A family bound more than ever by the bonds of their blood. The essence of such divine life is thought to give them extraordinary power upon inflecting wounds to their own bodies. Upon doing so for a moment in time, sometimes severely minutes the individual feels they can strive to do anything within reach as their mind and body has stretched to the limits and allowed themselves a small chance to over come anything they are facing. Though they are not the overzealous bunch to go forth and seek out violence, war or raid other tribal lands, they have gone to war for prospects of better food, seeking a new home due to famine or disasters that make them leave. " Till victory or death, We reign forever in Nāmaka's Embrace! "
The ʻŌpūnui Tribe comes from a long ancient lineage from a far away island secluded by the sea on all sides. This large island during one time of the year becomes available by small winding sand dune like path ways that lead to no real visible place but beyond the horizon. During these times the ʻŌpūnui Tribe send forth select warriors to seek out new food and bring back females to their island.
Their home is lush with ever green grass, tall as the sky palm trees, vividly colored plants and flowers with lush sloping mountain ranges. The island has three locations that are incredible sacred to the tribe and its people. Near the sea lagoon is a medium size tunnel that leads to a cavern underground, a pooling hand of sea water can be seen here, the ʻŌpūnui Tribe uses this underwater passage way to get to a oceanic-hole like cave that is locked off to anything but the sea and sky. The tribe mainly uses this cave as a place for punishment only.
They are harsh to outsiders, often fighting them away, taking them as hostages or even so far as killing them if they obtain entry into their lands. The Elders and Medicine men are highly devoted individuals whom the entire tribe reaches out to, seeks help and guidance from and listens to their spoken words as law. This tribe also trains for everything in the ocean, regardless of the seas temperature and temperament they will seek to train within the waters edge or even deep enough that the water swallows over the back. The females of the tribe are devoted and driven by the goddess Nāmaka where as the males are driven by the god Kanehekili. They have four devoted deities that they seek and hold knowledge over but speak of other lesser deities and gods.
Their deities and gods? Ku: God of War, Nāmaka: Goddess of sea and water, Kaulu: Deity (Trickster) Kaulu is a trickster god and is quite destructive and at times violent, and is known for being one of the most powerful beings in their mythology, and Kanehekili: God of Thunder.
