Ástríðr. She would state, giving her name out easily. Though there wasn't much to add however as the viking would feel the silence grow between herself and @Calypso. Are you new to Amaryllis? She couldn't remember seeing this woman here before those that weren't native arrived. Lions she was still wary of and unsure of. Granted there were a few that Ástríðr was fine with and would be alright with in the long run but others? There were other's she was highly cautious about. Like Zoticus. Or Arjana. Was Calypso one of those that she would have to be careful around? ”Speech” |

Summer
With the last of the rainfall seeming to have swept across the peninsula, summer days await! The days are warm, though comfortable, and peeter off into more mild evenings while the humidity remains low. It is the perfect inbetween until things transition towards more sweltering temperatures, so best enjoy it while it is here.

"Aye." She wanted to leave it at that, loathing the notion of filling silence with meaningless small talk, but it felt awkward to do so. Calypso cursed her inability to carry on simple conversations at times, and wished they had more familiar ground to discuss... well, anything. "Me crew an' I came looking for me captain's brudder." Calypso gave in to the feeling that she should elaborate, though once it was said again felt... stumped. How the heck did Leviathan do this so easily? Heck, even Brigg had more of a silver tongue than she did. The peach healer found herself floundering and rather than saying the wrong thing she simply said.. nothing. @Ástríðr |

So she was new, which explained why Ástríðr had never seen her before nor the other's that @Calypso spoke of. Though the pirate didn't speak names, by the mention of a crew it could only mean a handful of things. It was interesting as Ástríðr would nod her head, What does he look like, perhaps I can help find him. She was a native after all and could look in places that new comers perhaps wouldn't think to look at. Being a native has its perks. She would chime in, still feeling a bit awkward. ”Speech” |

Calypso realized she had given the wrong impression and gave a quick shake of her head. "Nay, him found him already." Though it meant little to her that the woman was a native (she only assumed she meant that she had been born here) she felt badly about misleading her. "Perhaps ye know him, d'en? Roarke, from de rainforest." Why they were settled in to a rainforest as a crew of pirates was beyond her, though she hoped that they would eventually return to their roots. The sea would always be home and she did not feel comfortable settling anywhere that did not have sand and surf. @Ástríðr |

OH so she misunderstood and now felt her toes wiggling on the tunnel ground before nodding her head. That's good he found him but no, I don't know who he is. Ástríðr barely left the tundra and though the rainforest was not far from the tundra, it was a pride she was unfamiliar with but knew about it. When did you arrive? She was curious. Though it felt like this was all just really awkward. Of course, Ástríðr was awkward to begin with. She wasn't anti-social but she wasn't very social to begin with either so there was that. @Calypso ”Speech” |

It was tedious, this small talk, and Calypso found herself itching to move on. It was nothing against the woman, she just had little interest in idle topics. Perhaps she shouldn't make a habit of following tracks, then.
"Not long ago. Just gettin' used to d'e land." It was vital that she learned all the various plants here if she was to be of any use to the crew she had traveled with.
It occurred to her that perhaps the woman could be of some use in that regard. "I wonder, do ye know if frankincense grows near here?" The plant was one of the most important to her stores and one she was keen to replenish soon.

Okay, so just barely here. But with the way @Calypso was speaking it seemed that their conversation would be coming to an end shortly. Not that it bothered Ástríðr at all, she wasn't much of a socialist to begin with and barely socialized outside of the tundra. So this was still new to her, but the next question was one that she might be able to answer. Sadly no, not in here but there are herbs in the dunes that maybe of some use for you, though I've never heard of the one you're looking for. She would admit. Ástríðr wasn't a healer or even an assassin but she knew both poisons and herbs if needed. ”Speech” |

As disappointing as the answer might be it at least gave her some information. Calypso didn't hold it against the other, she evidently was not a healer and could hardly be blamed for not knowing. Those that did not work with herbs did not often know much about them.
"I'll be sure to make my way d'ere," the dunes would be a good start, and hopefully she would find the plant she was looking for. There was a lull, then, as she found herself unsure of what to talk about. @Ástríðr had said she wanted the company, perhaps there was a reason for that?
"Ye said ye were lost in t'ought, is everyt'ing alright?" It was all she could think to ask, and she hoped that the other wouldn't be offended by her... pushiness.

Ears twisted as @Calypso spoke about making their way towards the Dunes and Ástríðr was alright with that. She also had thought that perhaps the other was going to be leaving soon but that didn't seem to be the case as Calypso began to ask a question. Ears twisting on top of her head and laid flat slightly before pushing forwards, I was thinking about a child I had recently met. She would admit. Asteria was a child that Ástríðr didn't think she'd get attached to. Hell, Ástríðr didn't realize she would even get attached to any child if it was not her own. ”Speech” |

It was not the response she was expecting. Though Calypso could not say what she had been expecting, mention of a child was not it. The words reminded her of a time when her own thoughts had been consumed with a child, and to this day she often wondered what had become of the young one she had rescued.
"Oh?" Calypso did not want to push, but opened up the floor for further elaboration if the other woman felt the need to talk.
