It is late afternoon. Autumnal winds caress the lands. Here, the hunter steps into the half-light; a flush of golden sun, of warmth, breathing against his cold, winter skin. There is hunger in his eyes, ambition in his steps, however monotonous this feels. Everything falls to repetition, now. He falls into this habit, now. Of hunting and scouting and exploring. Harou's wanderlust had been too great, his thirst to explore too demanding. Thus, without another sound, he prowls forward with stealth, moving quietly through the dense foliage. Shadows from the twirling vines and roots dance along his thick coat. His eyes flash with feral eagerness, stalking close to the ground as he seeks out his prey.

Once more she finds herself upon the hunt. This time, she is focused; the heavy weight of impending winter had driven their stores to near-depletion, and the desperate need to refill them quickly stirred the huntress from the mountain down to the valleys below. The slender stalker wove her way through the Grove, her eyes keen on the tracks that lingered underfoot, half-covered in the snow and just barely visible betwixt the gnarled roots. Their scent was stronger. The closer she grew, the more evident their existence became.

Caltáriel had resigned herself to the wildlands for the ease of access, even if it had driven her away from Illyria for days on end. After this, she decided, she would make the journey homeward again; but even she knew that depended upon the success of this hunt, and thus, she continued to drift further and further toward their shared goal.

This place too has not escaped the grasp of the encroaching winter, yet no number of frostbitten leaves could keep Cerberus from recognizing the thicket, with its endless tangle of vines and roots. He weaves his way quietly through the dense greenery with practiced ease, white-tipped paws carrying him through trails both stranger and familiar. As he pushes through, his pelt comes away from the thick leaves smelling like the essence of the forest itself - as is fitting, perhaps. He is inexorably tied to this place, in a way. His blood will always stain the earth.

But today, it is not his blood that shall be spilled. No, the warm scent of prey on the wind suggests that he shall reforge the seal in a different way, though perhaps no less violently. It's simply the cycle of things.

finally he stumbles upon the cool hunter guy in the day. well, edging closer to evening but there’s still a sun in the sky. he’s not exactly the perfect-picture of hunting prowess — he’s sleepy, gangly limbs lagging with exhaustion. he’s been too busy snoozing in the thicket, waking up from a late afternoon nap just in time to join in on this hunt. once again, he could be doing something more than this — he could be helping out his brother to patrol the summit’s borders, he could be helping his mutti now that she was all fat and slow. but, alas, he doesn’t do any of that — instead, he waits to join in this hunt, hoping for a scrap of dinner for his effort.

Being a Rogue now, he certainly got around. Nimble paws stepped lightly upon the forest floor of the thicket. Branches twisted this way and that, streaking across his path like petrified lightning. Poltergeist failed to appreciate the beautiful things of nature. He was materialistic and shallow; he cared not for things that required a little creativity to seem beautiful. He liked his things beautiful right out of the box.

Moonlight spills through the twisting vines above, but Poltergeist's eyes have instead settled upon the beautiful silhouette of a lion standing beneath a natural spotlight (@Harou). His focus is fixed upon something Poltergeist cannot see, but Polt's focus is on him. Allowing the scents of a nearby herb cling to his coat as he brushes against it, Poltergeist hangs back in the shadows, watching this lion with great interest.

the grove. she's avoided it since the day with draven, finding easy reasons to keep her paws away - but @Harou bids the hunters from the country and she can't help the draw. sheol might not be hunting for the same reason he is - any of the others are - but her keen eyes are settled heavily on his back as she approaches. since deciding to learn about the toxic herbs, she's been spending more time among the verdant forest where the herbs are readily found, and so her trail to the hunters is extensive, elaborate on purpose. confusing tracks overlaid to and fro, crossing and shifting so that if the brothers should try to track her, to find where she's been these last few days, they would not be able ( or at least have a hard time ).

her eyes trace harou as she approaches, chewing on the inside of her cheek as she slides her gaze away. her heart kicks into a higher beat ( would he know? would they find out what she was doing? ) and settles her attention, instead, on @poltegeist. he's studying the bjorn with a surprising intensity and sheol lets her gaze drift away, apparently uninterested, as she comes to a halt somewhere on the outskirts of the group. but her attention is firmly on the colorful lion watching the heart of bjorn, albeit from the corner of her gaze.

Celestia had found herself wandering within the grove once more. Her spotted form stalked through the land and she noticed a thicket up ahead. She studied the dense foliage as she got closer, and she snaked her way through the roots. This place definitely was not for the faint of heart, especially if one was claustrophobic.

The woman took a deep breath and proceeded forward, trying to see how stealthy she could be within the dense plant life and dark roots. Suddenly, she noticed the smell of a few different lions. She was a bit surprised that a whole group of lions had gathered. However, maybe there was a certain reason they were all here? She stalked forth, her gaze scanning over the situation.

Harou feels eyes on his back, but he's not unsettled by it. He finds it amusing, and a subtle huff leaves his lips, as he turns around; perhaps, just in time catching @Poltergeist's attention turned upon him. Harou says nothing, even as @Sheol enters, in all her feral and feminine glory. Sheol looks a little tense, yet a silent grin tugs at Harou's features. Soon, their hunt begins, and it ends just as wickedly. It's a medium sized prey this time, and it ends the same way: visceral screams, and splattering blood. Harou, like before, does not eat. He gives Sheol a silent goodbye, before Harou bounds away, off to scout the rest of the lands and chase something else.

well, the bongos don’t really stand a chance.

he almost feels bad, almost. he’d feel worse, of course, if his tummy wasn’t so rumbly. alas, they’re his dinner and you can’t really feel sorry for a sandwich, now can you? he licks his lips once he’d eaten his fill, lupine features stretching over a biiiig yawn. a little dramatic, if not for all the effort expended to catch this midnight snack. with his stomach filled and dinner-plate cleared, virgil is off — waltzing off pointedly not in the direction of the summit. another night will go by with him not practicing his princely duties, as an after-dinner nap calls to him.
