Snake's haze lingered for longer than what seemed socially acceptable it seemed as eyes from various lions landed upon her. She swallowed nervously, blinking back to reality as a feminine voice was directed at her. She seemed troubled? Snake tilted her head, only to then give a hesitant nod to the fellow rogue's question. Snake was alright, right? Before she could even think to intently on it, a more familiar form interjected his way between the two lionesses. 

The angel brought her a gift it seemed, as a pound of flesh was dropped right in front of her with a dull and wet slap. Her eyes immediately flicked down to it, the red lump feeling as though it was staring back at her. Snake felt as though there were a lump in her throat for some odd reason. She was told to eat. She laid her paw onto the meat, feeling it shift under her weight. The other male of the group spoke up as she inspected the portion given to her. Names? She glanced back up from her meal, intrigued by such a question. She'd been wanting to ask for quite some time, and perhaps she'd finally know an answer. Naturally Snake was quick to slide her tail through the sparse grass, its length undulating in a rhythmic pattern before it curled neatly around her. 

It was then that her companion spoke for the both of them. Remiel? Somehow, the name suited him. Then, Remiel carried on, speaking on her behalf. Keep her questions simple? Snake felt herself pout at such a statement. She could speak for herself! Just… Not in a way many lions knew unfortunately. She turned her hazel gaze downward. Was it really that difficult to understand? She felt a telltale heat forming behind her eyes. She shook her head and blink away any sort of mist before picking up her portion of their score and turning around. 

She was tempted to take the meat and run, but she instead anchored herself to the ground. She can ask her own questions. She'd prove it. She turned back, setting the piece down once more and took a breath. Her attention focused upon the other team, eyes darting between the two of them before Snake patted her own chest, and then her mouth. She extended her paw pad up and outward before tilting her head. She could do as much.

It is the dark male that dined beside her that broached the matter of introductions, and Demetria remained silent for a moment, content for the gold-pelted lion to speak - both for himself and his partner - first. "Demetria." She offered it in a simple, but not unfriendly, manner; she saw no need to elaborate any further. "And you?" The question would be shot back to @Jaeger, keeping her attention on him for a second or two before taking another bite from her portion. It is while she is chewing that @Faust would clarify on why @Snake was not speaking for herself; seemingly - or so Demetria thought - to the brunette's chagrin. Oh - interesting. The freckled woman would nod in understanding, casting an ever-so-slight smile in Snake's direction, hoping that the girl was not going to get too upset; she certainly hadn't meant to say anything to offend, it was just her occasionally brusque manner. It definitely came off more apparently around strangers, especially with the climate how it was at the moment. The green-eyed female would then proceed to offer some movements with her paws, and Demetria observed with quiet interest. Once she had stopped, the wheat-pelted native would nod again. "I understand - I am sure you do not let something like that hold you back." And then, not feeling comfortable enough in the company to say anything further, she would go back to her meal.

Remiel, Snake, and Demetria. It was quite a collection of names. He couldn't place any of them as sounding familiar though. None of them had the ring of coming from close to his homelands. He supposed it didn't really matter though. After all if he was that worried about his homeland and those from there then he would have stayed and never would have left.

"Jaeger Geist." The scarred male responded after Demetria queried him for his own name. The other's didn't really seem to care. Or maybe just the male because the male explained that his female companion had lost her voice.

"Can you still growl and such?" He asked of the voiceless lioness. It was a curiousity to him to find out that she was unable to communicate as they were. He had never run into such a thing before and had no idea what sort of rules applied for it.

There was a game of charades to be played. "You? Your mouth? You don't like the food?" He made his guesses but the lioness sharing the carcass with him had a completely different interpretation to the game than he got.

Faust could feel a twinge of hurt from @Snake, but was more focuses on eating what he could before his departure.

Maybe it had been a bit cruel to speak for the soundless serpent but his point was being proven in real time as the male, @Jaeger apparently, started poling and prodding at the poor girl. The female, @Demetria, despite her for distant sttitude had at least not acted like a curious cub.

'Can you still growl and such??'

"I know I can." The nephilim look a particularly large bite of his prey, baring his fangs into the meat before swallowing. It wasn't a direct threat, but it was a warning. This isn't a traveling circus act.

Snake's ears fell to the sides of her head. The younger female gave a weak smile and nod to the other quiet lioness' words. She kept her gaze down now, her paw still touching the lump of meat before her rather than grabbing hold to begin eating. Ears flicked towards the male as he stated his name after the other lioness. Jaeger… Demetria… Names she would likely remember more so than they would remember her own. It was ok though. 

And then Jaeger continued on. He asked questions out of curiosity, but they still managed to make her wince inwardly. Remiel was quick to step in and quell that misguided curiosity, but the thorn had been placed. Snake shook her head to answer the mane's question anyway, not wanting to be rude after all. The brown saddled rogue rose to her paws. She dipped her head to each of the trio, then for the first time since the hunt itself, she sunk her teeth into the fresh meat. With a wavering sigh through her nose, the lioness turned on her heels and began to briskly walk away. The heat behind her eyes was returning, and she'd rather save herself from any further embarrassment.

Between a point being proven, a sensitive topic being prodded, and unwarranted sympathy, she felt as she always did. Anxious. It wasn't their fault. Remiel was trying to help, Demetria was trying to understand, and Jaeger was trying to learn. Snake blinked away a tear. Why was she like this?

She would nod in acknowledgement at @Jaeger, pleased to at least now be able to put a name to each face. No longer complete strangers, which always counted for something. However, as she savoured her next bite, Demetria could sense that the meeting could well be starting to turn sour. @Remiel was clearly protective of his companion, and it would appear that Jaeger's curious probing was not being received well. @Snake would rise to leave, hastily taking a bite with her, and while it was tempting to try and offer some sort of condolence for the poor girl Demetria did not want to make her have to linger any further. And so, seeing a good opportunity to wrap this up, the other woman would also slowly rise to her paws. "I best head home. Well met, Remiel, Jaeger." Her attention would linger then ever so slightly longer on the paler-pelted man. "Please give Snake my best." And then, before she could get caught up in anything else, she could tear the rest of her share from her kill and turn on her heel, swiftly heading away from the pair in a bid to seek out some solitude to finish her meal in.

OOC: Hopping over Jaeger to exit since it's been a hot minute

He may not have been as acquainted with Snake to the point of saying he knew her well, but Remiel couldn't find it in himself to be surprised when Jaeger's words had the silent lioness on the run.

Although Demetria used the opportunity to make her own leave, and he simply nodded at her words, he did not immediately go after Snake. Pursuing her at this moment would likely end in further running if that was how strongly she felt, so it was best to let the serpent slither off to some dark hole with her prize. He'd made good on his promise of food to her.

As for the loose lipped male...

Faust made quick work of pulling what flesh was left his his half of the meal, methodically shearing meat from bone before stepping away.

"You may want to work on your table manners, my friend." The words oozed like blood from a wound as he turned and began to make his own leave. "Keep in mind that tongues don't grow back."

It had been a simple question but it had put the other male on guard and the female running off. It wasn't his problem with the lioness wasn't comfortable with her condition. If she felt that badly then perhaps she shouldn't put herself into situations where socialization was expected. Why make a spectacle of yourself if you didn't want the attention?

Whatever. It hurt his feelings none. And her supposed guardian casually threw out words but did nothing to come to her aid. Whatever, words were words. He had his food and he had better company to get back to.

Jaeger took the remnants of what was left and headed away with it.

Jaeger exits
