We hope that everyone is enjoying the site-wide break and is able to come back to Amaryllis feeling refreshed and ready to jump back into things! We know it can be a busy time of year for everyone, so we are hoping to kick off the second half of the summer with an important, and hopefully helpful, update.
- Staff and Team Payments: Members of the Staff Team are given a set petal amount each month that they complete their tasks. We are going to be upping this base amount from 50 petals to 100 petals, and Staff members who go above and beyond the base level of work will also be able to earn 150. All members on any of the site teams will now earn 75 petals per month.
- We get a LOT of character auditions on a near-daily basis and know that it can sometimes be difficult to wait for them to be processed. To help account for this and to try and keep auditions moving at a quicker rate, we have designated a Staff member who’s first and main focus will be auditions, with other Staff tasks will be secondary. We hope that this will help with processing times and will add more Staff to this role if needed.
- Multi-lion Challenges: Clarity has been added to the Guidebook to state that you cannot have multiple of your own characters fighting on the SAME side of a multi-lion fight. Fighting on opposite sides is fine.
- Tho Who’s Who Archive Log is now public and can be found in the “Logs” forum in Maintennance.
- Errors With Fight Dice Coding: Moving forward, you may now edit fight posts without permission from Sr. Staff to do the following things: fix dice coding errors, add tags, and fix coding issues. This also means that editing a fight post without permission will NOT result in a default.
- If Sr. Staff find that you are changing anything else within your fight posts or attempting to change the outcome of the dice, you will be automatically defaulted and you will face a possible ban. Do not abuse this change.
- Lead Occupational Ranks can now promote pride members into the occupational ranks within their occupational category. To do this, an IC thread is required - only leadership characters can conduct OOC rank shuffles and they can override these promotions as they see fit.
- Cannibalism is now listed as an official trigger warning topic. You must includes a trigger warning on any posts that touch on this.
- Male characters who have gone inactive and are subsequently reauditioned within 1 month of inactivity can be sorted back into their pride automatically. If you wish for them to be added back to their previous pride, please note that in your audition, otherwise they will be sorted to rogue.
- Fight extensions (i.e. waiving fight timers) that place another character in limbo need to have approval from all parties and not just the active fighters.
- Example: If engaging in a claim match for a lioness or cub, if the fighting parties wish to waive/ignore the 72 hour fight timers, they also need to get permission from the player of the character that is being claimed. Otherwise, a default can be requested.
- Wounded rolls should go off of a character’s IC timeline as much as possible - in the case of multiple fight threads happening at different points due to liquid time, follow the timeline for which dice to use. If you have a wounded roll removal request pending in maintenance and their wounded date has passed, you can use their full dice in any fights set afterwards.
- Furthermore, the OOC wounded log will be archived as of this announcement to reduce repetitive logging. Wounded dates will be available solely on a character’s account, attached to their wounded icon.
- Originally, we had planned on providing a revamp on how pride tiers are earned (pride hunts and events). However, this has unfortunately been deferred to the next update.
There has been a small tweak to two of the lead occupational rank perks: for lead advisor and lead scout. These changes have been done to provide better balance and utility for all lead occupational ranks.
- Lead Scout: The perk is now “+1 dodge rolls when fighting on your pride territory or an allied pride's territory.”
- This is replacing the previous perk of “+1 luck to all pride-mates when fighting on their pride territory (must be present prior to the start of the fight).”
- Lead Advisor: The perk is now “+1 luck to all pride-mates when fighting on their pride territory (must be present prior to the start of the fight).”
- This is replacing the previous perk of “50/50 chance to stop a dominance or maim challenge between members of their own pride, or between a member of their own pride and of an allied pride.”
Being brought back to life after losing a death match is a very significant event. The Sr. Staff team has been keeping an eye on how things have been unfolding with the perks and the trade revamp, and have heard concerns and comments from the community on this topic as well. A death match should not be taken lightly and neither should the outcome. Below are the changes that we are implementing for when someone is brought back to life via a trade perk after a death match:
- Resurrection can be attempted by a medic or a cleric, but not both for the same character. This means they only have one shot at resurrection.
- A character can only be resurrected once during their lifetime. If they are resurrected and die again, then they are automatically moved into the afterlife.
- This applies to all future resurrections only. Past examples are grandfathered in.
- Any character who gets resurrected will have their dice lowered permanently as a handicap – they will have -1 hit and -1 dodge reduced and an icon on their profile will be added to showcase their resurrection status.
- This dice reduction will be on a moving-forward basis and does not apply to those who have already been resurrected.
To help streamline some things a bit more and move maintenance along more quickly for members, the Sr Staff team is making some adjustments to the preliminary steps that are required for breeding requests on-site.
Currently, in order to submit a litter request in “Cub Requests”, members just need to have a breeding thread. A Sr. Staff member then does a roll to see whether the breeding attempt was successful or unsuccessful.
Now, members will be in charge of conducting a roll in their breeding thread to see whether their attempt is successful or unsuccessful. This can be done by either character at the end of the breeding thread.
These rolls will be dependent and change based on the current IC season. The coding will be available in the Guidebook and each season has different odds of success, with spring having the highest odds and winter having the lowest.
If the breeding attempt is rolled as unsuccessful:
- You will not be permitted to submit a request in “Cub Requests” for a litter roll.
- If you would like to try again, you will need to make a new breeding thread and conduct another roll.
If the breeding attempt is rolled as successful:
- You will then be able to submit a request in “Cub Requests” for your litter roll.
- You will use your successful breeding thread in the cub request field for “breeding thread”.
- If you have less than 3 threads together, there is still a small chance that you may end up with 0 cubs, but you will still have the ability to re-roll once for free. More threads will always be better!
This new system will also replace the Staff-made Maua posts.
- If wanting to request a Maua litter, the characters will still need to make a thread discussing wanting a family/etc.
- Afterwards, either character can input the breeding roll into the bottom of one of their posts.
- If the breeding roll is successful, members can play out the remainder of the thread however they would like. This includes self-determining how Maua appears before them, how the thread plays out, etc.
- Staff will not be posting Maua directly to these threads anymore and you are expected to play out and finish the thread on your own.
- In the future, we hope to integrate pre-made posts or prompts to give more flair into the Maua posts, but , for the time being, it will be free-form and up to the members to play it out as desired.
- If the breeding roll is unsuccessful, another thread will be needed and the couple can try again.
The Admin team has been working very hard with Widow to develop some shiny, new, automated pride pages - the ultimate goal of which was to make pride page management easier on leaders as well as Admins. We are very excited to officially roll these out to everyone!
The index links will be updated momentarily. The old pride pages will be archived with Sr.Staff.
The new pride pages will update all members and their details (age, rank, trades, mates) automatically by pulling this information directly from their usergroup and profiles. The pride pages also keep an up-to-date census tally, broken down by number of adults, yearlings, and cubs. Finally, they have been redesigned into a tab system that makes all of the needed information about news, history, laws, and tier tracking easily accessible.
And, of course, outlaw bands get these as well!
In short:
- Pride pages and member information is now fully automatic.
- Pride page maintenance is no longer a leadership requirement and leaders will not be tagged for updates to their members.
- There is a new, easier, way for leaders to update their pride pages.
- The tab layout breaks down all of the necessary information you need to know about the pride.
- The “[Pride] Center” forums within a pride’s territory are going to be deleted. Pride tier tracking now happens directly on the pride pages.
The leaders have been playing around with them for the last week and they are ready for you to finally see them! The sidebar/index links to the prides have been updated to take you directly to these new pages. The old pages will be archived in a couple of days and no further updates will be made to them by pride leaders.
Click here for a list of all of the new automated pages!
A few extra things to note:
- We are unable to list out open/available ranks. Please reference the “Pride Ranks” page of the Guidebook for all ranks that exist within prides. Band ranks will be listed in the “Extra Details” tab of the band’s page.
- To have a little image show up above your character’s name, you need to fill in the "Character Chibi" spot in your user profile.
- The “extra details” tab is, overall, up to the pride leader and is optional. If they do not want the tab, Staff can remove it and it can be added back for the next leader if desired.
We have heard many times that members wish for outlaw bands to have a little more oomph – which is why we have been working with the Trade Revamp team to make some much-needed updates to the mechanics and make outlaw bands more enticing.
Please note that this is only an initial patch for the band system. The team, after allowing some time to properly observe these changes and how they play out, will be open to making additional adjustments as needed.
Please review the Outlaw Band Guidebook page for the FULL details on the new system. A summary list is provided below but you will need to look at the page to acquire all the details and specifics.
In summary, the following changes have been made to the outlaw band system:
Outlaw Band Leaders
- Band slots are being reduced to 5. Band slots will always be HALF of the total amount of prides on-site.
- Bands will no longer be logged in the Guidebook. They will remain clearly listed on the sidebar/index of the site.
- Outlaw Band Leaders are now considered primary leaders – meaning you cannot have a band leader and a pride leader. They will also get a unique symbol next to their name to go with their leader usergroup.
- If you currently have a band leader and a pride leader, you have 2 OOC weeks as-of this update to find a replacement for one of your leadership characters. If you have not found a replacement by that time, one will have to disband.
- Band leaders have new leadership requirements: tracking their history and news, the same as pride leaders do.
- Outlaw Bands also have automated pages, as per the pride pages update.
- Only the main leader will have the ability to have the icon and editing pride page ability.
Band Tiers and Band Abilities
- Bands will be given tiers. There will be 3 base band tiers and a 4th band tier that is awarded after consistent activity.
- Please see the Guidebook page for additional details and the related perks that bands can get for achieving tiers.
- They earn tiers the same way as prides, through hunts or pride events.
- Bands can be listed as allies on pride pages and vice-versa. Additionally, bands can take-in members from allied prides if they have the space to do so, and count as official allies to prides in wars/raids/etc.
- Band members are now able to claim rogues and/or challenge for members of other prides.
Band Creation
- 5 characters, in total, are required to create a band – 4 supporters + band leader.
- The primary leader must be an Outlaw – secondary leaders can be of any trade.
- Creatures can lead Outlaw bands if they are of the Outlaw trade.
- Individual threads are not needed with supporters. However, you MUST have an establishment thread with your supporters in your chosen territory in order to become official and submit the band request.
- The band leader must also meet leadership requirements at the time of formation.
- Each neutral territory can only support 1 band at a time.
- A band can choose to occupy any area of the neutral forum (sub-forum or the main forum).
- This means that you cannot have an outlaw band in Aniadar Jungle and The Scorched Wilds, for example.
Band Challenges for Territory/Band Slot
- Outlaws can challenge another band for ownership of their chosen territory and/or for their band slot by purchasing a band challenge pass from the Shop for 200 petals.
- They must meet all requirements to establish a band, including membership, at the time of buying the band challenge pass.
Given an influx of creature characters, the Staff and Designer teams have decided to fold in some last-minute changes to the update to modify how creature markings work and are counted for during auditioning.
For non-lion big cats with breeding potential (i.e. hybrid potential), all unnatural markings - whether they are global or non-global - need to be counted.
For all other creature species, you do not need a marking breakdown for any markings, unnatural or natural, unless they are an unnatural global marking.
- Example: if you have a wolf with global shading, you do not need to count or buy that global because it is natural. If you have a wolf with global rosettes, however, you need to count it and pay for it because it is unnatural.
These changes are being made to simplify Staff and team work load and streamline creature creation, while still accounting for breeding potential for big-cats. All other creature creation details remain the same.
