As was usual, the Mire pride was awash with cubs. Many of whom were under her own particular care. But she had been slack in her teaching responsibilities lately, distracted by other, more adult pursuits.
It had taken some doing, but the scot had managed to dig out a smallish round shaped hole in the soft swamp mud, about three foot deep and now a holding cage to a hopping litter of marsh rabbits. Catching the prey alive had mostly fallen on @Caillen's shoulders, being the quicker and more adept hunter out of the two.

It's a morbid game Slaine has in mind, but an entertaining and educational one. The bairns had to start somewhere and Ecrosia was not a home for those weak in the stomach. Though she sincerely doubted many would be able to actually chase down and catch the quick little rabbits.

The queen called out to the younglings of the pride (and the adults too), attempting to draw them forward for her little game. "Now, which o' ye wee ones hae the skill tae try their paw at catching one o' these wee beasties?"

Caillen was happy to help her mother with the fun yet intriguing game ahead. One meant for the youngest of the Mire's family members. Well for her the Pride was family. One of immense proportions. And as such, she was happy to offer her skills to her mother's needs to get this event going. Quick on her paws she was able to catch a few rabbits, one of them on her jaws, kicking of and squeaking to be freed. But in no way the young woman would do so. It was up to the youngsters if these rabbits live or not. She waited while she was place by her mother's side. Waiting for further instructions and the main characters of today's activity. Aeger and on the move as always, Typhoon would never miss out the chance to chase things. Until now all of his victims had been bugs, and even his siblings sometimes. But never he had done so with prey, even less with those that could actually run from him. So today his luck will change, to the better. The young cub rushed to seat down, barely managing to hold onto his instincts, excitement and need to sink his teeth. He was born with a wild and interesting nature. No complex reasons were behind that, he was too young for that. So he simply obeyed what his nature wanted him to do. He looked at the rabbits, waiting for whatever they had in mind. "Me do, me catch it." He demanded, small claws scratching the soil in preparation.

Iona Svend

As Iona fast approached her first birthday, she found that more and more of her time was spent apart from the group. Though her mother was seemingly steep in a life long marriage to Ecrosia, she herself, was not.
It was perhaps that she did not feel completely whole. A large part of her soul felt somewhere else entirely, beyond the walls of this small world she inhabited. She often eyed the far off mountains with envy, wondering what might lay beyond. For a long time she had suffered with night terrors. Vivid, terrible flashes that would frighten her into waking. Though recently the dreams had abated and there was only darkness now when she slept.
The patchwork child approached the set up that her mother and sister had prepared, she'd seen them at work but had not wished to assist. Though the idea of chasing the rabbits does indeed intrigues her.
She comes past a little cub (@Typhoon) and stops to look down at him, her ears slipping back with a roll of her eyes. "Ye are too puny yet."

The small child was growing fast, already considerably bigger, though her full height would not be so impressive once she reached it. Being taller meant it was easier for her to carry more plants and cover more ground with each step taken. Her mother would tell her that she would be the same height as her someday, which was difficult for her to believe before, but the gap between them was steadily shrinking.

Today would be another one spent hunting down medicinal plants, which her mother was gathering with haste now, speaking of the world turning white in the coming months, the plants less plentiful. Bordeaux would help where she could, even if she may well be gathering more weeds than she was herbs. She would test some, but for the most part, there seemed no effect to speak of.

She would only be distracted from her gathering by a summons, which initially she thought to ignore. The high-pitched squeal of a small rabbit would change her mind. Setting down her pile of herbs she would approach, a sickening feeling in her gut. She would stumble upon the source of the sound, feeling immediate empathy for the rabbit. It was small, fluffy, and fragile, reminding Bordeaux of herself.

She would find herself doing something she had never done around strangers before, speaking up. Why you torture that rabbit like that? You evil lioness! She addressed @Caillen with loathing, fur prickled along her spine. Surely she must be hurting it, given how it squealed and struggled in her grasp.

Not mother is summoning them again and internally Vulferam groans, ever the most willing of participants; being the dutiful Prince that he was. As the near yearling lazily approached, it wasn't difficult to put two and two together. Especially given @Bordeaux's furious reaction towards @Caillen. Like the predator he was, his blackened soulless gaze narrows at the bristled girl, attempting to stroll up right behind the rather dainty girl before leaning his hungry mouth toward her. Are you offering to trade places little rabbit? Vulferam muses flatly with a mischievous smirk. He may not have been overly fond of his father's and not mother's vast brood (he hated sharing afterall) but the Prince would hardly let any slight towards @Sláine's efforts slide that easily. She was not mother, and therefore above them all.

Rusalka was lying around bored, she'd not found anything to do today that she hasn't already done, and so when the abyss lioness Simmons the cubs of Ecrosia, she lopes over, eyes on the rabbits, squeaking and making a whole racket, but then another cub joins and throws angry words at the adult. The Rike daughter quirks an eyebrow, and watched as @Vulferam makes a snide content, and he just rubs her the wrong way, she scowled a bit and pushed herself in-between @Bordeaux and the male cub.

"Back off, or you'll be the rabbit" She growls and nips at his side, her orange eyes staring at him, fur bristled, her claws flexed. It was obvious who her parents were, if you knew them, both had large tempers and had no qualms fighting things bigger than them.

The silver child was ever looking for an excuse to be free of the constraints of the den. It was stuffy and boring, and his maturing consciousness demanded stimulation beyond the familiar faces of his siblings and parents. Of course, in the naivety of his early age, he assumed the watchful gaze and protection of said family would accompany him wherever he traveled – so why not go anywhere? There was no caution or obedience in the zealous child as he padded up to the group, his ruby eyes blatantly sliding from unfamiliar face to unfamiliar face as he came up beside his darkest brother. Bordeaux’s exclamation was quick to claim his attention, and he fastened to the older cub with confusion before his eyes slid to what she referred: a trapped cluster of rabbits. Yum! Without thought as to the consequences (because he was two months old and the oldest of four, the consequences of passing up a meal was going hungry), the silver cub would leap forward on clumsy legs, attempting to jump/fall into this little trap so he could secure a piece of the delicious meal for himself.

The maroon beast, much larger than his siblings, stalked into the clearing a little late, his eyes a deep glower that made it clear he intended to be the best at....well, at whatever was going on here today. He'd come when the queen of the Mire had called out, and his tail lashed behind him as anticipation overcame him. The sight of the older cubs that had also gathered did not intimidate him any more than his own father did. There was a wildfire burning in the boy's soul, untameable and dangerous.

He noticed his sister butting in between two larger, older cubs and immediately sneered in her general direction, not about to lower himself to defend the cub who cried out in defense of a rabbit. Let her get pushed around by the larger cub, for all he cared. It was the way things were. Passing by them, he turned his head away, stepping closer to Slaine and the girl holding the rabbit. "I'll get it," he growled, a glimmer in his eye and a smirk on his face. "I'm strong."

He might be strong, but he was still only a month old and clumsy at the best of times. At the worst of times he was tripping over his oversized paws repeatedly, falling down, and generally flailing about. It would take time for the colossal boy to grow into his ungainly body. Perhaps longer than his two siblings, even.

Rusalka sneered at her larger brother, scoffing at his arrogance, she glowered back at him but stayed where she was, "Strong but stupid." She retorted, with a roll of her eyes and a lash of her tail, she stayed beside Bordeaux, she didn't say anything else though as she waited for either something to happen or the Abyss lady to speak.

For a moment she wondered where her other brother was, eyes scanning for the cub who she was more close to, she felt a great disdain for her larger sibling though, at only a month and a half, she wanted to wrong his neck and beat him up, but she was smart, and knew when to pick her battles. Or cry to her mother, whatever got her the win.
