It's over.

Her lungs burn and every part of her body aches, her muscles screaming in places she hadn't even realized had muscles, but it's finally over And not just that, but somehow, impossibly, they have achieved victory.

The giant falls.

Maven spends longer than she would care to admit laying spread-eagled across the sand, her chest heaving violently as she sought to catch her breath. The sweat is already drying in her dark fur, leaving her coat feeling unpleasantly stiff and tacky, but hey - she's alive. And now, she has no shortage of food to ease her body's woes.

Though once the feast was over, the young Valentine wouldn't waste any time in departing the desert in favor of cooler lands.

This was indeed as she expected, the hardest, most risky hunt the young lioness had participated in so far. Even with the numbers on the side of the hunters the beast was massive and the sand would shift oddly beneath running paws at times.

It was all she could do to keep up, land strikes against the creature's leg tendons where possible, and try hard not to get kicked, stepped on or yeeted.

Speaking of getting yeeted. Pale pink eyes widened as a golden figure was tossed aside by the great creature. Oh...crap.

Her mouth moved in a silent prayer to Duan, a request for a blessing - that the wounds the stranger likely received were not serious, or at least would not be lasting or lethal.

The behemoth fell and she secured a large portion of flesh, one that would be two meals worth. Yet instead of imidately leaving she paused and watched the fallen figure for a moment.

There was nothing she could do beyond offering her prayer. Chimra was not a healer, and the prey was downed meaning guarding the fallen was not necessary. It seemed the lilac lion might be a healer however as he looked to be offering treatment. That was good.

A few seconds more of silent pause to ensure there was nothing she could do ... and Chimra slipped away, intended to get out of these sands so she could stash her food. Maybe she would return afterwards, to make sure the fallen and the one assisting him had gotten out safely?

Through sheer force of needing experience, Béla stirs after a few moments. Everything is blurry and distant, and his head hurts still. Breathing hurts. Everything hurts actually. Someone is touching him, smearing sticky stuff on the gash on his shoulder, the cut on his head.

"Ouch." He whimpers, not even trying to open his eyes. "Am I gonna die?" It might seem dramatic but the liger has never been injured so badly in his life.

Not that his injuries are life threatening... But he'll probably had a headache tomorrow. And his dad will kill him if he finds out. So maybe he will die.

Ever so carefully he continued to spread that thick substance over the other's injuries. It doesn't take long for him to realize he didn't have enough. Quickly he rushed to grab more, working it within his jaws to repeat the process.

They weren't in the worst place, which helped. Dominic was so focused on his task, he didn't even realize that his nephew was awake, not until he said something about dying. Ears perk, features casting down as he snorts. "No, but try not to be so reckless next time." He mutters, his voice a rough grump. Clearing his throat he continues to perfect the poultice.

Lowering his head, he'd pull his pouch from his side and begin sniffing through it. A leaf that had seemingly been softened by extensive use was unraveled and gently placed on one injury - his head. Another leaf is pulled from his bag, thinner, but longer - it was wrapped carefully around @Béla's upper body to the best of his ability to serve as a bandage. Sighing, he'd step back and study the coverings for a moment before attempting to help the boy up, "C'mon, kid. Let's get you somewhere safe." He'd need to recover after this.

He was quick to avoid being crushed by the falling beast. What a humiliating end that would have been! But he wants nothing from the body. His glory would not come from killing prey, but from wearing a crown once more. So, he pulled away from the area, light on his feet in the sands so similar to the ones from home. It was easy to leave hardly any prints when he knew his way around the ground he walked. But he did not merely leave. First, he rolled in the sand, covering his scent. Ever paranoid, he wondered if any of them were his foes. Then, he slunk away, his sand covered pelt helping him blend into the dunes.

There were more pressing matters to attend to.

Fen had never felt such rage and helplessness in all his life. And that was not to say that he cared about the golden boy, it most certainly was not. But the sheer fact that Bela had thrown himself into danger and this had been the outcome, injury and more attention from those gathered, it had each hair on his body lifting. As others approached, he hissed and swiped but in the end he had no choice but to allow a healer closer. And with it, the shadowed creature slipped back into the darkness, watching as another set about smearing the golden boy with herbs and assisting him. It made the tiger feel impotent and unhappy, so he stalked off instead, black eyes roving around the dunes in typical critical form. He could at least get to know the landscape a bit better whilst he travelled through and away from it, noting various landmarks as he went.
