Prompt: An African Hare wanders into the Lagoon and begins to play in the water.

It was small, meager; a cruel testament to the ides of winter.

Tinúviel had found a rather odd palm tree before she'd come across the hare. Its winding trunk burst forth from the sand before suddenly turning, diving back toward the ground as if it may sprout its fronds from the sand. But just as quickly as it curved downward, it curled back up, and created a small loop within the trunk as it leaves finally sprouted upward in the way they all should. The Scillan Queen had little idea how such a thing came to be, the only evidence of any hand written into this palm's creation only the slightly larger, slightly rounder stump that lay right in the center of the curled trunk.

Lips pressed together firmly, before easily slipping up onto the curl; her light frame easily bearable by the toughened bark, the deceivingly strong base. It is this height that gives her the advantage of going unnoticed, and just as she eases into the strange, hammock-like curl of the trunk, she spots the hare burst forth from the underbrush and run straight underneath her unawares. Eyes flung wide and wild, almost falling from where she is perched; but quickly does she recuperate, the only sound her hasty, fervent breaths.

7 years, no bonus

The coldest part of winter was well underway and it showed in the scarcity of game that now wandered into the territory. There was snow covering parts of the sand in thin layers. This was, perhaps, her least favorite time of year.

She was on the prowl, looking for something that she might be able to add to the caches, even if she had to hunt alone. The last thing she expected to see was @Tinúviel resting in the curve of a strangely shaped palm tree. Especially since it wasn't her palm tree. Even more surprising was the hare that bolted from underneath her, heading for the water of the Lagoon and startling her co-queen into almost falling out of the tree.

Approaching, her footsteps soft on the snowy sand, she chuckled. The hare was far enough away now that they could easily stalk it. It wasn't much, but it was still something. There were plenty of small, hungry mouths to feed right now.

5 Years, No Perks

Yrid found her way towards two Scillian scents. Passing along shore and other features of the land until she came upon the pair of Queens and a rather rambunctious hare enjoying a day splashing round the water. Maybe enjoying the fact it was warm enough even in winter to tolerate? She gave a nod to the unfamiliar @Tinúviel and a wide grin of recognition to @Tiamat. There would be plenty of opportunity later for some greetings nad actual formalities. After the hare had been taken care of of course. It did nto seem like it would be hard task for the group even if no more were to come gather.

two years, no bonus
Hunting was a necessary, yet painful, task that Carina was happy to help deliver to her pride. Especially for the likes of @Tiamat's children that needed as much sustenance as possible to thrive. Not that they wouldn't because of their profound genetics but it would give them a nice boost. Strolling quietly to the aforementioned High Sovereign and giving her a polite and super friendly headbutt, then gazing to @Tinúviel and giving her an almost as friendly smile. Then moving to set her gaze on @Ýridhressel whom she did not know but made all the effort anyways, hello, I am Carina. Lead Medic, I don't believe we've yet met. A gesture in the hopes of gathering the name of this strange Lagoon-smelling member but all the more delighted to know that their pride was continuing to expand.

Patrolling the border was a daily task for the lion. Having decided he liked this lions and lionesses that made up the population of the pride he wanted to keep them safe. Dangers could be everywhere or they could be no where. So he walked for a while before jogging. Warming up his muscles in the cold winter. Moving along the borders he scratched at a random tree sharping his claws until he noticed the pride was gathering for a hunt.

Coming to stand near the three ladies he nodded his head at them and gave a smile. Turning his gaze to the curious sight of a hare playing in the water he wondered if it would really take so many to get it? "Maybe this time cubs should have a go at it?" He suggested but didn’t really see any of the youths around. Thought they were probably still just a little too young to participate in a hunt.

Their success was not exactly a surprise. A single hare against five lions was hardly a hunt and really more of a slaughter. Most of them served to simply cut off routes of escape that the creature might have taken. Only one lion was needed to deal the killing blow. Hell, only one lion was required to take the creature to the food caches. Tiamat volunteered herself for that. Once the creature was dead, she snatched it up in her jaws and made her way towards the cache, leaving the rest of the group behind. It was hardly more than a morsel, but there were plenty of hungry mouths to feed during the winter. It would still be useful, no matter how small it was.

A measly hare was nothing to satisfy the Lagoon lions and even though their hunt was short and unexciting, it was done. Their bunny got the fate that it deserved and Carina felt like she hadn't even broken a sweat or anything of likeness. Sad, she murmured quietly to herself as she gazed to her fellow hunters and gave a shrug of disappointment. If anything, it could be used for its parts and given to the children but for the rest of the pride? It was a meager snack so Carina bowed her head and left whoever wanted the actual meat to take it for themselves. Not a whole lot for her to begin with even if she were starving. exit carina

Meager as it was, it was food, and the lions of Scilla were synergistic and kind enough to relent their own appetites. Surely, it wasn’t large enough to sate even one lion, let alone multiple, but it would be the perfect meal for cubs finding their appetites. Tinúviel had long grown more and more proficient at hunting, the act of it no longer quite frightened her. Thus, as she turned to head toward her den, her head was held high and a clever little smile swept across her lips secretly. Soon, too, she might return for another nap on the strange palm tree.
