Erna. Erna's claws were successful, too, pulling the opponent's paw towards her and successfully managing to push the other into the mud.

Spurred on by her triumph, Erna's front feet attempted to rise from the ground and stomp viciously against the abyss lioness' tender belly, claws unsheathed to add to the damage. Sláine's back feet managed to meet their mark barely upon the Rike's rising front legs, leaving shallow lacerations that stung and oozed red.

Erna was a formidable opponent, even in what was only supposed to be a play match. Adrenaline coursed through Sláine, drawing out her desire more. She could see why Alaric had taken such a distinctive wife. But now was not the time to fawn over a strong lioness, perhaps later.

Sláine's claws gained a small victory but her fall had forced her to relent and draw them back to her chest.
Mud caked her shoulder and right side as she writhed in the dirt, flailing rear legs had gained no true success save a couple of minor scrapes upon the brown woman's forearms so Sláine would be forced to try again.
This time twisting her torso so that her spine pressed into the soft earth, Sláine's foreclaws sought to try and grab Erna's front legs as they (Erna's) came down to tear viciously into the flesh of the clanswoman's stomach. Sláine rocked on her spine and her rear feet pushed out once more, better positioned this time and aiming to deliver a sharp kick to Erna's head.

There is something about the male that didn't automatically make Alyvia hate him. Even though she was slightly irritated with his lack of respect for a training group. His humor falls on deaf ears as she tensed in preparation for an attack. Her limbs were slightly bent and spread so that her mobility would be at its best. He half reared and she watched the limb that swiped out.

Head pulled back only enough that the hit lands more toward the bottom of her jaw. It drags a snarl out from her parted lips. Readied hind limbs shoved forward as she attempts to slam her small body into the chest of the slightly larger brute- teeth attempting to find purchase wherever they may, if at all. She may not want to tear his throat out, but she wanted him to feel it all the next day.

All thoughts of Slaine and the teasing and goading he had done to Violarum drifted away as he focused on the battle at hand. His staggering would cause the jealous prick to jut his shoulder forward again, bumping into him as he feigned injury. A rumbling growl would roll through him as he took the hit, using that momentum to dance sideways even more. The motion would cause his flank and back end to dip down, leg furthest from the beast tripping and dipping low. When Violarum went for his thigh simultaneously he would be met with the meaty flesh of his leg- but not close to the vital ligament. An angry snarl would ripple through him. This was a training exercise, not meant to maim him, fucking asshole. Forelimbs would push off the ground, body curving in a ‘C’ shape so that his forepaws could come out in an attempt to wrap around Violarum’s neck in a cruel bear hug. Head would arch and jut forward as he tried to rebalance himself so that he could attempt to headbutt the asshole in the muzzle. The angle being one so that if he made contact, it would be his forehead that took the brunt of the impact, not the softer sections of his face.

Another buster knuckle bruise

His shoulder connects, sending Ronin staggering; causing the man’s shifted position to prevent Violarum’s second target. Regardless the sensation of his claws connecting with skin is satisfaction enough, and the man would attempt to return his right forepaw back to the earth with a brutal hook of his knuckles, hoping to exaggerate any damage.

The clay man barely has a breath to stabilise his weight and defences, shoulders rolling forward and chin tucking. Ronin throws his arms around his neck into a bear hug, his mane protecting his skin from talons, but the tawny male’s headbutt to his snout being far from anticipated. With Ronin’s eyes so close to his teeth it is with great difficulty Vio swallows instinct, the heat of battle begging for his jaws to search for vital tissue. But he does not, as much as he would enjoy breaking the Noble’s rules. Just for kicks.

Ronin’s forehead claps against the left side of his snout, sending a reverberation of discomfort through his jaw. Resisting the desire to snap his teeth, the Gentry instead attempts to take advantage of another potential weakness. Right forepaw seeks to lift, trying to thump splayed and exposed claws into the tender left armpit of his opponent. Not to whack or slash, but to attempt to dig in, tunnel, plough with niggling knuckles.
