The last few days had been a whirlwind of activity and she worried if it would ever end. Slowly, the dark lioness made her way towards the jungle, pacing towards the rainforest. Things had come to light - she had seen the writing on the wall, a discussion with Leonie - a hurried run to the summit of the mountain peaks with small newborns in tow. Kireena knew the rainforest had children - older ..they had been at the Andal war. Though she felt bad for trying to take a home from young children - had they not assisted an ally in the same? Had their king not attacked the Oasis when they'd had young in tow? Stolen the throne from them? She didn't know all of what transpired between the Hollows and the Rainforest as she'd been embroiled in her own fight. But.. Leonie had shed some light on things. Between the largest enemies of the Oasis - the ones that would deserve revenge.. Wolfbron and the Rainforest. It certainly helped that Etain had come from the plains - and they too, were allies with her enemies. Many prides stood to benefit from the fall of the Oasis.. but to the red druid there was one that stood out as the answer. The summit may be home to Sedona's family - but to the desert lions that were used to the heat and sand? It was cold. She didn't personally mind so much.. but there was also many lions living upon the ridges of the summit - many lions that would suffer if food wasn't prevalent. She wouldn't let young newborns suffer and starve as her own had. The memory of her own failed attempt at mothering was at the forefront of her mind. Her own children had been born early - forced to be carried through the nomadic pathways their tribe walked. The adults.. the yearlings? They could manage days without food - but the time without food damaged her own milk supply and she lost her children despite her best efforts. One to elements - simply perishing while being carried through the frigid temperatures.. and two to starvation. Seeing Sedona cradling her own had brought harsh memories to the surface. She had stored her fathers skull - her mothers pelt in a safe place.. Apologizing to them that they were being left. But she didn't want them lost in the battle to come. Irena's claw however - remained firmly embedded within her ear. She had spent days ruminating on this decision before settling. Both the Plains and the Bluffs were large - many lions and cubs among them. Her exploration of the rainforest told of less. The scents that bordered the territory numbered perhaps in the single digits.. rather than the doubles as the other prides. There would be less to cause to lose their homes if she should win here. Would Scorpius and his family come if she won? She wouldn't be sure - but she knew that if there was a place of safety - a place lacking the frigid cold of the mountain.. it could be here. Firnen was farther from Wolfbron and Andal... and she knew well that the combined might of those now neighboring allies would be problematic. Leonie had told her of the Dieudonne's problems with her family and Kireena wondered if perhaps it would give them a place away. Would her own line be tied in with theirs? Mostly - she was doing this for herself.. could she? And to repay a debt she felt she owed to the Miroslav family. They had taken her in - trusted her. She had failed to protect their home when it had come under fire.. But she would do her best to perhaps give them another. The mountains were allies - they were options. The Hollows to.. but given the size of Amaryllis - the pickings for safety were slim.. She didn't think she could thrive in a cave.. nor did she feel that any cubs would do well on a frozen mountain where food was limited. So she chose to try to offer a third option. Ambition burned within her chest - she would never be content to be just a number - a tally on a wall somewhere. Perhaps.. this would be the chance she sought? Though she was hoping to provide a place of safety and warmth to the parents of the cubs that reminded her so much of her own lost children.. she also wanted to ensure that none other under her protection would succumb to the cold or starvation that such large prides often struggled with. So she paused beyond the borders.. knowing she had waited until just after dawn - before noon.. The sun was well on its way to being directly overhead. A night raid - an unexpected attack might be what most did. But, though she was here to try to take a home from another - she still had enough honor that she wanted to make sure they knew and had time to prepare. Nor would she attack the ones who wished to go - her goal here was two-fold.. Pay back a debt...and prove to herself and her ancestors that she could... And if she failed here? Perhaps it wasn't meant to be. Kireena heaved a sigh as she crossed the border hoping that this would only be another chapter to her story rather than something to regret. She started soft chuffs - gentle warnings that she was coming as she crossed the border. The roar of challenge built as she stood in a small clearing just beyond the invisible line that marked the borders of the pride. The red giant stood within the realm of the Rainforest and called to the leaders. She remembered one having met her at the claiming sands some time ago - would she still be here? This felt so very right. A chance to shine - a chance to rise and provide.. Something she desperately wished to do. And if she failed? Then she knew this wasn't to be her calling.
