He is drawn by the crowd in the passage, curious to see what it is that drew so many of them there. When he arrives, he sees that the starry-pelted woman is there, the one he once questioned about fate. Before he can make himself known, he hears another lay claim to her — this he was no expecting. And even less so did he expect to feel an overwhelming sense of possession as the other thought himself free to bring her back to his pride.

I think that will not be so, he said, unsheathing his claws and stepped forth to challenge the claim laid upon her. Let us see if fate is on your side.

No sooner than that was spoken, Lachesis charged forward, attempting to approach Rainhart head on so that he could attempt to raise his foreleg and bring his paw down in an attempt scratch.

It is not one of the three already present that steps forward to interject his claim but a dark and piebald stranger, smelling of the plains. Rainhart did not recognise the man, but he knew the two prides were allied. So when the contested claim arises, he arches a brow… but his grin widens. Rainhart did love a good fight.

He weathers the blow as the piebald man charges straight toward him, feeling the man’s right paw strike out toward his chest, slashing down through his dark mane and leaving lacerations.

Rainhart attempts to extends his neck, jaws trying catch the man’s limb at the wrist before it could be set back to the ground. He flattened his ears and slitted his eyes, lowering his stance with the manoeuvre to lower his center of gravity and evenly distribute his weight amongst his paws.

Allies schmallies.

This is nothing personal in Lachesis' eyes. It is but a bout between two lions, seeking claim over the same woman. He plans to make clear their battle is nothing more than that. Not a declaration of war, nor an attempt to undermine an alliance. They had their eye on the same beauty, now, they would see who was worthy of her.

He is pleased to feel his claws cut through mane and skin, but that victory is short lived. Before he can place his paw to the ground, his wrist is caught in the jaws of Rainhart. One would think he would have learned by now to watch for such things, but in the what of the moment, he thinks little about it.

Roaring in pain, he attempts to raise his right wrist up far enough that he has a good angle to attempt to bite down on the face of the dark lion, seeking anything unprotected.

Rainhart revels in the fight he has found himself, deeply pleased to find himself with such an even match. Amongst all the talk, here was someone willing to take action, and that was satisfactory to the Firnen Noble.

His jaws close as hoped on the moving right wrist. Rainhart feels Lachesis raise the limb and his head along with it. He doesn’t want to let go of his grip and so teeth pierce the top of his face by his forehead. That was the thing about facial cuts - they always bled like a bitch. He felt light trickling of red wet the dark fur of the top of his muzzle.

Rainhart attempted to retaliate by biting down fiercely on the right wrist he held, angling his head so the position was painful and would hopefully dissuade the man from further bites to his face.

Rainhart does not react in the way Lachesis expects or wants. Everyone here had a funny way of doing that, he found, much to his annoyance.

Instead of freeing him, he feel his teeth cut into the top of the other male's head, and the grip on his wrist only grew more intense. Sneering from the pain it causes, Lachesis attempted to snap his teeth towards the part of Rainhart's face that had been exposed when he angled it.

There is no other goal in mind than a last ditch effort to free his paw from the painful fangs sinking into it.

Rainhart feels his teeth lance deeper, piercing and tastes blood on his tongue. He feels his own blood continue trickling down his muzzle on the wounds already inflicted there, and he hopes valiantly that it wouldn’t run into his eyes. He knew what that felt like, no need to experience it again.

Another bite tears a fresh cut into his exposed right cheek and Rainhart stubbornly persists, weathering it even as more blood wells. He has something to prove here. He attempts to yank the joint with a tug of his head downwards and left with intention of letting go, trying to shred skin and flesh with his fangs.

His eyes narrowed, ears remained flattened and his balance evenly spread across his limbs.

@Tiamat speaks first, and nox cannot deny the appeal of the lagoon pride. led by two queens (though she is unaware of just how close one had been to her own beloved wither) it struck her as the type of place she could be comfortable in. nevermind that she had always appreciated the sea and it's undeniable power. nox does not speak of her intrigue, though, and merely gives the woman a nod with a knowing smile, followed by -- "thank you, tiamat." @Alexander ♔'s revelation lends her some surprise, swinging her head to give him her full attention. "the hollows," she murmurs, for she knew well of the stone halls that he spoke of. it had been a plan, once... a dream... it felt wrong to think of settling there without her heart sisters, but she could not deny the appeal of living near to the thick-furred king. other than this she is tight-lipped, though there is a glimmer in her eyes when she gives him a lingering look. and then @Reah has words to say, and already she can envision how wonderful the view of the stars would be from the plains. nox had spent more than her fair share of time in the fields, and this made the pride appealing. more than any mention of parties, at least. but as was the way of things nox would be denied a choice, and yet she cannot entirely mask her surprise. of all that she had expected a claim was not among them, and she isn't entirely sure how she feels about it. it is wrong, in many ways, and it rankles more than she would admit. no longer could she be guided to the right choice -- now if she wished to choose she would have to make a bid for freedom. at the same time she was strangely flattered that @Rainhart sought to make his claim and as she waited to see who would answer his call she did not look to hide her stare. while she might have thought alexander to rise to the challenge it was another that answered the call, a man who lingered in her past, shrouded in mystery. nox wasn't disappointed to see him there; he had inspired some of the most thought provoking conversation she'd had, here. "it would seem," she murmured as she settled more comfortably to watch, "that the choice is no longer mine to make." a hint of regret in her voice for the others that had gathered there before she directs her attention entirely on the unfolding battle. thankfully they make quick work of it, with @Lachesis emerging the victor. neither jumps to say much, nor to lead her away, and so the boralis painted woman rises and sweeps her gaze across the group. "that's that, then," a slight shrug as she seals her fate, "good effort, and all that." this to rainhart. "i'm sure our paths will cross again soon." if there is any desire there she keeps it well hidden, and shifts her focus to the others. "thank you for your company," ah and she breaths a small sigh, two-toned eyes lingering on alex before she turned away. to lachesis, then -- "i will see you at home." strange, that. and then she was gone. -exit-

A fight broke out and finished before he could speak, before he could blink it felt like. Irritation bubbled in his chest, his blood boiling with intense disdain with the prospect of one of them claiming Nox. Against her will. Toes curl into the earth in a kneading fashion, his jaws coming to a close in a loud snap as the victor became apparent. While he was glad she wasn't going to the Rainforest, it didn't sit any better that the male that had forced this situation had won. Vermeda Brook, the place he would have to seek her out - and her new King, for her freedom. There was no chance of allowing her to remain there. Without another word he turns, blue eyes burning with anger, and leaves back to the Hollows.
