Ragnar left Inga on her own in the cave while he explored more of the beach. It seemed to go on for ever and yet he knew he’d been down it several times before. Too many times even. When would he get to see something more? The sea glimmered in the morning light and Ragnar walked slowly along the very edge of it, when the waves bounded closer and pools of soft sea water surrounded his paws, Ragnar called out. “Good morning Vellen.” He highly doubted vellen himself would reply, for vellen rarely spoke. Like at all, but it didn’t stop the mischievous lagoon prince from calling out his morning greetings.

He turned out to the sea, it didn’t seem to end either, that was something that fascinated him. Did it just go on for ever and ever? Or was there and end? Beneath its depths what was it that Ragnar couldn’t see?

desdemona may have been busy but ragnar was always busier.

morning was her favorite time of day at the lagoon. the horizon colored the ocean pretty shades of violet and pink and she could almost forgive it for how dangerous it truly was. @Ragnar, however, seemed to have no sense of danger, always keen to find something new and pad away from the safe confines of the den.

however, she decides to give him some pause - she's certain he's heard enough of her by now.

ragnar, what are you doing?
ragnar, please stay close.
ragnar, don't talk to strangers.
we cannot drown our friends, ragnar.

even still, she is terribly fond of him, as she is all eight of their youngest children.

quietly, the calico huntress shuffles to her belly, paws slowly coasting across the soft sands. its a pristine hunter's crouch and she's honed in on him, a mischievous glint in her eye, as if he is a mere gazelle in the fields. her breath is steady as she hears him greet vellen, allowing him a moment of reverence for their god before she aims to pounce, bounding forward to attempt to tackle and pin him beneath dainty white paws.

an innocent little scare never hurt anyone, right?

he'd frightened her into running circles around the lagoon and stygian shore in search of him many times over already.

“GAAAR!” Ragnar screeched as he was pounced. “Mama des!” He yelled out, not yet having turned. “Sometin’ is trying to eat me. Again.” Okay so last time he was pounced on it was a monkey who probably wasn’t trying to eat him considering she was a small thing to be his dinner- BUT! That is very much besides the point. The tiny black furred prince wriggled and eventually managed to get himself flipped on his back, kicking and snapping his little jaws as he did. But once he was tuned and saw his mama- he just stopped. Not moving and inch. His icy eyes stared at her.

“Hey mama des!” He said, quite unnerved- glaring and yet grinning all at once. He playfully hit one of his paws at her face softly, before licking her nose. “You afeared me.” He said, his breath quite shaky. His grammar completely off.

Gee mum! Here he was enjoying a peaceful morning of playing by the sea- and you scare the life out of the boy? Well played.

she almost feels guilty as @Ragnar shouts and perhaps even more so when he cries to her for help. the woman holds down a burst of laughter, her chest rattling with the effort as the melanistic boy scrambles to face her. he's on his back and awfully exposed, kicking and scrabbling sand and desdemona shakes the grit from her nose when the dark furred boy realizes that its her.

when he reaches up to swat gently at her face, followed by a petite little kiss, desdemona leans forward to ruffle her nose against the scruff just between his ears. i scared you? she asks, feigning surprise as she seeks to pluck the boy close to her chest, cradling him on his back. i didn't think you were capable of being scared. he was always into something, whether it was patrolling the borders or discovering something new - the calico was eager to see how his bravery would continue to grow with him. so what if i was some big rogue lion, hm?

She nuzzled the scruff behind his ear, and the lagoon prince stared at her, a shy grin encasing his face. He nuzzled close to her, as obedient as a puppy. “Yeah! Well if you were a big rouge, then you wouldn’t get close enough. You, mama or papa would kill ‘em! So I’d be fine!” He says simply. Then when your all distracting him, I bite his tail!” Ragnar said, a sly grin encasing his face. He snapped his jaws as if to show exactly how he would do so. Simple!”

His Ice blue eyes practically glowed with glee , as if this was the most perfectly simple of plans.

exuberant as always, desdemona can't help but laugh aloud. she's no warrior in the slightest - both nadia and magnus have her beat there, but she's fine to follow along in @Ragnar's tale of grandeur. she finds a deep love in the way that he trusts her to protect him and the others and she stifles a purr. simple! desdemona parrots, deciding that she can free him from the cage of her paws and chest now that she knows he isn't wriggling into trouble. still, you had ought to be careful when out alone. i may not always be around.

the calico looks out to the ocean that's close enough to touch, ears angling in his direction curiously. what were you up to?

Dispite his freedom Ragnar didn’t move yet, quite contempt to stay put. “I am careful. I just like exploring’” He certainly was carefully with Inga, never playing too roughly with his companion. He was careful with his siblings too. He may be a mischievous little thing, but you cannot deny he does love his older siblings. Even his older ones, even if he knows his sisters did something bad and his brothers don’t seem to hang around him that much at all. He did care for them.

“Talkin’ with vellen and explorin’ . Findin pretty things!“ Ragnar hummed softly. As of to show her what he meant he carefully got up and trotted a few meters into the sea, rustling around for something. After a moment he plunged his head under the water, pulling out a blue hued shell. Seemingly happy, he walked back to Desdemona, dropping it by her paws- seemingly happy with himself. His tail swishing from side to side and his little fangs just poking out.

“See!” He said happily.
