as the early morning light lit up the grounds of the boneyard, it seemed as though someone had been quite busy the evening before. because there, scattered throughout the confusing mess of bones and light fog, was a sort of game — a scavenger hunt, if you will, though lions and creatures of all ages would find some delight in this holiday treat. gemstones, fruits, bones, and other trinkets had been purposefully stuffed into a series of odd-looking logs, which were further decorated with berries and tuffs of odd, green flora, before being dispersed about the area. all that was needed now was a curious-enough soul to start tracking them down.

guidelines & instructions

track down the yule logs and see if there is a prize inside! there is no posting order.

• rolling for prizes: in your searching post, insert [*roll=1d3] (remove the *) at the bottom to see whether or not your character has won a prize.
• dice values: rolling a 1 means you found 10 exp, rolling a 2 means you found 25 petals, and rolling a 3 means you didn’t find anything and need to try again.
• limits: you can keep posting/rolling until you have successfully received 5 presents. any yule log prizes must go to that character’s account.
• 5 is the maximum number of prizes each character can earn and can be any combination of exp and petals.
• open for rolling until: January 9 (two weeks)

Carefully, cautiously and oh so excitedly did he march around this new area to find cool things. Thankfully he had only noticed one before realizing that someone had dumped the Boneyard with them. So of course he pranced to each one in an effort to inspect and make sure he was choosing the best ones. Sniffing, poking and prodding were at play here as he made sure to look at each one before finding the plumpest one and gravitating back to it. Slamming his paw onto the top of it once, then twice, before its contents leaked out and he grimaced.

Just like last time she moseyed around looking at the logs and choosing one at random. Her eyes trailing around to see what everyone else had found or was looking for while trying to use her claws to open it up. It was a bit tough in some parts of the log but ultimately she was able to finally crack it open just enough to see inside but the lightning was so poor because of the cloudy skies that all she saw was darkness. So she tried ripping through again and then peering in, finding that she could see what she had discovered at last!

Having garnered something nice once from these logs, Chaeton was anxious to try his hand at them again. This time they were scattered around the boneyard which made it easier to travel around the area since it was a bit flatter than the last place. Taking a log and laying down with it he begun to tear into it and hope that he could be just as lucky but again, he wasn't putting his stock into it either. Best to not be disappointed because he had gotten his hopes up so he tore into until there was nothing more to tear and looked inside.

Cosmin had gotten lucky once and he could do it again, right? Right! Cosmin felt he had been a fairly lucky Savante in the time he had been alive and while his father didn't rule the Hollow and he was no longer royalty, he still felt like he won the lottery every day. Perhaps even now he felt like it was on his side and that the logs he chose were sent by the Mother and that he would never be left wanting. So he chose one at random and started to knock it around, waiting for the telltale sign that it had broken.

Like any creature of habit she finds the logs again and immediately bows her head in a quiet prayer to her Maua. Giving a silent prayer to her Creator for bestowing upon these strangers the gifts that they have brought to this land. They know not what they are receiving nor whom from but Renly knows that Maua has worked tirelessly to give them small bits of hope and excitement. Much as she takes a log and gently begins to undo its coverings, claws ripping through it as she can only hold onto hope that she be as lucky as the last.

It was a curious enough sight from a distance, a small gathering of lions seemingly preoccupied with...something on the ground. Interesting enough to delay his return home in favor of investigating.

Upon drawing closer, the reason became apparent. Decorated logs. Each was occupied with their own, but he did spot one that had yet to be claimed. Intrigue carried him forward, to where he could reach out and roll one toward himself. And then back and forth on the ground, inspecting the curious object. It had been a strange enough season that the questions of how and why weren't yet on his mind.

So sometimes failure was necessary (and to her it wasn't almost second nature) but she had never believed in simply giving up, either. Instead she decided to continue on and searched in a new direction. Dragging a log out from underneath a large berry-carrying bush and began to pick at it with an almost gentle touch. Sniffing at it and for a moment swearing there were berries inside before remembering where it came from, duh, then continued to hope that maybe there were different kind of berries inside that were edible, in the very least. That'd be nice.

The lion equivalent of gold continued to elude him a good bit. As though taunting him at every checkpoint as well as testing his will to continue. Getting nothing didn't feel very good but it did only spur his desire to try again and again and again. Chaeton could be persistent when he wanted to be and not belonging to anywhere, he had a lot more time on his hands than most. Sometimes it was awful not having any purpose and led him down a dark hole, but today he was invigorated to keep opening these stupid logs if it was the last thing he did.

Putting forth a long and heaving sigh into the air, he leaned his head to one side and took a great yawn. One paw draped over the newest log that he had found and trying to stay awake. Perhaps he was exerting more energy than he had anticipated and his nap time was knocking at his window telling him how late he was. Yet he would prevail, wanting to win and dine in glory like he expected his own family would. None of them were here to see his glory but they would if he brought them gifts.
