Helah cannot help the chuckle that breaks free from her at @Arcania ♔ 's words. Oh, females definitely retained their brains- not giving them up in favor of the balls between their legs. She wasn't biased towards females, or anything though. "Males are foolish, often, but make wonderful minions." She paused. "And often something pretty to look at, and even prettier to watch fight for you." She grinned.

"I never thought myself inclined to marriage, but it... serves a purpose, and I am not foolish enough to ignore the opportunity it provides." She wouldn't openly admit that Oleander was a rare bird, a strange male who spoke little but oddly- Helah found interesting. Though, had she not considered marriage for the political aspect, she doubted she would have married anyone.

She grins, wryly at the females' words. "Oleander, is luckily very useful to me and I do not think he would comment on anything he may or may not find out." At least, that's what Helah thought, and she did not intend to let him know of her extracurricular activities.

"That they do, and it is so nice to have someone to fight for you instead of having to get your own claws dirty," she commented. Not that she particularly had a problem with that but it was nice to have options. "That and some still subscribe to that old notion of male superiority despite all evidence to the contrary." It was more than frustrating to her.

"A political marriage can be quite useful, as long as one doesn't care about such things as love," she commented. Which, personally, she didn't. She wasn't entirely certain it existed, and if it did she wasn't going to bother going hunting for it at this point. "And you were fortunate enough to marry into one of the most powerful families in the lands." She probably should have been focusing on trying to do the same thing Helah had done, but it had never occurred to her before.

"Emphasis on may not, of course," Arcania concurred with a sly smile. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.

@Helah

She cannot help but laugh, and laugh loudly and fully as Arcania speaks again, speaking of those to believed the notion of male superiority. What fools! Males were nothing more than arrogant hot-heads, and pretty to look at. Really, that was the entire purpose of them, Helah thought. Fight my battles at my orders, and be pretty. "Oh, those fools. They should know that females are far more superior at... well everything." She scoffs.

"Love is a fools notion, a defect of the mind." She said with a lazy wave of her paw. "Give me a good fuck and some violence, and I'm content enough for you to call me what you will... or you know, power." She adds with a sly smirk, clearly hinting at what she gained with her current political marriage.

Her own grin splits into something wider, and more sinister at her companions words. May not, indeed.

Arcania lets out a hearty laugh as well at the notion of males being the dominant members of the species. What were they good for? Being big and strong? There were plenty of women who could do that just as well. She supposed it could be entertaining to watch their idiocy, though. "Fools indeed. Though, I will say listening to them is quite entertaining." At least until she got a headache listening to them being stupid.

"One could be forgiven for thinking love didn't exist," she commented. She'd certainly never experienced it, and at this point in her life she doubted she ever would. Which was fine, because as previously mentioned she didn't think it existed.

"Even if it does, power is surely more important." That was all anyone wanted in this place, was it not? She believed it with how many calls for prides she heard regularly. It made her think that it didn't seem worth it to go for one when it was just going to be stolen from you at the soonest opportunity. Better to rule from the shadows, if one was going to at all.

The hearty laugh shared between the two females makes something that could almost dangerously be called warmth, bloom in Helah. She shudders a bit at the strange sensation and considers it silently as @Arcania ♔ speaks. She hums softly, thinking about the concept of love. She did not believe in it, not at all. Power, is.. all that Helah believed in. "Power is the only thing there is." She says simply. Okay, and maybe an unhinged obsession or two... could also be that. She considers her pretty Revna for a second, and grins. "Power." She confirms. That really was what an obsession was, wasn't it? Misplaced power.

Maua is never far away from the lions that live in their lands. They are always listening, always watching, always learning things about the complicated yet fascinating creatures that called Amaryllis home. On this particular day, they had been listening into a conversation between two unlucky friends. Maua was never one to snoop, or to listen into conversations that they did not need to, but when the topic of children was slipping from tongues, they could not help but show an interest.

They had been dancing on the wind, curling around the tree branches and harsh stone that surrounded the Bluffs. Maua had watched @Arcania ♔ closely, understanding her body language and simple desire for children. It had been some time that Maua had been given the privilege to grant a singular wisp child, one that this lioness could nuture and cherish for her own. Without making themselves known, seen, or heard, Maua descends from the wind and places their paw upon Arcania's forehead, moving it down to her heart, and grants the lioness a single wish: a sole wisp cub.

Without a word, Maua then disappears with a small yet gentle gust of wind, dancing away into the distance.

Power, yes, she would agree that was all there was. Wasn't that what all those calls for prides and ranks were all about? Power. If you had children, it was to further your line and make it more well known. Power. Was anyone really content to remain in the shadows, remain just another face in the crowd their whole lives? She doubted such a being existed, and she would be quite dismayed by them if she ever discovered they did exist.

She thought she felt something in the breeze that went by, but decided almost immediately that it surely had to be her imagination, or perhaps a little bug or something. She was too focused on continuing their chatter to really consider it anyway.
