These brisk jogs of hers are beginning to take her farther and farther as her body grows stronger. She doesn't think she'd ever reached this corner of the tundra before. Surely, she would remember the shine of that crystalline lake? Maven's never seen water so clear. It's almost tempting to take a peek at her reflection in the mirror-like surface.

But that would require her to take notice of the dull gold dots that framed her eyes. Such unique markings, and let they weren't truly hers, for she was not the first to wear them.

So when she noticed the varied group of lions gathering together into a hunting party a little ways up ahead, Maven was happy enough to try lending her aid, slowing her pace until she could slide into a hunting crouch as she approached the others.

She does hope they get a move on soon though. The chill is that much sharper when one is holding still.

Well this was a wrong turn she would come to regret. It was cold up her... she could turn around. She should. But her eyes caught signs of foot prints, something big moving through a snow bank and leaving an obvious trail. Well if you so insist. It smelled like others were taking advantage of this opportunity too and Thisbe began to trail their foot prints, coming up towards the rear of the party only momentarily pausing to cloak herself in the scent of nearby rustic flora to keep herself disguised and hopefully anonymous. She needed food, not undue attention to herself.

She almost did not stray this far north, almost did not care too. It was surely getting colder, than the southern portion of the continent, and for now... well, Eisa really wanted to avoid the snow as long as she could. Yet, as she moved through the tundra, she trotted briskly- and she almost missed the collection of strange scents- and the tangy scent of prey. Well, she did love to hunt, and so she veered towards them, her trot slowing to a easier and more relaxed pace as she headed to the group, to join the outskirts of the party- ready to go.

the pressing cold tickles at her short fur, itches at the back of her throat. she might not be able to smell very well but the cold still burns her nose; she doesn't slow down, though. she presses forward with the heft of self-importance, something stirring deep in her soul to bring her out here. she might have been following her sister but here, with the tundra stretched out before her, it's almost impossible to remember that others exist. instead it seems like she's the only living creature alive. the thought brings her to a stop, freezing in place as the frozen grass crunches beneath her paws. only after a few moments pass does lazare remember to breath, does she remember that there are others here. keeping low and to the shadows, she hunts the hunting party -- hoping the ice and shadows will keep her safe, and secret. And from that secret eprch she waits and watches, her internal monologs turned productive. A chant, inward and silent, to hopefully guide the group to victory -- to meat, to blood, to feast.

miss the moonlight,

she hardly notices the chill as she ventures out, lured once more by the summoning call. another hunt. despite herself, she likes them -- it gives her something to do, it fills her stomach, and more than that she gets to see more of the island. each and every place she goes she gets to see, to learn; piece by piece she will find a way to rebuild what she has lost. her sisters are busy, suffering through their own guilt and grieving their own losses. she is happy to swallow hers down to instead put food on their table, and information to its best use. the tundra might not be a good place to live, full-time, but it seems a peaceful place. muscles rolling beneath thick fur, kassandra settles herself -- ready to join the other ranger's hunt once it's time.

the creeping autumnal cold was enough to chill his bones -- but, here? it was certainly too much. each step seems slower and more sluggish than the last. lucian was hardly a wilting flower but out here in the cold of the tundra, it seemed a close enough thing. he is surprised, however, at the lack of snow; he had expected such a place to be nothing more than a wasteland of ice. here, though, there is still grass -- and the water in the lake flowed. shoulders square beneath his thin, short fur as he trudges on. ever forward, ever curious. he is, at least, rewarded for his stubbornness determination, as it seemed another hunt was taking part. idly he wished they'd picked a warmer place to do it, but.... soon enough, this whole land would be cold. might as well suffer now and get used to it, eh? pale eyes flick across those gathered as he settles in wordlessly, scout senses keenly aware of his surroundings. if there was prey to be found here, they'd find it -- and they'd fill their stomachs with it.

Aimless wandering had brought the girl to the coldest place she'd ever known. Maybe a bit melodramatic but the bitting temperature match with the autumnal air was enough to rattle her delicate bones. Chunks of snow clung desperately between her toes and to the tops of her feet. Lune shook her paws out, dragging the snow around in an effort to muddy her tracks. Not that she was anticipating a midnight stalker, no matter how thrilling the thought. The golden girl was determined to wise up, embrace some solitary time. Enjoy the icy grip of the glacier for however long she could stand it.

Lune's eyes flitted across the blindingly white tundra, keen to see something worth seeing beyond endless chunks of white. A little further off Lune spotted a hunting party gathering. In her preoccupation with the snowy climate, she hadn't noticed the dull drum of hunger thudding away in her taut stomach. Lune slowly walked towards the hunting party, chunks of snowy grass crunching under her paws like little trumpets announcing her presence. Lune didn't mind if they noticed her, she was partial to receiving attention. She did want to get going on hunting. Faint aromas mixed in the cold air called to the hunger beating down on her.

Bears do it, why not him He is no bear, however, and after almost slipping back into a threadbare sleep, the cold nips at him again. Finally, he forces himself to his paws, and there, scarcely noticeable on the frost-covered ground, his eyes catch the suggestion of hoofprints. Simultaneously, a scent comes stealing through the air. Lions. Still fresh, too. As fast as he can urge himself, he starts tracking the trail, ignoring the way his muscles cry out for reprieve. He sprints, overburdened muscles working in perfect tandem as he covers ground with firm and powerful strides. Blood rushes in his ears as he goes, pushing himself to the limit. Overladen lungs expel ragged, sharp breaths as a new day is ushered in.

The sun commences its age-old transit over the cold horizon when Viggo notices the large assembly of lions, slowing to a stop. The air is hung with the smell of carrion, and he slinks forward to follow its source, curiously. It looks like a hunt, and so claws withdraw from their sheaths, sharpening them on a proximate rock in preparation of the hunt.

for the first time in her life she was truly thankful for her extra fur. della had never traveled this far north, and the chill was considerable. it was a barren wasteland from what she could see, and yet another hunt was being called. here? bright gaze swept across her surroundings, as if hoping to see what they saw, but all she found was a bitter wind that made even her shiver.

still, there was a growing crowd, and so there was a watcher among them. it was trickier to stay hidden, here, so she took her time. sometimes it meant waiting until it seemed no others were looking before darting to the next scraggly tree.

della was, now, crouched at the base of the largest one, peeking around to watch the hunt unfold.
