The scent was sharp and wild on the wind, cutting through the damp rot of the Mire. Luther lifted his head, pale nostrils flaring as the musk of prey filled his lungs. It was fresh, tantalizing. He was not hungry, but his greed was immense. It was a good thing that he could use the emptying storage as an excuse to call for a hunt.

He tipped his head back, a deep and guttural call spilling from his throat, carrying through the murk like the tolling of a bell. It was a command, mandatory. They must work in order to keep their place, as everyone in this life. Even him.

She was runing some tests back in her then by the time Luther's commanding voice echoed through the deep and intricate swamps of the Mire. It was time for a hunt and she knew when Luther said the word, she and eveyrone else in this pride was to follow without delay.

Perfection was expected from them and Monza wasnt going to do anything diffrent from doing just that.

She arrived finding a lonely oryx. It was sad but it was better than nothing.

Like the shadow she was she snuck from behind the Oryx, and with a swift and well practiced move she would lounge at the creature's back, front paws outstretched to dig deep into each of it's shoulders. while she jaws found purchase on the aniaml's spine.

Aww, come on. He'd been having so much fun! By which he meant he'd been creating his own entertainment while still doing something that could conceivably be considered useful, which was patrolling the border. But not like, ambling slowly along. No, he'd been running full tilt along the border, both getting used to doing so in the rough and muddy terrain of the Mire, but also just exhilarating in the feel of the wind blowing through his mane and the foliage rushing by.

Okay, sure, sometimes he was easily amused. So sue him. Come say it to his face. You'll have to look down a bit to do so.

He let out a cranky grumble as he skidded to a stop upon hearing Luther's call, but still he turned away and followed. Might as well, he supposed. At least with this he could practice his sprinting with a purpose.

Resilient was the Mistress of Chains as she lounged casually amongst the dense entangled vines; aloft and away from the ground; a paw draped over a vine as she enjoyed her nap until the sound of her father punched through the stillness of the day. The growing adolescent woman would raise her head; ears sharply spanning forward as she listened for a moment; trying to discern if it was danger that required her attention or a social call.

It seemed to be neither; so the woman would slowly slide from the vine that she was resting upon; only to dip low towards the ground — dropping into a roll as she allows the dust and dirt to darken both pelt and erase the fingerprint of her signature scent.

Gracefully the Rike woman would pick her way through the underbrush and towards the call of her father; ears keenly set forward only to catch the faint echoes of herbivore feet against the ground. Prey. Luther called her for a hunt. The woman's pale eyes pine on Monza as she lunges at the back of the oryx and fails to pin it to the ground and then her gaze catches sight of Akuji sprinting towards the call as well.

A soft sigh would stir the lips of the young Rike as her limbs quicken under her; long strikes carrying her forward towards the oryx as she too launches herself at it; attempting to slam into its left side; forelimbs seeking to wrap about its neck as she quickly glances towards Monza — hoping the other woman could hold it steady.

Luther’s call was still hanging in the air when @Monza moved. Like a shadow, she leaped forward without hesitation, her lithe form cutting through the damp undergrowth in pursuit of the creature.

The snap of twigs and the sharp rustle of foliage followed her, a signal as clear as any command. @Kasija was here too. She tore after Monza, and he couldn't help but shake that irritating memory of Drena wedged in his young daughter's features. @Akuji chased along, once again proving that his short limbs were not in the way of following orders. Luther sought to swipe a paw at the creature's legs once he ran close enough, trying to trip it up.

Welp, it was time to prove he was useful to the pride he supposed. Little as Everick enjoyed hunting, he knew he didn't have a choice in the matter if he wanted to show that he was just as useful as his brother and hope to make a place for himself not only in the Mire pride but also in the Rike family. With his father, their Jarl, missing more often than not, he couldn't count on his position as the Jarl's son to do him any good. Besides, it hadn't really gotten him anything thus far anyway. Best to get in there and see if he could help out. At the very least he could say he was there. So he joined in on the hunt, pleased to see that he'd made the right decision because Luther was there, hauling ass after the oryx as well.

The oryx's panicked bleat split the swamp air as its slender legs carried it with desperate speed through the tangled mire. Its hooves skittered on the slick, marshy ground, spraying mud and water as it bounded forward. But Luther was not far behind, his pale form a specter of inevitability in the dim light. Each stride brought him closer yet.

He surged forward, his powerful form barreling toward the creature’s legs. Timing his strike perfectly, he swiped a massive paw against the oryx’s hind limb, his claws slicing through flesh as the creature let out a pained cry. Its legs buckled beneath it, and it skidded forward in a desperate attempt to regain balance, its momentum crashing it into a tangled thicket.
