Louve listens to what Amara says and the older lioness can't help but wonder if there is still more to be said but putting the fight off for more words wouldn't help. Louve says nothing before jumping into the fight. Amara's golden gaze locks on her daughter and she takes in a deep breath. This was something that couldn't be avoided. Louve has to earn this and Amara has to have a reason to let it go. If Louve had just asked for it, it would mean nothing.

Louve grows close and makes the first move, landing her teeth in her mother's neck earning a seething sound and a grunt of pain as claws rip into her ribs. Amara attempts to bite down where Louve's shoulder and neck come together. Her paw lifts and she attempts to claw into the underbelly flesh that is closer and exposed to her with her daughter having slid into the fight. Each attempt pulled at Amara's mind, she had made it a point to not draw blood from the family but there was no way to get around this. Amara knew this but struggled with the feeling of it not only being a family member but her own daughter.

She is aware of the growing crowd but pays them no mind. They would be there when the fight was over.

Elaine's ears prick as her sister's voice lifts over the Bluffs. It had just been a matter of time, she knew that. There was a lump in her chest as she moved toward the fight. There was a lot of unknown with this fight and Elaine and she tried not to think about this too much as she arrived. She spotted @Xavier first and moved to her brother's side. They weren't a touchy-feely family but she pulled her body along his free side, making very close contact with him. If anyone could understand the turmoil in her mind, it would be him. They had seen a lot together, been apart from each other, and somehow, when things were happening, he was there. She gave @Lune a tight look before her attention moved back to the fight. She had no words, nothing to offer either of them. There was a pale female missing from their gathering but Elaine had long ago stopped looking for her. So many were there but her focus narrowed on their fight between her mother, a long-standing ruler, and her sister who had been leading the family and was largely untested when it came to protecting everything that they had here. Would it matter? Elaine would always be there for @Louve ♔ but she would only be able to do so much if someone came for the pride.

the crowd grows, but they are not her focus. everything else falls away, her attention honing in on only one. only her mother. louve attacks amara's left and feels a successful bite of teeth and claws, tastes her mother's blood in her mouth. it is enough to ignite that familiar fury and louve does not think before giving in to it, embracing the bloodlust that would guide her through this fight to victory.

amara retaliates as louve's paw falls back to the ground, landing with a thud as gravity does its job.

amara's teeth scrape through the flesh of her neck and louve gives a quick shake of her head, attempting to lessen the damage while also seeking to worsen the damage that she has caused, attempting to hold tight to the flesh of her mother's neck between her teeth. there is no time to fully escape her mother's claws but she shifts away from them all the same, clenching her jaw and hoping that the bite of her teeth will force her mother to back down. louve does not back down even as the claws threaten her belly, blocking the pain as they bite in to her skin and spill her blood. she pulls her own paw once more from the ground and attempts to hook her claws in to the armpit of the leg that amara had attacked with, seeking to take advantage of it's raised position.

There is a commotion happening within the Bluffs. Bea can almost feel it in the air as she maneuvers across the large ledge that she found herself precariously perched upon. The little elf had no intentions of socializing, she was not a social creature by nature. Unlike her Master, she could not find it within her to speak to the others, and the language barrier did not make it easy either. Over time she was beginning to learn @Lazare's mother tongue, but it was difficult. She sneaks her way across the cliffside, glancing downward to get a good glimpse of the fight. Though her mismatched gaze moves through the crowd, locating @Lazare and breathing out a sigh of relief. The little nymph would lie down, allowing herself to relax slightly as she stretches out, mismatched gaze intent on the strong women fighting below.

Ever a dutiful daughter, Régine had taken her time getting to the challenge between her mother and older sister, preferring to do her duty and gather some bones to chew on while she listened to whatever was going down between Amara and Louve. She was late in getting there, it would seem, as her sisters were already there. An ear flicked as the poison-eyed daughter peered around the gathered lions before making her way specifically to her sisters, not even caring if she pushed past anyone roughly. Let them try to stop her. She'd show them what blood flowed through her veins.

Green gaze would flicker to @Faustine as the other lioness spoke of what this was. Her gaze would flicker to @Lazare as she spoke of Louve winning. Despite knowing that Louve was indeed her elder sister, she would still support her mother in this fight. "C'est ma mère qui va gagner, pas la tienne.*" She said, her voice snarky even as a cub.

She would make her way to sit by @Delphine, aiming to flop roughly against her sister to chew on the bone she'd brought with her. Possessive posture dared someone to try to take it from her.

Whenever there was some kind of summons for a fight, Keelia was not far behind. She had always been interested in that sort of thing, it was right up her ally. She knew vaguely that the Bluffs were an ally to her pride, but she'd never actually been there herself. She planned to use this as her first major excursion to the pride but didn't have any intentions of making this a social call. On her way to the bluffs she would stop to apply some mud and snow to her fur, hoping to obscure the scent of the Cove just in case. When she did finally cross over the borders she found a tiny space between some boulders and shrubbery to hide her petite body in. Lavender gaze flickers to finally land on the two women fighting, it was quite the event. Even so this felt far more intimate than any of the other challenges she'd attended, she wondered if there was reasoning for that. Either way she intended to stay hidden so she could see this through.

Blood seeps from her ribs as Louve's claws leave her body and return to the ground. Amara's teeth scrape along her daughter's neck but don't find a hold as Louve shakes her body making it harder to get a grip and she can feel the teeth of the younger lioness digging into her flesh. This was a move that Amara had used many times on those she attacked, there was a moment of amusement that Louve was now using it against her. Her claws sliced into Louve's belly, Amara was careful and made sure that she didn't cut deep enough to harm her daughter's ability to carry cubs but deep enough to draw blood as she dragged the claws back toward her. Louve's claws dug into her armpit causing her to pull her leg back to her more quickly to get it out of the way and set it on the ground. Amara attempts to lift her other leg and attempts to claw into Louve's ribcage as she attempts to lower her head and attempts to bite the top area of Louve's leg hard.

with her hold on her mother's neck still seemingly secured louve does not give up, maintaining whatever grip she can manage even as her claws score the tender skin of her mother's armpit. that leg drops and the other lifts and still louve attempts to hold tight to the left side of her mother's neck, to dig her teeth in just deep enough to hurt without killing the woman.

with all four paws back on the ground she grunts against the pain of amara's claws; they slash deep wounds across her ribcage that bleed immediately. at the same time her mother attempts to drop her head and louve reacts with another shake of her head, attempting to prevent the high sovereign from reaching her intended mark. at the same time louve lifts her left paw from the ground (mirroring the one that amara had lifted*) and turns her wrist, aiming her extended claws for her mother's exposed underbelly and attempting to score her own wounds, there.

maybe they'd walk away with matching tattoos.

The cry for bloodshed is not something that should be feared. This is the truth that Roussel has come to learn with each battlefield that has presented itself before his young eyes - wherever the Dieudonné chose to hunt, the utter destruction of their enemies soon followed. (And they shall hunt again soon, he hopes, to purify the desert sands with the heavenly flood of metallic crimson.)

But what does it mean when the heady perfume of battle is not accompanied by the taint of an outsider's presence?

It's not a question that the rosy youth will find just lazing about in the sunshine outside his den, tempting though it is to surrender himself back to the embrace of the dream that the Matriarch's glorious call had so mercilessly torn him out of. But the lure of blood and curiosity is an even greater temptation still, and so the youth heaves himself to his feet with a yawn and a languid stretch.

(Besides, if he made a point of showing his face here, it might just go unnoticed that Roussel had most definitely not been out patrolling like he technically should have been doing.)

He finds a true spectacle indeed, amidst the wisps of whirling dust and melting snow - A battle between Queens. Dark nostrils flare with a gasp that teeters the line between shock and morbid delight, gleaming eyes watching with rapt attention as the Matriarch exchanged blow after vicious blow with her own flesh and blood.

Barely does he catch the ruddy reds of @Valère's clay coat out of the corner of his eye, but catch it he does, and his mottled paws naturally prance him over to where his brother stands alongside @Lazare, approaching just in time to hear the enviously debonair @Apollinaire's jovial words. "Et qu’arrivera-t-il à celui qui tombe?" And what shall happen to the one who falls?

It seems a fair question, even if his initial thought for an answer borders on sacrilege, the pink curl of his tongue instinctively swiping over dark lips.

Perhaps he has more than one reason to watch the duel so raptly.

Louve's teeth in her neck were annoying and seemed to be getting a better hold as the moments passed. Amara was well aware that with the hold, there was little that she could do. She couldn't get away and she also wasn't able to move enough to get a grip of her own as Louve pulled against her as she tried to bite down on her daughter's leg. Her claws manage to cut down Louve's ribs and open her flesh to the air just as Louve's claws slice into her underbelly. A low growl of pain leaves her as she feels her belly tense up under the pain and blood drips to the ground. So much of her blood had been soaked up by the Bluffs, there was no way that it didn't feel her at this point, know her in a way that it couldn't know anyone else that had come before her. Maybe, in time, it would know Louve the same way. She tucks her body up a little and rocks her weight onto her hind legs. One of her paws reaches up and attempts to claw into the back of Louve's neck to try and get her to let go and the other paw attempts to claw into Louve's opposite foreleg.
