The dark Queen had slipped down from the Summit as unnoticed as she could manage, the discomfort of being so late in her pregnancy leaving her completely unable to sleep. She knew soon she would be forced to endure the bloody act of bringing these children into a bloodied world and though the Greyflood warrior was well-accustomed to pain, there was nothing like the feeling of being brutalized from the inside to make the seasoned veteran dread the moment.

Once again would she envy the easy of Talisa's pregnancies, or at least the grace in which she seemed to endure them. It was a strength Morrigan did not possess, and now she had wandered out into the darkness of the Freeze, not sure if she hoped to prolong the inevitable or make it come sooner to be done with it as she walked alone through the snow. Or at least... with the assumption she was alone. The Greyflood was still painfully ignorant of the presence of her enemies just next door. @Halvar

He had not been deaf to the claim - the founding of a new pride, in the summit of a mountain not unlike where he had been raised and lived before now. It irks him to no end, that others live within the laws and in a way, they are unrestrained. Upon inspection of the fresh borders, however, what Halvar scents drives him to near madness.

Sigrun. Disgusting.

His own encampment is not so far away from the pride itself, so stumbling upon one of its members - with the intention of questioning them - had not been surprising. But the first unfortunate soul he finds is not just any member. It is the strongest scent at its borders, and she is pregnant. Heavily so. He would like to think that they are Sigrun bastards inside her, but really, it matters little if they are not - whatever she bears are his enemies and the enemies of his kin.

And they are a threat he will remove.

Halvar does not announce himself; he attempts to remain hidden against the backdrop of the mountain behind her as he lopes toward her dark behind, attempting to close the distance quickly and quietly. Open jaws attempt to grab the soft flesh of the back of her thigh and his forelimb attempts to wrap around that same ankle, trying to hook and knock her over - to make this quick, and easy.

Foolish. It it the only thought she has time to think as the barest brush of sound across snow causes her to begin to turn her head, uncertain if it was even a sound or just the wind brushing the earth. There was little point in regret now as she felt teeth slip into the soft flesh of her right thigh and it became clear she was being ambushed. Instinctively, she would attempt to kick out with the same leg at the face she had not yet seen with her claws extended while her remaining limbs attempted to plant more firmly on the ivory dusted earth.

It was only when she would begin to turn to her own right to attempt a snap with her jaws at the face that she saw him. Recognized him. Rike. The one Magnus had fought in the Mire when Saga had killed Erna. A hatred was already burning in mismatched eyes for any coward who would attack from behind, but now it was joined by an understanding. This was far more than that, and it had been what the dark warrior waited for. If he thought this was going to be easy, he didn't know her. And this time it was about more than just her own life.

Teeth find flesh, and Halvar attempts to latch on despite the way she struggles. He likes it, the feeling of a victim writhing in his grip. Claws dig into that delicate ankle and attempt to tug, difficult as she kicks out and her own claws slide into his mane and tear into his chest, but Halvar persists all the same.

The woman twists and tries to snap for his face, finding nothing but the air in front of him. They are too far apart, and he is focused entirely on her back end - the least dangerous part of her. Halvar attempts to use his weight and the grip on her leg to knock her over once again, grunting with the effort, snarling with her fur and flesh between his jaws.

She didn't see his claws, distracted as she was by the realization of his identity and as his teeth cut deeper into her thigh she feels his paw wrap and pull and tear as she tries to kick away, staining the ivory fur with the deep ruby of blood as they struggle. Teeth find flesh, and Halvar attempts to latch on despite the way she struggles, successful as she knows her balance will soon fail her. The pain is ignored behind white hot rage and the desperation to keep him away from her stomach, from the children she knew the gods had gifted her to mark her ascension. Sons or daughters who would one day join the very war that tried to destroy them now.

Her claws find enough of a mark to feel the ripping resistance of flesh beneath his mane, but she cannot reach him properly this way. A split second decision must be made and Morrigan chooses to roll on her own to her left side before he can pull her down more violently, giving him what he sought if only to better defend herself, attempting to strike out again with both hind limbs as she fell to her hip, trying to give herself a moment to close the distance between their faces even if she had to fight beneath him but knowing her own flesh tore more deeply the more she struggled. Morrigan would die before she let him succeed. At least then her unborn children would not join the gods alone.

She crumbles, and he laughs. It isn’t a kind sound, it isn’t merciful. It is boasting and cruel and far, far too pleased with himself. Halvar moves with the wrenches as she goes down; this time, both her back legs crack into his chest and throat, ripping into his skin and leaving thick cuts and lacerations. But he is a dog with a bone, now, and no amount of pain will deter him.

She is on her stomach, exposed. A feast.

He lunges forward, attempting to twist around to her side rather than her behind, and lifts his forelimb to try to bring his claws down on her face at the same moment his head dips - open jaws aiming to snap down into her bulging stomach.

"Höllenhund," came her hate filled growl as his wicked pleasure echoed in dark ears, his laugh at his prize being revealed blinding the Greyflood with red, never wishing to destroy something so completely as she wished to tear the shaggy beast into ruins. Her only satisfaction for now is feeling her kicks land, but she needs more than a little torn flesh here.

As he abandons the assault on her back end, she thinks she can predict where he will go, too obvious a target, too ruthless an opponent as it is. She attempts to curl in on herself just as the tips of his fangs begin to brush through the protective but too soft fat of her belly, staining the vast plain red. Morrigan kicks out with her uninjured left hind limb with all her force, aiming at the side of his head and throat nearest while her left from limb swings with claws out toward his face, every intention of ripping as deeply as possible written in her face.

Even as his own claws tore through the black helm and down her lip, splitting it open to reveal a bit more of her snarling fangs. She was beyond pain now, beyond thought, existing on adrenaline and instinct even as the first painful contraction began to ripple down her hardened form.

She can snarl her curses all she likes - he does not believe in the bullshit his enemies spin. Their gods have no power here, and he will show them.

Halvar growls as she twists, squirms, and his teeth break flesh and she tastes so sweet - and her claws feel even sweeter. They rip and shred his skin, trying to budge him, but his prize is right there and he continues to feast. He bleeds with her, on her, as she wreaks havoc on his face and in the thick locks of his mane.

Overconfidence is a killer.

As if batting away a fly, Halvar lifts a paw and tries to brush almost lovingly at her throat - and then tries to press down, aiming to stomp down hard on her airway and choke her into submission.

Their mingled blood, wolf and hound, is hot against the snow he presses her down upon, and she feels the heaving of cold air in her own lungs, knows exhaustion should be tugging at her heels. Instead there is only the determination of survival and vengeance. If he killed her there would be nothing but an endless rest, but she would never touch her wife or husband's faces again, and far worse the children she carried would not live to see the throne she had built for them.

Her kicks, her ripping and tearing and gouging, it does nothing to dissuade the beast, even as the blood flows more freely from his mane now. Even as she rips through his vicious, elated expression. His paw moves to catch her throat, and before she can stop it he is pressing hard on her airway, all she can do to attempt to shove her right claws against the flesh of the crushing limb, just enough to sill breath... for now. His claws slice through flesh there, still, uncomfortably close to life giving veins.

"Martyr me, I dare you," she rasps through strangled cords as he still worked to ravage the flesh of her stomach and reach the precious prize within, a contraction rippling across the exposed belly once more. If the gods willed her to do here, so be it, but they would remember how she left this world. Drawing back with the rest of her strength, Morrigan would kick out her hind legs once more, aiming directly for her opponent's lower jaw with the intention to break it.

The snow around them steamed as both shaggy beasts bled in spinning droplets as they fought. The only submission he would find here would be death.
