It was something, he supposed. Although it wasn't the justice he craved for feeling neglected as a child, at the very least he had made @Manes bleed. A snarl danced along his lips as he pulled away, successful in his quest. "You had everything. A crown, a wife, children who looked up to you. You treated us all like we were expendable, including her," he hissed. Ambrosine was anything but, thank you very much. His hackles raised as he turned from the man. "I wanted you to be my father. I wanted to make you proud. I was never anything but a sniveling brat to you, was I? Fuck you."

And with that, he left.

A scuffle drew her attention. It wasn't unheard of here but Amara was willing to peek in to see what was worth fighting over this time. She arrived to see the end of the fight and to hear the words that were spit at Manes by Xerxes. She frowned as she listened. She knew the male was messed up because of his whole parenting thing but damn, she didn't really have a clue. The black lioness moved to block his departure. She didn't even give Manes a glance he had gotten his ass handed to him by a younger male and while she would love to finally get her claws into him, she focused on @Xerxes. "Come to the Bluffs with me as a Noble." Her golden gaze slid over him as she made the offer clear. While there had always been an unspoken welcome to the pride, she was speaking it now with a rank. Now she knew that Manes was back and that would be handled later.

Xerxes couldn't possibly have foretold @Amara's arrival. Sure, she was a queen perfectly capable of recruiting -- but to show up in such a flourish and to offer a rank as though he had done something worthwhile. The man couldn't help but blink in surprise, rendered temporarily mute by the shock. His mismatched gaze fixed the starlit sovereign in a steely gaze, but really, what could he say to her offer? Denying it would be to deny himself everything he had ever wanted. Accepting it in front of Manes..

Fuck it.

"I accept." Xerxes had a bit of an issue with organized prides, but.. he supposed it had finally placed him in a position where he could protect Cassine.

Any other time she would have picked up on his surprise and pushed him on it but not now, not here. In many ways, she was proving to Manes that once again it was her that was tending to those he was supposed to be tending to. It was her keeping the family together, not him. She gave a stiff nod at his acceptance and without another glance to any of the others gathered there she turned to leave. She had no real idea if he would be able to do anything with the rank but he had drawn blood from Manes and that was enough for her right now. She also knew that he would protect Cassine and that was important to her as well.
