Now deep into winter and from what Rhett could see the pride had been rather stagnant in numbers - a move they actually made strategic sense. He’d been doing his best to keep the cache if not full, at least with something enough to keep them all going. Sure, he’d have liked to find larger game but for that he’d need more hunters.

Nose twitched as a scent comes his way. Carefully he begins to pick his way through the underbrush. Moisture hung in the air and seeped its way past the canopy above. This rainforest really did live up to its name.

Something moved up ahead and eyes narrowed. Retreating back a short ways he let out a call, hoping to attract the attention of his pride mates. It was time for another lesson in cooperation and another chance to fill empty bellies.

Another call to hunt, another chance to practice working as a group. Lucifer moved toward the call, curious to see what @Rhett had found for them this time. He would arrive silently, slipping into the space to the older male's left with an expression of expectant curiosity. Their last hunt had gone very well, and he hoped this one went just as smoothly as the last.

Ahead, he spotted the movement and his brows raised. Lucifer glanced to the side, as if to silently ask if the other man was sure about this plan. A rhino calf might be a good catch if they could manage it, but he was a bit more worried about the parent that might be nearby.

He listened to the forest around them for a moment, seeking out any sounds of signs that might indicate a larger counterpart for the small rhino calf that had found itself wandering in dangerous territory. The only sounds however came lightly and careful as @Lucifer appeared near him. At his skeptical look Rhett simply nodded. He'd spotted no signs of any parents, and the calf had a slight gauntness to it. He had to assume it was perhaps orphaned in some tragedy, or otherwise separated from its herd. It was a tragic situation for the creature, making it perhaps a mercy that they should end its suffering, but it was the way of life in the wild.

He opened his jaws slightly, breathing in the air around them for a moment to try to catch the scent of any other pridemates. Eyes turned to Lucifer for a moment as his brow raised. Where was everyone else? The man would need to start drafting lions into the hunting parties before he found something to hunt at this rate. It was a pity more hadn't shown - but at least he and the king of the rainforest would eat well that night.

Hunting wasn’t beneath him. He would help if it meant his clan would be fed, but it bothered him that this hunting party was so small. Moving on careful paws he joined @Rhett and @Lucifer. Eyes looking at both before he bowed in greeting. "Himura." He said simply in a whisper to the two other men. Red eyes then turning to the rhinoceros calf. "A dangerous hunt for so few, but a Samurai doesn’t shy his sword away from danger." Basically it was a long winded way of him saying he wasn’t scared. Moving into places he took a stalking position and waited.

@Rhett seemed confident this wasn't going to get them trampled by a waiting mama rhino, and Lucifer chose to trust his judgment. Although, at the hunter's own questioning look, all he could do was shrug. He had no idea where everyone was - it was a big territory and they had few members.

Attention shifted, then, to the arrival of a stranger. Trespassers didn't generally introduce themselves and join in pride hunts, so he assumed the man had been brought in by someone else. A nod, and his own name, "Lucifer." would be offered to the self-described samurai, @Himura.

With two older males present, it seemed he'd be of better use flushing the creature toward them. "I'll circle around, send it your way." Voice was kept low, and he soon disappeared, silently, into the brush, melting into the shadows to do exactly as he'd said.

Something else stirred nearby as @Himura appeared from elsewhere in the forest. Rhett waited for the young monarch to introduce himself before following suit, Rhett. he replied, voice short and low as to not disturb the creature prematurely. Eyes then shifted to @Lucifer with a nod at the younger lions decree. you flush it this way, we’ll go for either side. he instructed - making brief eye contact with the older lion to signify he was directing that at him as well before taking his position. Hopefully with the two of them they could cut it off and make it a quick fight. No need for the youngling to suffer an extended and terrified end.

Death should be with honor. Swift. Making this hunt drag out wouldn’t have any benefits. If anything it could just make more danger come to them. An angry aunt, a mad mama, a dangerous dad. Though he doubted that there was any chance that a hero would come for the calf. This was lion territory surely a mother would know to keep their children near in such a place.

Hearing @Lucifer speak he nodded his head before turning his attention to @Rhett as he gave introductions. Head nodding to him he shifted to get in place and help do the job tasked to him in his hunt.
