All you could do is move forwards step by step and deal with what was coming up next. Dio could not change what her family has had to go through, what her father has had to go through. She can wonder night after night why or she could do something about it. In sleep it was hard to shake the wonderings and stop dwelling on the past. In her waking hours however? This was a time she was in control of her mind and could manage to continue writing that next chapter in her stone.

She came up on a quiet border. A quiet pridelands. And a whisper in the back of her mind, a compulsion. Do. Act. An ever so gentle kiss of Maua.
Maybe this was the next chapter? Dio stood upon the borders, and with a deep inhale strode over into Scilla.

Cirilla had long remembered Scilla Lagoon as her home. She had been born here, lived here for a shirt time until it was taken away from her, but had scarcely returned since. Tinúviel had been so kind to let her back across the borders and back into her birthplace, but something felt off. Cirilla rose from an idle slumber, one that seemed to last for a lifetime, to find Scilla eerily quiet. Her brows furrow, both out of curiosity and concern. The tan lioness walked through the beachy lagoon quietly, inspecting every nook and cranny for the High Sovereign. But Tinúviel was not to be found, and a sense of concern and dread filled the Sigrún's stomach. She had just found herself a stable home, and in the blink of an eye, it seemed to have shattered again.

The call that slipped from @Diomedeidae's lips caused Cirilla some concern. A quiet claim against these lands she once called home caused Cirilla's stomach to sink further, and the scarred lioness could not be a spectator in what she had come to understand was another chance for the ambition and desire she so desperately craved, but so forcefully pushed to the side. Her paws take her through the Lagoon and to its border, where the figure of a lioness stood. Cirilla studied her for a quiet moment, released a series of chuffs, and then spoke. If you are here to claim the Lagoon, I answer your call. I will give you an ultimatum, however, Cirilla speaks, remembering what Ambrose had told her about being careful, and not rushing into fights like she had done. Doing that in the past had caused her husband to lose an eye, and she was not prepared to have that happen again. You can rule alongside me, as Sovereign, Cirilla proposes, watching the lioness carefully. Or, we fight.

It was a simple enough proposition, and one that Cirilla hoped would show her maturity. But, in the back of her mind, also one she hoped that Diomedeidae would take, and fight.

She arrived too late. By the time she realized the vulnerable position that the previous queen's collapse had left the pride in, and made her way there, already there were vultures circling but neither had the fangs to bite. So she did have a chance... to weasel in, giving a sharp chuff and standing proudly just outside the staked arena at the borders. "What right do either of you have? This land should be warded over by the Mire." Most immediately because Toblerone wanted it and any further explanation might make her seem weak. She growled low with ears folded down and tail lashing. She could take either of these women. Not both of them, though.

She felt two presences on her shoulder, both of her father's hearts beating in time with hers and their souls sitting there in baited anticipation. Caligula's kind whisperings telling her to avoid the fight and Aquila's gruff voice telling her to go for it. Intertwining amongst them the threads of Maua's voice, visionary images of the God, of her family. Of what they had gone through... part of her considered the deal. But part of her starkly opposed such a thing.

Dio did not seek a throne, a gilded seat or the power that came with it. Ambition wasn't quite the word for it. For another time, another place, she would feel far less desire to claim this place. She wanted a home, and after hearing of her family losing one and seeing them nearly lose the other? She couldn't trust this unknown. {We fight.} Dio declares. It was all or nothing after all. {Nothing in this life is free, I will earn this for Maua, it is their will and gift to me.} A glare to @Toblerone. This is my right. As much right as someone had to steal my family's home from them... She felt the compulsion of her god and with that began the fight that her opponent had asked for, after all Cirilla did not need to lay down an ultimatum. Did not need to offer Dio the lesser of the two ranks. This was her desire, not Dio's.

Dio saw no sense wasting another breath and charged. She attempted to approach @Cirilla face to face. Her dark inky shape moving forwards with swift steps, trying to let the calm overtake her as she plants her left paw to the ground and then swings her right paw out. She aims to dig her claws into the lower half of Cirilla's left shoulder blade.

It was the call that rose softly from familiar lips that had Kireena blinking and rising from where she had been resting to enjoy the last warmth of the sun before it started to bed down for the winter. Moving towards the lagoon, she saw @Diomedeidae and a lioness she had seen but didn't know @Cirilla standing apart from one another.

Though the Rainforest woman didn't know Cirillia, she did know the younger lioness and as they began their battle, Kireena began to wander the area to gather things that would help once the bloodshed was finished. She remained silent - not wishing to disturb either warrior, but also wanted to keep a close eye on the process to ensure she tracked the wounds passed around.

He'd heard the call - and it came from the gentle throat of @Diomedeidae! Amandil rushed from where he had been walking. He certainly hadn't been brooding not at all. As he arrived, he saw the pair already locked in battle and a few on the sidelines. The Casales male found a place on the sidelines and watched with worry evident upon his features.

"C'mon Dio! You can do it!" They had spoken of her family and he hoped she won - hoped she found herself here. Perhaps something to banish that aura of worry and fear he had seen her have the last time they spoke. Still, he would watch and wait.. and hopefully she would come out not only on top but with not many injuries.. Her opponent looked.. scary and fierce.

Carina was a n g r y. A feral woman as she was traipsing back towards a place that she had nearly always considered home. While it hadn't felt as homey as it had been since the disappearance of Tiamat, she still owed it to Tinuviel and Tiamat's kids to continue to try. Frustrated as she was with the adults within it that didn't show up for hunts, Carina was determined to continue to at least will the others to be active.

However, as she marched closer she began to recognize that something was off. Tinuviel wasn't here and her scent was faint... Dagge's scent seemed faint. Where... was everyone? A quick look along the borders and a little bit passed it she realized that there was no one. Carina's eyes swept behind her as though they were pulling a trick on her or some evil henchmen would pop up out of nowhere with blood on their mouths but all she saw was an expansive shoreline.

Unfortunately, as empty as it was... she wasn't the first to realize.

Two lionesses were already here and it seemed that they felt that they had some moronic, wolfy claim over the land that she had lived in for years. That Tiamat (and Tinuviel) had ruled for so long and yet, she was powerless to stop it. She couldn't interfere but you bet your pop rocks and twizzlers that steam was coming out of every orifice. Sorry not sorry for the visual, but you get it.

He was simply in the right place at the right time when the quiet beginnings of something started in the Lagoon. Maybe the dark lion was wandering a little close to see if a certain someone still lived here, but that point was made moot at the realization that Scilla no longer had a ruler. That would surely change today as Hero made his way closer.

It had only just begun, a fight brewing between familiar faces. He didn't know @Cirilla personally, but he'd seen her fight before. Maybe the ambitious girl would finally sink her teeth into a crown she so obviously desired. @Diomedeidae, on the other paw, the Hodari could not recall seeing fight before, though that didn't mean she hadn't fought at some time. What he remembered of the abyss girl was running into her at the Summit. She knew Jai, and thus, instantly had Hero's vote on who should win as the masked lion inches his way closer.

As he did so, however, one more familiar sight came into view, that of the only feline he remembered living here in recent time, @Carina. Oh, and boy did she look pissed. He couldn't blame her, really. He remembered what it was like to watch someone fight for the Hollow after the collapse. Despite the rage that practically steamed off of her, Hero decided to near the plum woman, if she'd allow. "Hey, you okay?" Probably not the greatest of questions to ask at a time like now, he realized only seconds after asking it, already preparing to get his head ripped off given her current state, but there was no taking it back now.

Curiosity draws her in like a moth to a flame, having known of the fall of the Lagoon most recently. While not fond of sandy beaches, she had spent a chunk of time residing in one and it made her all the more nosy to know who would potentially be standing at the head of the beach pride soon enough. Heavily pregnant and quite slow in her walk, Aelynthi arrives in time to catch the tail end of Cirilla's words, most of Tolberone's and Amandil's supportive shout for Dio. Another lioness was present that the elf had never met before, but her gaze flickers warmly to watch the moving body of Kireena, who she assumes is gathering herbs for the purpose of healing post-fight.

Her ears cusped forward curiously as she stands outside the border, not quite sure how to handle the respectful end of things when on all technicalities... it was no one's land currently. She reclines to a polite albeit rounded sit, peridot gaze settling upon the younger lioness she considered friend -- and the counter challenger. The cleric mumbles a soft little prayer under her breath, eyes closing for a half second as she wishes for a peaceful resolution... or at least one without bad injuries. Eyelids flutter open again to watch for serious wounds, attention occasionally flickering over the surroundings to avoid being snuck up on. Perhaps once her friend was done collecting herbs, they could chat.
