Whether she had begun to believe it or not, pain was beginning to ebb its way into the circuitry of Talisa's body. Wearing itself down day by day, never truly letting up. There were some moments of clarity when she gazed upon her loved ones and the life that she had built together with Morrigan, but beyond those few moments there was only a bitter darkness. So with a sigh she called whoever was listening to come help her hunt. To gather food for the pride so that they might continue through for a while longer. Winter was just around the corner and many of them were going to need the comforts of warmth and full bellies.

Someone was having a laugh. A hippo? The thing must really really be lost to have stumbled into Summit lands. Unfortunately for it, this meant a prime opportunity for the lions of Illyria to fill their cache before winter. Fearne answers his mother's call and arrives alongside of her with a subtle and gentle nudge to her shoulder. "Fatty meat will be good in the winter." He points out. "Not much for new pelts though." Unless someone wanted to lay on that leathery skin pricked with hairs.

The young lion dips to the side a bit and begins to move into position for a surprise sneak attack on the dangerous beast.

She was honestly becoming used to the massive creatures they hunted up here, though she too wondered how and why a hippo had come this far up. It wasn't like there was water or mud for it to wallow in. Maybe she just didn't understand something about it, and made a mental note to follow its tracks back down the mountain once they had killed it to see if any others had come this way.

Oh, maybe it was old or sick or something and was coming up here to die? It would certainly get its wish then. Was that morbid to think? Oh, she didn't know. She did know that she'd seen that male before that she spotted getting into position, and so she too got ready to start chasing, because she wasn't certain in her abilities yet and didn't want to be the one trying to bring it down.

The good thing about the large animals that kept finding their way to the Summit was that they didn't have to go down for them, didn't have to worry about tracking them who knew where and also didn't have to haul them back up the mountain to put in the caches. It made life so much easier for them. Though they did still have to worry about bringing them down in the first place, of course, but in her years of living in the Summit now she had found that they worked quite well together. So she didn't really worry about it too much if she was being honest. Just that her mother's skills would be needed to help someone after the hunt. Though she supposed if the hippo injured one of them, it would likely be beyond even her mother's abilities to handle. Best just to avoid being injured.

A tired exhale leaves his lips. It's not the easiest keeping up in the rocky terrain with pebbles slip sliding out around him. Or with some flung towards his face from a way ward rapid turn and slide. Lumbering ahead Fearne quickly tries to pull up beside the creature when his pride falls back and he attempts to shove himself into it's side and maybe send it off balance tumbling to the ground or at least it's knees. At least it wasn't a hippo. He had a chance to knock this thing over he thinks with a heavy pant.

Whew, that had been easier than their last few hunts. She was grateful for an easy go of things every once in a while. Getting enough food to keep the whole pride fed was a difficult endeavor without the prey making it even harder. Now, if they just kept coming up to the summit without them having to go down after it, that would be great.

Now that they'd gotten their quarry, she knew she had to stick around and help get it to the cache. At least they didn't really have to worry about the meat spoiling. It would eventually, or perhaps become so frozen it wasn't worth gnawing on it for sustenance anymore, but that took a lot longer than she felt like it would beyond the mountain.

It was so nice to have a simple hunt every once in a while. Not that a zebra couldn't cause plenty of problems and danger, but it was far better than the hippos and elephants and things they had been getting. It also wouldn't provide as much food, but she hoped that wouldn't be a problem. If it was, then they'd just have to go down the mountain for something. It was so much nicer when prey made it up to them, though, as it saved them having to slowly haul it up to the caches. She supposed it wouldn't have been the worst thing to make caches deep in the snow outside the borders, but that required hoping no one found them. At least for now they didn't have to worry about such things.

The zebra, expectedly, was no match for the gathering of predators that had come to make a meal. After all, meal prepping was a serious and full-time job when winter was just around the corner and they were going to need as much as they could get before it started to freeze even more than it already did. The winds would only get wilder and the nip a little more of a crunch — moving in to the prey she did not take a bite this day and only said her gentle prayers to the fallen creature before lifting what she could to take back to the caches. exit talisa

The hunt went off without a serious hitch. They'll have a bit of fresh food to enjoy and more still to stash away within the caches for a later day when they are less lucky with a hunt. Fearne slows to a stop near the food and begins to help prepare is for moving to the cache. Tearing into it and pulling off a manageable piece for him to carry alone to the nearest cache. "Great work everyone." He says with a smile, an excitement and pride both in tune in his voice. One quick bite for the road and then he heads to the nearby cache with the food.
