Walking the edge of the water the large bird spread his wings and shook. Giving a shimmy he danced before his beloved as well as before all around. Spinning and bobbing his head he scratched at the ground stomping his feet as he shook his tail feathers. He was putting on a show not just for all there, but for the night Maua as a thank you for guiding them home just in time for a reunion before calling his grandfather to rest in the afterlife. ”Praise the all Might Maua!” He song as he spun and danced.

Summer
With the last of the rainfall seeming to have swept across the peninsula, summer days await! The days are warm, though comfortable, and peeter off into more mild evenings while the humidity remains low. It is the perfect inbetween until things transition towards more sweltering temperatures, so best enjoy it while it is here.

The bird had been back in Amaryllis for just long to meet up with his dying grandfather. The old Ostrich held on just long enough to see the return of the younger generation of Swiftfoot arrive back in the land. Wives, children, new friends of all times having came with them. Where most of them where wasn’t known to the real and purple eyed man. They had wandered off to explore, but for the time being Ekon stood at the watering hole his beloved mate near by watching him from some shade.
Walking the edge of the water the large bird spread his wings and shook. Giving a shimmy he danced before his beloved as well as before all around. Spinning and bobbing his head he scratched at the ground stomping his feet as he shook his tail feathers. No Man Shall Live Beyond His Fated Death-Day
Vadik had journeyed to the watering hole for a simple drink, but as he approached... it was clear he was in for much more. A small gathering of Ostrich sat along the shore, a male strutting his stuff before a female. Vadik smirked to himself and made his way down, coming up behind the female and plopping himself next to her on his belly in the shade.
He had thought initially that the male was trying to impress the female watching from the shade... although, it was becoming more and more apparent that this was a spiritual display. How fascinating! As the male cried out in worship to some strange god or goddess, Vadik gave a mighty roar to encourage him! What gods inspired such a show?! They demanded the best of entertainment, he would give them that. He smiled widely, taking much enjoyment from this spectacle.
"Your Maua would be proud of such a show, bird. Tell me, who is it you call out to in such devotion?"
Vadik tried to get the question in, following the ostrich with an intense icy gaze as the he continued his dance. He didn't care if he was interrupting... if the male could not speak, perhaps his female companion might enlighten the lion on their doorstep.

Spinning and throwing his wings higher as he shakes his tail Ekon knew others were watching. Heck some even joined in which made the watering hole rather loud at the moment. Even more so when the lion joined in with a roar. ”Maua bless you friend lion!” He called out with a dip of his head allowing his actions and words to flow as one. Ekon was well versed in talking while he danced. Though he found it easier to sing his stories while he danced. So at the lion’s question a smile spread across his beak.
”Come one, come all, come listen to this talllle...” He song no longer spinning but instead he faced the shaded area where the lion was who had asked. Stepping forward he and back he still danced while singing. ”It is a story, it the story of the mighty. A story of the great Maua! Maua, Maua the great almighty! The creature of our world!” He might have sounded like he was just repeating himself in his song but he was allowing time for more to join and get comfortable.
Giving everyone a few more moments to settle his voice turned from being less of a song to that of a story teller and as he spoke the wild and loud sounds of the watering hole quieted down. ”They say long ago when there was nothing but darkness and dreaded loneliness a long being lived. A solo life, a sad life. This being was Maua.” He explained his face becoming sad and his voice full of sorrow. Looking at the ground for a moment before looking back at the group he looked right at the lion. ”It is said that Maua in their desire to no longer be alone created the land, the air, the trees and all that you see! They worked and toiled so much so that they fell asleep as soon as their creation was made only to wake to find their work was for not!”
Shaking his head his exception became disappointed. Letting out a sigh he took a breath. ”The great Maua had created the world yes, but they where still lonely.” His words were becoming more excited as the story went on even as he changed his tone to match Maua’s in the apart of the story he was in. Stopping for a moment to look around and make sure everyone was keeping up.

No Man Shall Live Beyond His Fated Death-Day
The young Norseman smiled coyly at the bird as he was blessed. Of course, this didn't mean anything to the foreigner... though, he accepted it as a gesture of good fortune nonetheless. Brimming with curiosity, he sat through the bird's introduction and beginning narrative. Slightly repetitive... but what did one expect from Ostriches? They were dramatic creatures.
Finally they were hoisted into the story, and the bird quickly became animated. The tone of voice and the movements of his body and feathers helped the flow of the story and made it quite immersive! Vadik was hanging on every word, intrigued by this wonderous myth of creation... and how different it was to the way the world was truly made!
The bird paused then, and Vadik craned his neck with ears perked forward.
"Well? What did they do to fix such a problem? Eh?"
The lion called out with eager interest. It mattered not if everyone else was keeping up. Vadik wanted to know more and more and more still! He was hungry for the knowledge, hungry to understand this deity of the southern world!

The bird was happy to share the story of Maua with those at the watering hole. Some knew it already, but listened happily anyways. Then there was others like the lion who asked questions at what happened. This drew a soft chuckle from Ekon’s throat.
”They slept. They fall into a long slumber friend lion. For you see Maua had used up so much of their energy creating the world so for a long while they rested until they woke up to their beautiful lands, but were still lonely” His voice was calm as he spoke about the deity sleeping. Then became excited when saying they woke up. ”So they decided to make life themselves. Using their own self to they created the first lion! But they could only create babies. Youth that slowly died and Maua could sit there and watch them died of loneliness.” He explained looking at @Vadik curiously. Giving a smile he looked into the lion’s eyes and smiled before looking away.
”So our almighty set off to change that. They used their magic to search other world and that is where they saw life. Life! It felled their heart with joy to see life in these other worlds.” He became very excited again and danced in place again. Spinning and shaking his tail feathers.
”BUT! The worlds they saw where cursed. Filled with ill ideas and hurting. Some even by the very life that lived there.” His voice was growing dark and eerily as he spoke of the broken worlds that Maua found. Slowing his dance Ekon lifted his wings and hide his face as if he was scared when talking of these worlds as well.
”That was when Maua knew they had to do something and so they used their magic to to try to fix the world.” Taking a breath he looked around at all the faces. It wasn’t the full story, but he wanted to see if anyone wants to speak up. Maybe someone wanted to help tell the story. He enjoyed hearing the young tell parts of it. He also scanned the faces of everyone around to see if they where still understanding.

No Man Shall Live Beyond His Fated Death-Day
Vadik was intrigued with the bird's words as it told him the God slept to solve it's problem. What kind of God does nothing? But that was apparently not the whole story. The Norseman stayed quiet as the bird continued, listening as he revealed the way this Maua created the first of his own kind. A lion... cubs. Only children... and then let them slowly die! He did not like this part of the story, and when the bird looked at him with curiosity, Vadik's expression must have been one of repulsion. Still, he stayed quiet as the bird turned away and continued.
This Maua began to sound quite a lot like Heimdall, searching all the worlds of Yggdrasil. At least this part he could understand! At least a bit. Still, this deity must have only gone to those places that were teeming with giants.
"Which world did he try to fix? Had he found the giants of Jotunheim? Or perhaps he found the suffering in Helheim?"
Vadik felt like a cub in the nursery asking these questions, though he hated these pauses! He was on the edge of his toes thanks to the animated bird. Surely lions were here, living upon Midgard, so how would the story continue??
(He hadn't noticed that the Deity Maua did not have a male prefix... but generally, when speaking of the Gods and without having a specific clarification "He" was often the way Vadik would refer to them.)

blessed our almighty Maua for they are great!
Oh oh so he was still listening! Ekon was happy to be entertaining and truly hoped @Vidak was enjoying himself. Dancing in place he used the ground to drum his feet. Stomping the Ostrich shook his body, his head moving left to right as he looked at the world around them. The rest of the story was a bit iffy to the bird, but he knew enough of it to go on. “Calm calm friend lion. I know now of Jotunheim or Helheim, but the land in which Maua found was troubled, and so they used all their magic, all their energies to combine both their world and another. Yet it didn’t work. Instead what was left was two worlds and a bridge. A bridge! It is still one used today. Yes yes friend lion! The very bridge that allowed you to enter Amaryllis!” He cheered as he stood back and danced some more. That was the end of his story and the lion was welcomed to throw his own thoughts and ideas as to what happened at him. For now the birdbrain danced and drummed his feet like a crazies wild creature who was too hyper and act too much sugar.

No Man Shall Live Beyond His Fated Death-Day
Oh a bridge! What an interesting fix. Indeed... Vadik knew of the bridge between the Aesir and Midgard. Perhaps this is the bridge the bird spoke of. In fact, Vadik could not remember... in all the tales his mother told to him... that explained the creation of the Rainbow Bridge. Perhaps this Maua they speak of is another name for the Guardian God, Heimdall?
Either way, Vadik decided it would be insensitive to those around them if he were to question their deity further. He could accept Heimdall in this form, if this is how he wished to be known in the South. It was all the same to Vadik.
The nordic male smiled to the bird and laughed at his antics, dancing and making a final show to conclude his story.
"Well, quite an end! I thank you, Bird, for sharing this bit of history with an outsider such as myself. It was quite enjoyable! I must say!"
He praised as he lifted himself from his settled place in the shade. It was time to go now, he could feel the hunger pains coming on... and it would not do to hunt near this place. He'd have to venture quite a ways away before feeding.
"I wish you health and long life, but I must go now. Thanks again, Bird. Most entertaining!"
And with that, Vadik turned his back upon the storyteller to make his way to the farthest hunting grounds.

(No worries!! I enjoyed this thread lol It didn't suck at all!!! <3)
