she's entranced by the wild riot of colors present here, and yet developing a headache at the same time. it's beautiful, but somewhat overwhelming; too many shades, too many variations of color. her tetrachromancy makes everything far more beautiful and colorful than it is to most people, and she's thankful for it, but other times it's a little bit of a curse. closing her multicolored eyes for a moment, she stands in the middle of the field and breathes deep. she hasn't found her grandbabies yet, but she hasn't lost hope, either; at the end of the day, she can always return to her longtime home outside of amaryllis and live with her children again if her grandchildren never turn up here. something keeps her rooted, though, and so she remains with a tender thread of hope fluttering in her heart.

That was until his cheek bumped right into something far more solid than flowers and grass or any type of foliage-- it was softer and warmer. His tall frame jolted to a stop as soon as he'd smeared his cheek onto this foreign object and quickly backed up, falling onto his butt and staring rather confused at what he'd just run into. Bright blue eyes ended up looking down after staring forward didnt find anything, simply because after sitting his head was so much higher. A tiny little thing appeared before him. Had he been smelling the flowers as he'd walked or something?
Vasili grinned sheepishly before a maturing voice spoke out with an embarrassed tone. "I'm sorry, I don't know how I didnt see you there."
Something ( rather, someone ) bumps into her side, and she stumbles sideways a bit in surprise, eyes flitting open and turning to stare at @Vasili. Oh, she murmurs, staring at his eyes and finding a slow flush creeping up her neck beneath her plush fur. That's alright, she says quietly, distracted by the many shades of blue in his eyes. Not shades that anyone else would be able to see, but her condition renders his eyes a stunning multicolor that is a relief from the headache-inducing riot in the fields around them. The greys of his pelt offer more muted colors to peer at as well, and his mane draws her gaze too. Overall, his palette is a soothing one, and she's instantly distracted by it. I... I'm Starling Draconia, she says quietly, and then she realizes that he looks... familiar, somehow. Have they met before?
As the young lad sits there he becomes rather dumbfounded at just how small she really was. Not that this was uncommon in his own family; he had plenty of itty relatives. He hadn't been away from home that long had he? Vasili's mind wanders, his peripherals taking in the brilliance of colors surrounding them and finding himself quite enjoying the contrast in that soft brown pelt on the little one. Colors just as soft as the fur he'd felt on his cheek; eyes equally as so. Oh! and they were different colors, too. He grinned again, chuckling softly; his ears pushed back momentarily in his own shyness.
Her words seemed to quiet to his ears somehow. Was that because they were burning from the fact he'd run face-first into her? Vasili continued to sit there, seemingly unaware he was even doing so. His hind legs splayed out straight in front of him awkwardly, much the way a puppy would end up sitting because they werent quite sure how to sit properly yet.
Starling Draconia. What a suitable name. His smile grew less shy and embarrassed and slightly more comfortable as he nodded his head forward in acknowledgement. Eyes softening from their confusion and shock. "Vasili Koulikovsky," he returned softly, voice particularly thick with his family's Russian accent with these particular words. "A pleasure to meet you, little miss Starling."
It isn't until he introduces himself that she realizes he is quite similar to a boy she'd met once long ago, when she was younger than she appears to be now. She smiles, then, because perhaps this boy is related to the other - or that same boy reincarnated. Or perhaps it's just been so long that Starling is misremembering, which is always possible.
She doesn't mention it, because she doesn't want to freak him out, but it does make her wonder. It's nice to meet you too, @Vasili Koulikovsky. She half has the urge to giggle at the way he's sitting, but instead, she settles herself to her haunches and peers up at him with glittering eyes. What brings you out here?
It seemed to him the odds of running into someone else(literally or not) out here were so slim. Glancing around it was nothing but gorgeous flowers and their insect friends and birds scrounging around among the foliage. What a wonderful stroke of luck, honestly. An ear twitched back toward @Starling when she spoke. Her voice was light and sweet; it was soothing. He involuntarily smiled but this time it wasn't awkward or embarrassed. "Just exploring, honestly. I'm new around here." The bright red fluffy tip of his tail flipped up and down rhythmically. It was an odd tick that showed his comfort. Despite the odd position he almost seemed to refuse to get out of, but he was comfortable. "What about you? Hopefully I didn't interrupt anything..."
He admits he's just exploring, and that he's new here, and a lightbulb pings in Starling's head. Would you maybe be looking for a place to call home? She asks it casually, but with her shiny rank in the Lagoon, she's quite capable of recruiting a new member. His question, though, has her smiling softly. I was trying to gather herbs - I'm a medic - but... the colors of all the flowers sort of gave me a headache. Her tetrachromacy is hard to explain to people ( how to explain colors that they cannot see? ) so she tries to keep her wording simple. Better to simplify as much as she can, she's found, although she thinks @Vasili might be the type of person to listen even if her explanation of what she was up to were to be long and convoluted.
She was out here searching for herbs because she was a medic. Somehow, it seemed to suit her. Such a dainty thing, giving off such a sweet vibe. Made sense. Vasili glanced around, taking in the vibrant colors surrounding them. Maybe she had sensitive eyesight. There had been those in the family who got bad headaches from light, maybe this was like that. "Sorry, I'm sure running into you didn't help the headache. Do you have any herbs you can take?" His head tilted as he asked, hopeful maybe she'd already grabbed the cure to her own ailment.
Well, she says, slowly, My pride would be happy to have you. I'm the Baroness of Scilla Lagoon; our King is named Magnus. He rules with his two wives. She smiles, although the dark man makes her want to throttle him on occasion. The whole pride, really. Now that Echo is gone, there is only Starling to tend any wounds, and she's exhausted - especially since nobody seems to want to help, only to take and use.
She wonders if that's why they haven't got any other medics around; maybe she's the only one willing to tolerate the lot of them. Shaking the thought from her head, she blinks up at @Vasili as he asks if she might have the cure for her ailment. Frowning, she peers down at the herb pouch hanging around her neck, and sighs. Unfortunately, I didn't bring anything for that today. Foolish of her, really - she ought to know better.
