He wasn’t exactly sure where he was going, but being out of the swamp was always nice. The beast had nearly forgotten how interesting it was to just watch others and learn. He’d never been much of a talker, preferring to let others say too much and give him all the secrets. It seemed that the lions in this land were mostly less forthcoming with information, but that wouldn’t stop him. He’d figure out what was important one way or another. Of course, it helped if one didn’t reek of the swamp. He had spent the majority of his morning rubbing against plants, flowers, and dirt to get rid of the stench, but now, that he saw the lake and the sun was high in the sky the dark brown beast would prowl forward and immerse himself in the water.

A sigh would escape his jaws, letting the water go up to his chin before he would take a few drinks and head back to the shore. Moving far enough off that the more flighty species would feel comfortable getting a drink. Plopping down, the gentry would roll in the dirt and trampled grass. There That seemed to do the trick. The musk of the swamp seemed for the moment gone, overpowered by dirt and the smell of wet lion.

Uzma's life is, in a sense, predictable. She gathers information, she works her garden of herbs, and she hunts. Today, it is the lattermost activity that has been consuming her time, and the long neck of a gerenuk is clasped between her jaws as she makes her way north towards Vermeda. She is a provider, and though her ties with the pride are shallow and likely to be short-lived, they will want for nothing so long as she is staying beneath their roof.

Along her path is the watering hole, and given her exertion to capture her prey and the afternoon sun overhead, she decides that pausing to refresh herself is a wise idea. As she approaches the southern bank, Uzma becomes acutely aware of someone lingering off the opposite shore, a muddied mess of dirt and grass clinging to his mane. Her muzzle lifts slightly and the lioness sniffs, eyeing him openly for a moment before finishing her approach to the water's edge — albeit somewhat more slowly than before. She drops her catch possessively between her forepaws and dips her muzzle to the water's surface, a wise ear and a keen eye keeping focus on the potential threat of the man across the water.

Ronin was content to just lay there and watch the different species gather for a drink, prey eyeing him warily, giving him a wide pass by and keeping well clear. It was amusing, if anything, seeing how flighty they were at the mere presence of him, even if he showed no desire to get up and chase them down. He was not a fast beast, but he was strong and that served him well when it came to taking down large prey. He couldn’t give a rats ass about the birds and gazelle they were a mere snack. It was creatures like the Zebra, Wildebeest, and buffalo that needed to worry. His lazy gaze would sharpen slightly at the sight of a lioness dragging her catch to the waters edge, his posture straightened, weight leaning upward and forward on his elbows in a half stand as he observed the woman as she did the same to him.

She would return to her drink, keeping an ear in his direction and he would smirk before flopping back down and rolling onto his back. Clearly not worried about the woman being a threat. While the wriggle back and forth could be seen as cute, perhaps scratching an itch, Ronin was actually rubbing more of the dirt and grass onto his still damp pelt, an extra measure to keep his scent masked for the time being. Once done, he would remain there, laying on his back, regarding the woman upside down.
