Eventually he released her, straightening up as she admitted she wasn't going to make him join. "Yeah, I know," he said, shifting his weight. "You're a better person than I will ever be." He heaved a sigh. "I'll come, just not.. right now." Xerxes turned to face her. "I promise." He hesitantly leaned forward to kiss her cheek, skin flushing beneath his fur.

Summer
With the last of the rainfall seeming to have swept across the peninsula, summer days await! The days are warm, though comfortable, and peeter off into more mild evenings while the humidity remains low. It is the perfect inbetween until things transition towards more sweltering temperatures, so best enjoy it while it is here.

Things were going well, huh? He was even trying now and it seemed to not be enough. Xerxes kept embracing her, doing what he could in order to.. be enough, he guessed. Bei really was all he had left, and what was he doing to keep her around? Nothing. Nothing, because he assumed she would eventually leave on her own like every other woman in his life.

It was true. She liked to be able to touch him. To let him know that she was here and she was real. Now if it did any good, she really didn't know. They weren't around each other 24/7 like once upon a time. Maybe it would be different then? SHe didn't know but the thought was always there. However, his words caught her off-guard and Bei would shrug at him. "I just choose to look at the good things.. I try not to dwell on the bad things. Like Georgia never came looking for me.. Or I never got to see my siblings grow up..." Now that she was thinking about it her heart hurt more. A nod came from her though, "Okay." And then a kiss and her eyes went wide and she blushed. Thank god her fur was already a redish color.

"Yeah, I.. well, you know me. Nothing is positive." Not a single goddamn thing ever went right for him. Not once. He couldn't even terminate all of the issues with a single leap, somehow managing to fail at that as well. It was wonderful.
She seemed disappointed that Georgia had never come looking for her. "Yeah, well, moms are universally shit. And siblings, for that matter. Family always leaves." Xerxes grew protective of her in that instant, a low growl in his throat. "But we're out own family, we don't need those fuckers. We only need each other."
He bristled.
"I'll go to Vermeda with you."

She couldn't really say much as he had a point. But deep down, Bei was sure there was something positive. Like her! She hadn't left. Not now or ever. Unless told to do so like before. But otherwise, Bei was here and he was stuck with her. Granted, she wasn't expecting him to say what he said about mom's. And she sure as hell wasn't expecting him to growl like he did and then state what he would state. Eyes went wide again. "R-really?" Did he mean now? She wasn't going to convince him to change his mind if he wanted to go now though.
