The months were becoming colder, and he instantly was thankful for his long mane around his neck. Honey eyes pulled the large fish from the golden beach of the Lagoon. He had pulled and pulled it to the storage location, stopping only to rest and reach for large elephant leaves. He had to admit it that the fact of not gaining more of his memories was startling to him. His head hung as he sighed. After placing the large fish wrapped up in the stores for the lagoon lions he would quickly turn around and use a large palm branch that had fallen during the storm weeks ago. Swishing it as he walked backward to hide the footprints he left when coming here. It was one thing for the pride lions to know where they left their food stores but to allow outsiders or even scavenger creatures to know was another. And thus he would start to cover his tracks by dusting the branch back and forth disturbing the beaches earth before him.

- ooc; set a few days after her acceptance in scilla -

"what're you doing?"

she spots him from a few steps away. lifting a brow, Wren approaches @Vasilis. he seems to be covering his tracks, but she didn't peg him to be a hunter. he was more suited for diplomacy and caretaking, if she had to guess. and her guess would turn out right if found out. she sniffs idly, the scent of fish filling the air.

"is that your personal cache?" she jokes with the man "I won't tell anyone" the young woman adds, a playful look crossing her features "if you share a fish with me." ah, blackmail. her favorite game to play casually. of course, she was joking with him. she was just trying to be friendly. she didn't know how this whole socializing thing worked, truthfully.

He was halfway around the small bend, his toes stopping when immediately he scented someone on the warpath to where he was. Vasilis was about to duck himself just in case, but then when her voice was noted he realized it was one of his pride members. Laughing he stands back up still clutching the branch. " No no it's the pride cache storage areas. It's where all the food is kept." he informs her. Shaking his head when she says she won't tell if he gives her a fish. " A fish if YOU can give me a hug?" he would need it after all this pulling and dragging the branch and fish all over the place. He wished Tambua was still around to use his sharp feet to give him a quick back massage on his tired muscles but alas the bird had been missing as of late. @Wren was just shy of where he was and he would grab the branch and quickly go back to hiding his steps before coming to a small log that was washed up on the beach. He would pick the branch up and toss it into the air far from where he was and quickly turned, keeping his toes in the same holes in the sand and then leaping to the washed up log.

pride cache, got it. she'd remember where it was. but his next words caught her off guard. she balked at the man, visibly taken back by his request. you want a hug she repeats with a scowl - torn between audacity and amusement can I ask why? because she barely knew him, and he barely knew her. oh fuck, was he just one of those overly affectionate men? she'd have to get used to this, wouldn't she?

Wren wasn't used to touching other people. maybe I'll fish up my own fish she adds cheekily, unable to resist teasing him then you get no hug she sighs dramatically but I'm not cruel - I'll give you a fish too maybe it could hug him in return. the woman tilts her head at him, frowning seriously, who asks for a hug of all things? Diuris Yeager apparently. yep. he was an odd duck.

He laughed at her returning expression, it was as if he spoke to her in one of his native tongues. Snickering he chortled a soft sound before looking back at @Wren " no one ever told you that Hugs make the world better? That they lift any remaining tiredness from your bones?" he shrugged. "My mother when I was a child would tell me if I had a bad day that a hug could make it go away. Of it I was moody or not feeling good hugs always made it better." he then points to the cache area and the thrown branch " After all that lugging my back is killing me."

When she talks about getting a fish for herself and possibly sharing it with him. He laughed again. "You are not obligated to give me a fish YOU catch silly. I was teasing you. I am not expecting you to hug me." he rolled himself onto the washed-up log, then leaping off of it and into the nearby waves off the beach. This would keep his tracks from being found for sure now.

ha ha, you got me. she rolls her eyes at his antics, amused and not. though it was more amused than anything else negative. she didn't like to be teased but appreciated he felt comfortable enough to humor her. @Vasilis was a weird guy. he wasn't teasing her anyway. just having a little fun. she could accept that. not much phased her, even if she was terribly moody at times.

you're weird she says to him bluntly but not unkindly. Wren moves forward, slipping easily into the water. like a fish, her coat is oily and feathery enough so water slides off her. churning in the cold water, she places a paw on the log he had done such effort to retrieve we're allies now, yeah? sharing food is common, isn't it? or was that a custom only reserved for like, friends?

Amaryllis was too foreign for her.

He sloshes through the water, the salt mingling on his cologned body. The golden man would turn to her shaking his head, mane dripping wet from the sea. "Yea? I can be weirder, A lot weirder @Wren." he joked. He steps through the ringlets of the waves that came crashing between himself and the beach, he wanders a few paces ahead when he hears her landing on the washed-up log. Then her own sloshing of the water to her body, he turns to watch her over his shoulder blade.

" I mean I had no idea it made one allies to share food. I would simply say acquaintances or well, friends." he hugged one shoulder to his neck and drooped it back down. " Since we are pride mates wouldn't you think we were already higher up than allies? " he looked at her with a half-smile half questionable look.

I've no doubt you can be weirder she adds with a roll of her light eyes adults are all weird. myself included. they had their own dramas, their own losses, their own histories and boring shit to justify their actions. yeah, adult life was weird. yearling life was tragic. and cub life? well, that should be blissful ignorance. maybe she was the weird one, having never been in a community. having no friends or allies to call her own...

I don't trust a lion who lives by water who doesn't swim Wren shoots back, paddling through the waves if you can swim, we're friends she goes even deeper out, letting her paw pads barely touch the sandy ground. she ignores the chilling cold in favor of the refreshment see? I'm weird too. swimming is a number one must on my list of friendship.

" Oh you can bet all you want." he states. His mind wandering a moment before looking back at her as she moves into the depth of the water, speaking of swimming and how she couldn't be friends with someone who didn't know how to swim. He laughs and quickly, and without hesitation, joins her in the water. " You are in luck then, Because I love swimming" he put the emphasis on love before coming to where she was.

He swims around in a small circle " Swimming is not weird. What would be weird is if you were swimming while riding the back of a hippo. Now THAT is weird." he laughed, the water creating ripples as he chuckled. He paddles his way back around to her. " Are you enjoying the Lagoon so far@Wren ?" he asked curiously.

you think I wouldn't do that? she shoots back at the man, smirking show me a hippo. any hippo. I'll make it my mount into battle. felines didn't typically like water, so she was a bit surprised when Diuris joined her in it. he seemed at peace here, in his natural element. Wren couldn't help but think about riding a hippopotamus into battle now. the fear on her foes' eyes would be priceless.

hm? she says with a tilt of her head at his question I've met... a grand total of you so far Wren says honestly a few have said 'hello' and 'nice to see you' though in passing. I've joined a few hunts too she shrugs, placing a wet cheek against her shoulder they're friendly. the land is great. the cache is full of food. what more could I ask for?
