Learning the names and landscapes of all the prides in Amaryllis proves to be a daunting task. Reyna had taken for granted how much knowledge she just knew at her old home, but now that she is somewhere new and on her own, she feels overwhelmed by just how unknown she is. Where she came from, everyone at least heard of the Veleth family but now that she is here she is a stranger.

It is a scary feeling to have when you rely on your connections as Reyna does.

No matter, just time to forge new ones! Strike ahead for the future of her family. It is was her father would have wanted - and what her duty to her family compels her to do. To start, she must get her bearings in this new land so at dawn she picks a direction and just explores. The island is bigger than she gave it credit for and in the distance, a pink smudge of tightly-packed flamingos wade through the shallow pool. Such bizarre, exotic creatures they are. Reyna wonders how they would taste but quickly dismisses the idea of trying with a disgusted sneer to herself. Their limbs were so gangly, they couldn't be good for the palette.

In many ways he was in a similar pickle. He had been gone long enough that his reputation no longer proceeded him for good or ill. He didn't know many that lingered here, or what happened in his absence. It was incredibly frustrating for someone who needed control like he did. He needed to know the when and why and who to make sure nothing happened that he did not wish. So he continues his excursions attempting to locate as much information as possible.

A private smile lingers in his skull as he comes upon the flamingo pond. He did not know where Lilith had ended up, but she was an adult. She was not Nomi whom was too young when he went searching for her siblings. He knew she would do well even if this place was now ever so slightly bitter to the sweet with memories.

As it was the pink birds are back and an equally rosy lioness is nearby. He and her were on opposite sides of the shallow pond, with the birds between them. There was a moment where he simply watched her through the feathers. Stoic, still, and then he exploded forward. Leaping at the birds and sending them flying, as if he were trying to catch one. In reality he was just attempting to send them at her for shits and giggles. Color him surprised when he did actually catch a slower one in time to see her sneer. Gaze narrows as he finishes it off. No bird for you.

Paws begin to move beneath her, ready to move on, when a dark figure catches her eye - a male lion. He stands on the other side of the pond looking at her. There is a comfortable distance between them for now, so Reyna is content to observe him back for a few moments.

It is right when she is about to turn and leave when he lunges forward in a sudden flurry of activity, scattering the flamingos every which way. Some of them fly at her, causing her to duck with a startled (yet somehow dainty) shriek. What the hell was he thinking? A sharp huff heaves from her chest as she pushes herself back to a standing position and shakes off before she trots towards the stranger. Her head is poised haughtily, and her tail lashes with frustration. Why she was tempted to take that dumb bird of his and huck it into the pond.

"You have some nerve!" She lectures him, pink eyes narrowed and unafraid. "You knew I was there, and chased those disgusting ... creatures at me." Truthfully she didn't know what they were called or what his motives were for doing such a thing, but she knows a poorly thought out scheme when she saw one.

Oh it was glorious. She danced and shrieked and there was a good part of him that wanted to burst out laughing. However he held in that amusement, his mask absolute as he watched his planned disaster wreck the havoc he had intended. She straightens and approaches head high. Some nerve has she; he approves. Still nothing is revealed as she begins to confront him, to lecture him. At least not at first.

However amusement slips through drop by drop. First dancing in his gaze. Then tipping the corners of his mouth upward even as he peers at her through narrowed gaze. Did she really not get it? "I do indeed" he rumbles thoughtfully, amusement even leaking into his usually eerily flat tones. That and a touch of smugness, because he wasn't ashamed whatsoever. His brows now rise slightly above his eyes. "That was the idea, love." he states after a pointed silence. So he had chased those flamingos at her. Was she going to do anything other than lecture him futilely about it?

This smug bastard was quite amused with himself. Reyna tilts a brow at him, making it clear that he isn't nearly as clever or amusing as he thinks he is. Her tail sways once more and she peers at him through a slightly softening gaze. Long has she been a victim to the antics of men, and trying to fight such forces was like trying to fight the tide itself.

"Do you attack all the girls you meet with birds, then? Or only the pretty ones?"she asks coyly, trotting past him with a refined and practiced gait down the bank of the pond. If the conversation were simply over after this, Reyna would be fine with that. Men like him would often insist on the pleasure of their company whether given an explicit invite or not, so Reyna figured if @Gwyn wants to join her on her walk he will.

Sure it had been low hanging fruit but simply ignoring it and not plucking it was beyond him. Her raised brows just bounce off of him, the man completely unaffected by her disapproval. As long as he had fun, then he was happy. Still it seemed she knew her role well and after her little hissy fit she softened a touch. Then she behaved in a manner that was decidedly interesting.

Brows rose a touch more, the man amused and impressed. Quite the 360 wasn't it? "mmm" he hums neutrally, watching her move towards him and past. Admiring her because she had practically invited him to oogle. "Depends" he muses, his tone darker now, a little huskier as he pivots to follow. Lets the word be an ambiguous catch all as his larger frame all but cancels out the distance between. She was very much playing his game and the demon was piqued. How far would she go? How far would she allow him to push it? Intriguing was she and he was content to push and pull and see exactly how far this would go. He knew exactly what he wanted, the question was, was she game as well?

Predictably, he follows. Even more predictably, he offers nothing in the way of witty banter to counter her own. While she so clearly has his attention, she may at least see what she could learn from him. After all, the gaps in her knowledge of this land may as well have been gaping canyons. "My name is Reyna Veleth, I'm new here to these lands." She introduces, her tone taking on a formal ring. "Could I ask you some questions about this place?" In her experience, men often had a blunt and uninsightful understanding of politics but even the highest level overview would be helpful for her at this point.

Her eyes trail from him to the still pond water for a moment. The flamingos had begun to amass near the water's edge opposite of them. They make weary sounds, nervous of the lion that had bulldozed them just a minute prior.

Perhaps this was predictable, and while usually that would be anathema to everything he was(he loved to surprise people) this was a game that needed no improvements. It wasn't broken so why should he fix it? Silence follows her as she introduces herself and explains her novelty. How she had questions about this place. For a moment he toyed with raining on her parade and informing her that he was newly returned but ultimately decided to lead her on. "Gwyn Casimir" he rumbles in exchange and raises his brows enough to say "go on" with the gesture alone. He was no djinn or desert demon but in this case, well, he could certainly act as one. Careful what you wished for love.

Pink gaze returns to him as he speaks, meeting his with delicate poise. She was tranquil and proper, yet there is strength in her confidence and step; unafraid of the stranger beside her. "What pride do you belong to @Gwyn? I understand there are eight total here in Amaryllis." There is a question baked into her second statement as well, she understands there are eight - but that is just about where her understanding stops. What did he make of the prides - if he could even name them all.

"More than just prides, what noble families take residence here - if you know any?" It is not just kings (or sovereigns, as they are called here) that hold power. Often enough it is the families with the largest influence that pull the strings. After all - regimes fall all the time. Reyna wants to know who holds power in Amaryllis.

He quite liked her, all told, for she walked the razor's edge of poise and confidence with quite the aplomb. He'd found a worthy opponent and was content to play along. He hums, the sound wavering between this and that. The thing was, he wasn't truly part of a pride yet. That and he didn't know who was in charge of the prides as they were right now. "None, we are still investigating whom we wish to settle with." he offers after a long moment. She was of no threat to him, and thus, he does not mind revealing he is part of a group. The leader, of course for there was no other role that suited, but it was we and not I.

The second question required more thought. "We Casimir once held two thrones, I'll be rectifying that at some point in the near future." he begins, smug for his family has always been great. It would be again. "If the leader of the hollow is the same there is a group of his kin, I believe the leader of the brook is similar in nature when it comes to family." he rumbles, but that was as far as he was going to get here. He simply hadn't be back long enough to know the rest. "I do no know if they still reside and rule at their respective thrones, things change." he finishes with a shrug. A veritable fountain of outdated information was he. @Reyna
