Rivia didn't forget that Cupid had sentenced her to patrol duty. Despite the bruised ego from law breaking, and her fight all for naught, it was the perfect opportunity to keep herself moving. At first her patrols were slow while her wounds healed, but her muscles craved movement. Sedentary wasn't her style.

@Sabine was doing an admirable job tending to her wounds, she was gaining more freedom of movement and better pain management. Her lungs consumed the winter air as she traced the border of the Rainforest at a brisk trot. Most of her patrols were unfruitful - monotonous, in fact. She numbed her mind at a point and just focused on trotting up and down the treeline.

Often times she would weave around trees in a serpentine pattern to give herself a little variety and utilize more of her muscles. Turning her body to flow with the movements. Her eyes were set on her path ahead to continue calculating the path she wanted to take. Despite the focus on her exercising, her guard wasn't completely lost to her surroundings.

    Sabine ran as if she were being chased. Pushing her muscles to their limit, her limbs extending and contracting, paws thudding the winterized terrain, all for the sake of speed. She had no need to reach @Rivia in a hurry, no pressing matter that took her to the boarders of the Firnen Rainforest, but it felt good to sprint, to feel the wind in her fur and the burn in her muscles. Sabine did slow as she made her way across the fields, the aroma of the nearby pride reaching her across the breeze.

    Reaching the prideland's edge was one thing, she did still need to find Rivia; though, she was sure she was on patrol. With a small piece of bark clutched in her jaws, Sabine trotted lightly alongside the pride boundary, hoping Rivia would come into view through the dense trees.

Visible breath billowed from her parted jaws as she made her backtrack pass along the borders. It had actually been quite some time since she had even seen or heard of anyone coming to the borders to join the rainforest folk. Though, she can't say she was paying much attention to the goings-on of the pride. If she wasn't sequestered in the cozy-pelted confines of her den she could be found anywhere else. She was completely aware of the crew's distaste for living within the trees. But it was much easier, especially in the winter months that ravaged Amaryllis.

As Rivia rounded the path to break through the trees and into the fields, the scent of @Sabine became mixed in the air. Her pace slowed as she figured her direction, maintaining a brisk trot towards her.

She appeared almost as a ghost against the snow, her dark markings and bright fiery eyes setting her apart from the wintertide. Rivia dialed her pace back some more until she came to a halt to wait for her to get closer. This gave Rivia a chance to catch her breath from her workout, nodding towards her to acknowledge her arrival.

    Picking up speed again, she zigzagged through the snow, kicking up powered as she moved. Laughter erupted from her at the thought of someone trying to follow her tracks. She could just picture it now; one of the rainforest pride members reaching their boarder, seeing a trail in the snow, then seeing it dart around chaotically for no rhyme or reason. Perhaps one would think she was hunting, but then again, her tracks were alone amongst the fresh, untouched snow.

    Again, she slowed, almost to a stop, her chest heaving now as she worked to catch her breath, her nostrils flaring. She used to be nervous when drawing so near the rainforest boarder, but she was getting used to it now, having explored it a few times as of late; though, there was only one member of that pride which entertained her attention. With a slow stride, she continued forward, easily catching glimpse of dark @Rivia against the bright snow.

    Sabine closed the distance between them, leaving no time for small talk as she wormed directly to Rivia's wounds. "Hmm," she hummed to herself, studying the healing process of each place she treated before pulling back, giving way to eye contact between the two. "Hey," she finally greeted, "You look good!" Sabine cleared her throat, taking a step back, "Your wounds, I mean. They look good."

Rivia leaned this way and that as Sabine maneuvered around her to look on her great trophies of battle. Her eyes peered down at the smaller woman who finally greeted her after poking around. "Hey," she flicked a lopsided brow upward, "Yeah, thanks. I know a guy." Rivia jested, testing the movement of her shredded shoulder with some minor stretches. "This has been hurting a little more than my chest. I can't really sleep on it much." Rivia explained to her physician, her expression curious if @Sabine would have any advice or treatments she could offer to help with that.

    Sabine nodded, acknowledging Rivia's response. "Good, I am glad I brought this then," she said, basically spitting the now slobbery piece of bark at @Rivia. "It's willow bark, chew it. It should help with the pain," the lynx explained, "It helps with inflammation and aches, so you should feel the difference in a short while."

    Despite the annoyance of traveling with a piece of bark clutched in her jaws, she was glad she remembered to grab it before she left her den."I hope to collect more of it too, so if you need some, let me know," Sabine mentioned, "It's a little hard to come by, but it works wonders, so I would love to have a solid stash of it in my cache."

Of course she would have exactly what Rivia needed for her ailments. She skeptically narrowed her eyes at the piece of bark she spat onto the snow. Her eyes flicked back to hers for a moment before shifting her jaw in pensive consideration about this. "If you say so," she caved, leaning down to take the bark in her mouth and chew it. She was a bit begrudging at first, but eventually gnawed her way through the experience with little resistance. It was the least unsavory thing she has made her eat so far; so she was thankful for that, at least. "You'll be the first to hear of my aches and pains," she said, stretching some of her worked muscles before sitting down. "Is that all you do in the day? Collect plants?" It seemed most of their interactions these days, even if she wasn't actively tending to her wounds, she had plants with her.

    Sabine shifted, allowed her weight to drop back into an ungraceful sit, plopping into the snow. "Eh... Kind of," she answered, "As of late, I guess, yes. I have found myself collecting or at least studying plants for most of the day." She hadn't really thought about it until just now, having @Rivia point it out. "I've found myself... quite fascinated by it all. The ability these plants hold is special and I guess..." she trailed off, a little embarrassed, "I guess I have become rather passionate about it." Healing, collecting herbs, studying plants... something about it felt right. It caused her to feel more at home than ever before. Perhaps she had found her calling, it surely was her mother's, but Sabine thought she was already picking up on knowledge even her mother did not have.

Rivia listened intently, and silently, as Sabine fumbled over her answer to her. She caught her head tilting a hair to the side, picking up on the hurried tone to get through speaking as if it was falling on careless ears. "Everyone needs a calling," the dark woman said, "Your skills are important, especially as you get better." Sabine could teach her anything she could about plants for however long she pleased. It was little to no guarantee that anything would stick, though. There was no passion in it for her. "You can cure and heal things," she observed aloud, "I like to punch people and get punched in return. We make a good team." she smirked with a cocky shrug.

    Sabine had never thought of it that way. "I guess you're right," she said, "And you won't hear me say that to you often." She allowed herself a short laugh, raising a single brow. "So, how's patrols?" Sabine asked. She truly was asking, but her tone was laced with jest, teasing @Rivia for her punishment; though, Sabine did see it as unfair. She won the fight, fair and square, so she couldn't help but feel a bit bitter toward the leaders of her pride for their misjudgment of the situation. She was unfamiliar with the ways of pride life anymore. It had been so long since she had been part of a functional family.
