Gone were his days of plentiful meals and Kingly treasures, that year had been a good one - and yet, there is something far more Violarum about being a Rogue. Amidst a lazy chuff for the ocean-medic, the burly male stopped mid stride, thumping his backside down to pick half-heartedly at a tangy mess of dead sea-bird, washed ashore after a failed migration no doubt.

It was high time he had found her again; the one they call @Calypso, mother of the sea. He couldn't help but wonder if her Grit had returned, and if not - if she needed some company to take her mind off looming loneliness. Oddly, Violarum was feeling a little lonely that day, perhaps having become too accustomed to the dog-pile of his eight children. They were growing up, living their own lives.

she thought, often, of grit. memories both good and bad, and always with an overshadowing loom of grief. she missed her rambunctious daughter, immensely, and knew deep down that that pain would never truly fade. even with the birth of her blood-born children there was always that sense of something missing, an empty place that none would be able to fill.
she thinks of him, too. @Violarum had become family to her, in a sense, drawn in to the fold of her arms and cared for. he had become crew, she reflected, as grit would have called him.
and when she hears his call she thinks she is imagining it, but she comes all the same. with tentative hope blooming in her chest that burst in to something far more vivacious when she lays eyes on him. before she can process the thought she is loping forward and barreling in to him, slinging both forelegs around him in the lion version of a hug.

He is quite preoccupied with the tangy chew-toy that was his avian meal, and doesn't realize @Calypso's approach until she is virtually upon him. The multi-toned lioness knocks the air clear out of his lungs; leaving Violarum staggering to support her embrace with an audible hooph!
Regardless, it only takes the male a fleeting moment to recover, and a forearm wraps gleefully around the sea-woman's shoulder; sending the lion off-balance and seeking to drag her down into the sand with a happy purr. "Found you," he says amidst their jostle as though it were some accomplishment - though it was quite clear Calypso held the upper hand.

like the sea touches the soil "i found ye!" she taunts back but she makes no move to remove herself from where she lay, her face half-buried in the thick of his mane. it is only after a lingering moment of soaking up his presence that she shifts and presses her paws against his chest, half-lifting herself just enough to be able to lay eyes on his face. they move rapidly across it, taking in the sight of him, confirming that it is indeed him. "yer back," she comments, "i missed ye, aye?" as if he couldn't figure that out already @Violarum |

Her closeness is like his security blanket, a comforting maternal embrace that fills his breast with warmth and his mind with relief. He purrs with audible pleasure, tucking his chin over @Calypso's nape where she disappeared into his mane, pulling her tight with a roughly laid forearm. Though her taunting claim brings an encouraging growl, a low and playful roll of his voice box as they flop in the sand - happy just to be close.
"I missed you," the clay male responds, reluctantly withdrawing enough to peer at her face where she sat perched upon his chest. His head tilted vaguely to take her in, small ears cupping forward amidst a sandy tangle of hair. "You look older," such a lovely remark to make to a woman, a pair of large paws reaching up to try and squash both her cheeks upwards - smiling proudly should any wrinkles show, "A bit flabbier maybe."

like the sea touches the soil "ye have not learned how to talk to women yet, i see," she muttered, reaching out one forepaw to dole out a solid whack upside his head. "ye never mention age OR weight ye daft scallywag." clearly he was in need of her lessons even now. @Violarum |

forever feels like such a waste -
So content to be her lounge, Violarum soaks up the reunion and the attention like he were a sea-sponge and she his ocean-water. Thriving within the simplicity of their relationship, he is only a little surprised when his age remarks earn him a whack atop the head and a resounding, "Ouch."
Though despite having a wee bit of sense knocked into his noggin, Violarum is so pleased with the whole situation he merely grumbles a happy laugh and endeavors to force his friend into further shenanigans. With his foretoes splayed he tried to give the multi-toned woman a swift knock on the breast, attempting to wriggle inelegantly out from beneath her in one way or another, and lumber to his feet with a jolly snarl and a bee-line for the lapping waves.
He'd rush right into them with no mind payed to consequence if she didn't catch him first.
@Calypso

like the sea touches the soil having clearly ignited the playful side of the lumbering boy he shoves her from her perch and takes off for the sea, and she has half a mind to simply watch him make a fool of himself once he's soaked to the skin. but at the end of the day calypso still claimed that zest for life, and rose to follow with a laugh clinging to her lips. once they reach the shallows she (having made no attempt to stop him) slides to a halt and attempts to send a spray of water his way, sweeping a foreleg through the shallows. game on. @Violarum |

forever feels like such a waste -
Big and lazy as he was, Violarum so frequently and so easily reverted to childish ways and an innocent demand for thrill. Even with the burliest of men he could loosen up his hinges enough to force them into action - whether they got mad about it or embraced it. Calypso he expects to embrace it of course, given they had met under similar circumstances.
Once upon a time, they would spar. Not once had Violarum bested her, no match for her feminine experience and trained concentration. Today however, he is little more than a fluttering imbecile - just the way he liked it. So as his toes hit the waves and his gait becomes hard and full of water-logged effort, he slows enough to turn and seek her - wondering where she'd left him.
Just as he did of course, the white and lilac lioness came skidding through the waves with an agility he couldn't dream of, spraying salty water up his nostrils and clouding his eyes. She even polished him off with a swat! The nerve. With a dramatic sneeze-snort in @Calypso's direction, Violarum would loop in an effort to run straight for her, having every intention of tackling her into the shallow water in a similar way she had done to him earlier.

like the sea touches the soil he turns to retaliate but she (as he has noticed) claims an agility he cannot possibly match. calypso braces as if she will allow him to tackle her and at the last moment (just as he launches) she attempts to doge to the left. it is her hope to send him tumbling in to the shallows alone, under the mirthful gaze of the druid. @Violarum |
