She is pushed away by her father as he is thrown into his own fight, the Princess watching with wide eyes as blood is spilled from her King and his opponent. It only made Mélisande wish she could find her own fight to be in, to watch as she made another bleed like Gauthier was doing to his.

That's it. She hears it.

The call for assistance from their ally was enough to spur Mélisande into action, charging in the direction it had come from. Narrowed gaze sees a larger woman going after a male where the call had sounded from, her attention now locked upon the man. She wasn't sure exactly what was going on but the yearling was dying to get her teeth and claws into some hot flesh. She charges towards the male's free side, attempting to clinch the distance and throw both forelimbs up and toward him, to sink claws into the middle of his back and drag downward toward the ground. Her hindlegs stay as stable as they can be, claws digging into the hard pact sand while her tail flails out behind her to further aide in balance.

The words that go back and forth he cannot help but find highly amusing. The brash nature that @Freja has to offer the smaller lions has his eyes coming to life with blazing heat. They glide down to her when she looks briefly back to him. The approval very much evident.

They claim they do not care. But oh how they would when she set every tree of theirs on fire. Or poisoned every bit of food. Maybe their Queen would take a bite and poison her very milk. Kill her own children with it. His grin is large and toothy from the mere thought of it all. Of all the ways keeping her was sure to backfire right in the Lagoon's faces.

Cassius wraps a paw around the front of Freja. Pulls her back slightly enough to whisper into her ear only for her to hear. Give them hell. Do whatever it takes. Get out on your own if you're able but I will come for you. He kisses that same ear before letting her go.

The sound of his uncle catches his attention then. Blue eyes watch for a moment before his tongue clicks behind his teeth. He could leave. He was indeed ready to head home. But would he really leave his uncle to an unfair fight? Yes. But did he want to? Somewhat yes.

The somewhat was good enough to spur Cassius. He sighs heavily, rolls his shoulders, and greedily charges back across the border; through the tumbling of bodies, and right into the back of Cassandra. Claws attempt to rip into her hips for an anchoring hold as teeth seek to sink into her lower back close to her spine.

He'd go down with the other X'uekai male.
Sure.
Why not.

The Monster

Velasco X’uekai

Ah, how wonderful the banshee joins the fray spouting insults like the woman she is. The monster snarls at her, lips peeling back to revile teeth in a wide wicked grin. "The banshee lives, one eye gone, what a shame" he sneers at her, a laugh bubbling through his throat.

And then she comes at him. Her front limbs embrace him in a hug as her claws tear into flesh leaving red sprouting to the surface. Her teeth tear into his face and Velasco snars but doesn't redraw.

Instead, he attempts to strike at her side with his right front limb, claws aiming to dig in as far back as he can reach and pull towards himself. At the same time, his jaws snap open as he attempts to clamp down on the side of her neck.

Then pain blooms over his other side, claws tearing into his flesh. The monster snarls but for now, focuses his attack on his already chosen target. Besides his cousin has so gracefully decided to join him, for unknown reasons to the older X'uekai man. Then again, some family bonding over combat never failed to hit just right.

The Dark Ranger followed the trail of his King, journeying across sand and tide to reach the bloodied trenches of war. The battle had already begun, but it seemed far from finished. He moved purposely, eyes searching and finding Gauthier already engaged. The corners of his mouth curled in a vanishing smile before his head turned and he continued his march, seeking the opportunity to wetten his own claws with the blood of an enemy.

He did not know @Cassius ♔, but when Étienne spotted him there, clashing in the same conflict that @Mélisande was tangled in. @Cassandra, too, was unfamiliar to him, yet his younger relative had moved to defend her, and so the Ranger rushed forward, following her, his chosen foe: the black beast.

Wordlessly, unwilling to announce his intention, Étienne aimed to charge toward his foe from the side, teeth bared and snapping, trying to bite at his face in an effort to discourage him from pursuing the already wounded lioness. In the same motion, a paw attempted to lift and reach out, seeking to push the beast away from his own victim with claws outstretched, ready to rip and mangle.

red eyes catch the form of her pride mate cassius launching into battle alongside a male that manon doesn't recognize. against them stand three and manon's lips turn downwards in a frown.

the yearling charges forward, mother's fight momentarily forgotten as she aims to slam into étienne's left side,, where his foreleg meets his abdomen, with the point of her left shoulder thrust forward to try and drive the point hard into the boy. at the same time her jaws snap forward in an attmempt to close around his scruff, attempting to grip it between her teeth. lastly her right forepaw slams down, attempting to slam onto the top of his left forepaw with claws out and trying to take all the way down his limb in the process.

He was unable to hold on for long but the scrape of fangs on her brow were anything but painless. She winced as they dug in but focused on her assault of his face. She couldn't quite see it, but she felt the thin skin beneath his eye catch in her claws, snagging and sending blood dripping down onto her crown until he pulled away. Rivulets stained her fur. "Hey, look. We match!" she snarled. Twins of crisp white fur stained with the blood of their opponent. "Can I have a little more of yours?" He shoved her shoulders down. She was no longer squaring off face to face with the boy, but instead looking down at the ground as it rushed to meet her.

His jaws closed in hot around her neck, tightening as he took her down and she sought out the only flesh she could reach: that of his other forepaw. She stretched her neck as much as possible beneath his grip and aimed to grab at whatever she could of his paw as her chin slammed into the ground.

Many things happened quickly. Almost too quick to comprehend. @Diomedeidae's scream behind him sent a jolt to his heart and a brief surge of adrenaline throughout his body. He turned just in time to see her barreling into his maimer and he cried out for her, unable to bear the thought of her receiving the same fate at the hands of the red woman. He made one step backward in her direction until—

Ah. Zanmi. We should get that looked at. The silky croon of the Brook man reached his ears. A man he had thought good. A man he thought he shared an understanding with despite the will of their leaders. Only to be betrayed. It was his fault that Matti lacked the strength he needed to help properly in this war and it was his fault he must now live without his left eye. If it became his fault that anything more should befall Dio, there would be no life left for the man to live. He would see to that. He jerked away at @Lathan's touch, hate filling his words as he spat back through heavy breaths, "Ou pa zanmi mwen." You are no friend of mine. He was hurt, more than just physically. It pained him to see this war unfold but it pained him much more to have his trust taken so willingly for a ride.

He didn't see the colossal body until it was right upon the pair and in Matti's narrowed field of view. He ducked away from @Arkyn's charge, towards the sound of @Rhea's voice as she appeared before him. He leaned in heavily for her support, but again, much continued to happen. They made it very few steps before they were stopped in their tracks by yet another Brook man, this one unfamiliar. He reached for Rhea and Matti made to step between her and the man until the dog-piling ensued and the world became a flurry of bodies around them.

He scrunched his one good eye closed and backed up, trying to bring Rhea with him out of harm's way. His head throbbed even more now. How much more of this could he take? Matthieu! @Heloise? "'eloise!" he croaked in relief. "Come wid me to 'eloise, madmwazèl Rhea." He couldn't bother with any more of the chaos around him; his singular focus now on the skull-faced woman. Heavy steps through blood-stained sand brought her closer and he fell in a heap at her paws once they made it away from the closest fighting.

The moment he heard her voice he was already letting out a defeated sigh, even as he turned a stern look toward first @Dresden and then @Tove. "At least be cautious," he warned, knowing that there was little point in arguing with them now that they'd followed. He couldn't protect them forever. Not as much as he wished it. They'd already grown taller than himself or their mother as it was.

Khal's attention shifted back to his mother and sisters and their battles, watching Isla throw down the would be usurper just as he turned back to Cassandra in time to see Icefang get her own vengeance. He grimaced, claws flexing into the sand as he watched the white Queen taunt Isla with Cassandra's eye. Isla was quick to accept her invitation and he needn't have worried too much for his other sister as she threw her bleeding self quickly back into the fray.

Morrigan had taken the phrase an eye for an eye quite literally it seemed as he watched the Rike she'd been fighting depart with a blood trail behind him. He looked to his daughters again, gauging their reactions to war, real war, even as his bristled waiting for someone to target them.
